The badge on the radiator was illuminated by a small bulb, you could always tell it was a Wolseley coming down the road at night , also they had a distinct exhaust 'tone', there was also a Riley version that was more equipped , both makes often came in a 'two tone' paint job...

G'day from Cuxhaven 👋🏻 A Woolsley... By the shape of the grille, I almost thought it was an early Holden. (The shape is quite similar 😜) The colour of the model is called "sky"... Well, if you're out on the North Sea in winter, in rough seas, you might have this face colour🤣 but I've never seen a pale green sky either.... I have also done the installation of an interior, but not on a classic 😉 Great work Marty, I'm thrilled. Definitely a thumbs up from me for that. 👍🏻 (BTW... poor "Graham" and his "invention"...🤣👍🏼) Maybe you should keep KEVIN off the internet 😂 Thanks a lot for sharing 🙏🏼 Have a bonza week to you and your family and stay safe and sound. Greetings from the DCcoB at the lighthouse end of the Elbe River. (And a special shoutout to Australia's most koalafied buffoon. Go Kevin 👍🏼🤣🐨) 😎👍🏼🇦🇺✌🏼🇩🇪👍🏼🤠

Your videos are always a good time. "Sky" was indeed a pale-green RAF undersides color in WWII. Humbrol made a match to it, too. Also, I'm not the only viewer who noticed that the word etched into the interior piece's mold is SUNBEAM, a pretty specific clue. All the best.
@lancerevell59792 жыл бұрын
Yep, I've used a lot of the Sky paint for undersides of early WWII Spitfires, Hurricanes and others, when doing styrene models. Also used postwar by the Royal Navy and Canadian Navy aircraft. It's a bit greener than Imperial Japanese Navy gray-green.

Hi, Marty! Glad you are back here in the KZbin. For using the DOT-4 (yeah, that's the right one) You could just dunk the whole base with wheels into it and wait a bit to let it do its thing instead of trying to rub off the paint with a cotton bud. Works much better this way and doesn't harm the plastic nor the metal parts. PS. Say hello to Kevin

My uncle owned the real thing in the 1960s and 70s. Lots of wood and leather, it felt like a miniature gentleman's club inside. I also recall the Matchbox version being small and un-flashy, so not very popular with kids.
@51pogo2 жыл бұрын
Great little car. I began collecting Matchbox in the US around ‘58, ‘59 but focused on the trucks, construction and other commercial vehicles, not the smallest of the cars like this, the Morris Minor, etc. which looked too “foreign” to me. Our local toy and sporting goods store had a birthday registry of sorts for kids. They sent you a card which had to be returned to get $1.00 off any purchase. The same card went back and forth each year. As Matchbox there were US$0.39 (discounted from 0.49), I could get two and a half, and my mother would chip in the extra 17 cents to get a third (no sales taxes then). My first ones were #47, Brooke Bond Tea, #17 Bedford/Matchbox Removals Van, green/metal original wheels and the “bonus” was #6, the yellow Euclid Dump Truck. Still have ‘em, but still none of the smaller cars like this restored beauty. Going to have to search them out at the next toy or train show. Great to see you back and well, Marty!

I love that color. A few years ago I saw a Jaguar XJ that was mint green with a white interior and admittedly, when hearing it, it may sound a little crass or flashy, but in person it was the most elegant and beautiful color combination I've ever seen on a Jag. I will eventually make a car with this combo.

Wonderful video! I've restored a few vintage Matchbox while leaving the axles on. It takes time, but I manage to wrap the axles and wheels with tape. Probably more work than it's worth. For removing old paint off the wheels, I've had great luck with Super Clean. It was especially great on the #21 Commercial Milk Float van. Super Clean removed all sorts of paint that was splattered on the plastic parts without damaging the plastic

I love the use of the editorial papers you tape at the bottom of your spray booth. The only other best use would be either the bottom of a bird cage or cat litter box. Actually that is the best use for that garbage media. Well, maybe wiping Kevin’s bottom after a potty run would be just as good. We had a similar rag here in the US, called the National Enquirer, I think. Keep up the good work, Marty. Love the makeovers.

Hi Marty, Very nice restore of a classic Matchbox model. Yes it looks like Kevin that little trickster has played a joke on you once again 😀 For folks living in the United States and Canada, I've had excellent results with Scalecoat II Wash Away Paint Stripper/Remover when removing paint from plastic parts. It's 100% plastic safe, but I don't believe that product is available in Australia. Another product I've had good luck with is Testors ELO (Easy Lift Off) Paint Stripper/Remover and it's also 100% plastic compatible. Sadly, Testors has been scaling back on hobby paint production since they were purchased by Rust-Oleum and the availability of ELO maybe limited. Cheers, Rich S.
