It might just be that the condenser is out of gas, I think it's the same gas as in fridges, car air conditioners and the like. Sorry to hear about the covid mate hope you bounce back to normal ASAP, that bug knocks some people out of the ball park. I love that 5 Ltr Alembic still. Your floor came out beauty, 'Well done'. 👍.

Had COVID Easter 2022 and it completely flattened me for nearly 3 weeks. This seems to have been more like a really bad cold thankfully.

Is there a minimum glycol level required in the tank? I'm not familiar with these particular chillers, but if the cooling coil is higher up in the tank than the water level, you'll not get any cooling of the glycol. A good way to check the refrigeration circuit is working is to feel the return pipe to the compressor (the larger diameter pipe of the two). If it's not cold/cool, then you may have a problem - either a lack of refrigerant or possibly a failure of the compressor valves. I hope it's something simple! ETA: Just found an online guide which suggests the glycol bath level should be at 90% for normal use

Yeah, I filled it to the suggested level with the correct dilution of glycol and left it overnight. No cooling.

Great update as usual and the floor looks top 👍. I suspect that I've had COVID again recently, it was either that or flu, but I have no test kits to determine which it was, twas shit though, wiped me out completely for three days and I've been over a month recovering from it. Is the Glycol a lack of refrigerant 🤔? If so it's faulty as it shouldn't have lost the gas so quickly. I'd be inclined to ask for your money back. Stay safe and well, SIR, cheers, Schnuz.

There may be light at the end of the tunnel. I've a HVAC engineer coming tomorrow. Updates in latest videos. COVID bloomin flattened me last year. This year was more like a horrible cold but I'm still feeling washed out. Take care of yourself mate, and the 4 legged crew :-)

Did you try touching the coolant in the tank? Maybe the thermometer could be dodge. It's making the right noises at start up.

Also on mine that red light isnt on when the switch is off
@MadeByMartyn Жыл бұрын
Yeah, the dim red light is another concern - looks like an attempt at some kind of rewiring. I may just bypass the STC1000 altogether but can't see that as being the problem as it does make the right noises. I tested the temperature probe and although a couple of points out seems fine. I left it set to chill to -2°c for 24 hours and the glycol bath didn't change temperature at all.

@@MadeByMartynI’d be checking the wiring as it may just be as simple as that. Could be causing issues with the compressor
@MadeByMartyn Жыл бұрын
I think you're in the right place there. I've found an immediately obvious issue in the L1 & N were around the wrong way on the back of the power inlet. The way the wires had been cabletied obscured that. Correcting that removed the full illumination on the main power switch. I'm also wondering whatever other inconsistencies there are as a couple of what I'd guess are power cables to the fan on the heat exchanger, and the other to the compressor are different types (outside sheaf on one is grey, the other black). Also looking through the PAT logs here, I didn't test it when I bought it back for some reason.

It'll be something simple Martyn, you need an expert to advise...I'm sure super man Harry will sort it. He'll need a change from house building by now🤣

I'd feel really guilty asking Chris at present. He's juggling three full time jobs at present.
