Your content is helping my OCD see the difference between fixed and restored. It’s quite therapeutic. No sarcasm here. Perfectionism has caused me genuine years of mental health problems. I am trying to teach myself that in some cases, good enough really is good enough. Thank you.

I'm learning that same lesson as I'm getting older. As a young fella I regularly made mountains out of molehills - a faulty spark plug turned into rebuilding the whole engine, that kind of thing, to the endless frustration of the good lady. Nowadays I'm much more accepting that just getting it working again is mostly all that's needed.
@jarroddraper51403 жыл бұрын
woopimagpie youed hate the mower at work gota clean the plug every 8 to 20 hours of running was buying plugs but after 4 started cleaning

Every time i get it back after the new guys got it for a bit well one broke the rear end one blew out the head gasket one broke the starter wire but it was also needed to run the thing so you had to hold the wire on the contact and drive at the same time was a pain in the back to get it to the shop

I do like it i will miss that old beast when we get a new hill mower

Sometimes I see you repair this stuff and think it should be in a museum... then at the end you always show whatever you just restored being used again for it's original purpose and it's so much better than just having them sitting around on display.

I enjoy watching what you come up with to do some of these projects on your own. It is much different when there is not an extra pair of hands. I especially like the "deals" you seem to walk into and fixing things up and getting it running. Although I think there is something missing. The goofs, accidents, and just plain "dang!" :)

I finally started on my boat, woohoo, amazing. I build a double H frame, like a rectangle but 4 end lengths hang out with 4 legs. Took me forever dragging all the tools outside, cutting 1x 3m into 2x 1.5m length & 4x 800mm legs. When together it resembles a square 1.5m x 1.5m with 2x 750mm arms at either end on 4x 800mm legs. I'll be able to build my boat on top of it & spin it on top of it to fibreglass the Corflute & plywood. I used a nail gun to fab it together quick but as I suffer from extreme arthritis I have to stop many times just doing something simple., happy xmas to you & the family.

Nice fix! Mine was $50, down from $75, because it wouldn't run. The fix was a new cord, after the old snake nest and eggs were cleaned out of the junction box on the motor.
@johnpullman32273 жыл бұрын
Marty, I would bet that the original design of the inside end that bearing was NOT open to cement, sand and water. Find some kind of cap like a trailer bearing cap and save yourself the aggravation of having to fix it all over again. Here in Texas mud-daubers like to build nests inside electric motors. They seem to be attracted to the starting winding governor mechanism requiring many a motor to be dismantled and the hardened mud cleaned out before being able to mix mortar. And then there are mice and rats that for some reason like to build nests inside the blower shroud of gas engines, requiring disassembly and removal of nests before further use. Really enjoy your videos. Keep them coming.

Hi Marty, Would think that there should be a cap over the end of the piece that mounts to the bowl, or when using it, sand, cement and water will get into the bearings. It's a pretty basic mixer with lots of finger crunching possibilities. But we had those back when people took some responsibility for their own safety. Regards Dennis.
