I'm a Maru fanboys but these games were just joy to see, Scarlett really deserved both of those wins and it wasn't just Maru making mistakes but she was forcing his errors really well. Scarlett definitely isn't at the skill level where you can fooll around and expect to win. And first game wasn't even trying to be funky, Maru was very slowly, methodically outplayed outside of the initial edge.

I mean, I don't think Scarlett was the favorite going into this Bo3. Both are phenomenal players, but just by virtue of his achievements in pro SC2, I think most viewers and Maru himself considered him to be the more likely winner. That's not meant as an insult to Scarlett, I think Tasteless was trying to just be objective, and to some people it came off as... tasteless.

They arent wrong though lol? With how stacked Zerg is who is Scarlett supposed to be better than? You have Serral, Reynor and Dark? Ragnarok had more recent success than Scarlett recently. Starcraft is a really difficult game and how many GSL titles or deep runs Scarlett has? She is one of the best players in the world and can upset the "Gods" like Maru for sure. But once people start taking you seriously and specifically targetting you with "cheese" or out of the box builds from Stalking your pub games and then win those games consistently you can only be considered one of the "Gods". Scarlett has my respect for being a long running pro and not shoving the whole "transition"/queer thing like Glty or loud and annoying like Sonic Fox. Unfortunately She never peaked as the best player. Best Zerg maybe for a month or two but Serral exists in that same time frame.

Fungal still quite ridiculously OP in my opinion though, mainly due to the fact that, unlike with other AEO spells, you can cast another one for a guaranteed hit and kill the entire group of targets. They should have at least taken away Infestor burrow movement.

Cyclenes are best versus Protoss IMHO. They are too slow to be aggressive versus good Zerg with creep spread and if you only want to clean creep then why pay extra, hellion would do just fine as well.

You are definitely looking with your eyes closed then. The zerg doesn’t care about unit losses if it gets to keep bases, its units are easy to replace. Economic damage absolutely fucks that and Maru got none either game. He needed to commit more on the scv pull, he need to not leave half his army in prime fungal formation on the edge of zerg territory, we need to tech up and add more tanks/a few marauders and ghosts or more libs. He needed to trade out the hellbats game 1 and press that third harder but he was only positioning on the low ground, he needed to pick a high ground to keep vision on as the surrounds kinda just dunked him. Marus a WAY better player than me, but it’s clear to see this wasn’t his best series.

You just upgrade ling bane and slap on a fungal and hope for the best. Late game roaches means you’ve lost. Brood lord, ultras, even the spell casters are all hard countered by ghosts.
