The thing about Infinity War and Endgame is that people were invested in the characters and the decade-old storytelling they had been following. That was what made the "wow moments" hit hard. And it's something they can't replicate with Doomsday or Secret Wars because you don't practically know any of the characters that will star there, so they rely on cameos and nostalgia bait. A movie is much more immersive if the creators find legitimate people who fit the roles based on their character, personality or traits. Hollywood NEEDS to recognize how important certain aspects of their industry are and reconnect with those aspects. Such as dedicated voice acting, 2D Animation Studios, hiring a range of actors based off who can embody the personality and traits of their character the best. I'd also like to see matte painted backgrounds & VFX's artists improve across Hollywood. All of these roles should be seen as Crucial aspects of the movies they are making. Not treated like this disposable temp agency worker. They should give out awards for these roles. These people need to be celebrated and respected more. A lot more

deadpool and wolverine is rated on imdb as 8.0/10. when it first came out in theatres, it was rated 8.3/10. just for comparison the 1979 film alien is rated 8.5/10. in 2002 alien was added to the U.S nation film registry. do you think deadpool and wolverine deserves to be 0.5 points less than alien? (rhetorical question). another person in the replies is talking about spiderman no way home so i'll say a bit about it too. that has 8.2/10 on imdb. when that film first released i remember it having scores above 9/10. i did like peter's arc in that film, but the plot was weak in some areas. the villains are taken from their universes right before they died. the heroes cure them and send them back to their universes. but wouldn't the villains return to the point when they were just about to die? would curing them mean anything when a couple seconds later they die? no way home made $1.9 billion at the box office. i don't think it would have made anywhere near that amount if maguire and garfield weren't there. when they showed up my whole theatre was screaming, including me, even though i never watched the sony spiderman movies. marvel knows the power of nostalgia. responding to the part where the original comment said they watched deadpool and wolverine twice, i wouldn't watch the movie again. the movie was carried by jokes and nostalgia. watching the movie a second time, i would already know the jokes. the fox character cameos wouldn't surprise me. i wouldn't be distracted by the jokes and the cameos and that would force me to focus on the plot more. i do agree that the plot was lacklustre. the villain was a tiny bit less bland and forgettable than the villain from the marvels. if i watched the movie a second time, my memories surrounding it wouldn't be as positive as they are now. i really did enjoy myself in the movie theatre. i was laughing and having a fun time with my dad. now i've gotten over the hype phase after watching the movie, i am more critical towards it. i hope that marvel (and also disney) stops weaponizing and capitalizing on nostalgia and gives us a movie that stands on its own merits without relying on cameos to make a lot of cash at the box office.

It would’ve given them time to set up pay offs and build up characters. Instead they’re just throwing fan favorite characters in with no build up and either kill them off or we never see them again because they’re “an alternate.” Might as well go full fan service, they already dug themselves into this abyss. It was the MCU synergy that crept this stuff in Thor isn't a funny goofy haha man, he's a serious warrior with the weight of the world on his shoulders Hulk isn't a funny goofy haha baby man, he's a body horror character representing the long lasting effects of being beaten by your father and how to live with the mental illness it caused Clint isn't the chilled out dad of the avengers or the vengeful filled murder, he's a human screw up who does the wrong thing just as much as he does the right thing The MCU doesn't understand the characters it's adapting half the time, and even when it does, like with GOTG, their best writers have left for greener pastures

Should have been Victor Von Doom. This is just gonna be an alternate version of Tony and he's just gonna get redeemed at the end.

People are forgetting he is playing victor Von doom not Tony Stark and remember the MCU saved him because he was doing bad things before he became an actor and people were saying the casting for Tony Stark with RDJ was bad

I don’t particularly mind having RDJ as Doom since it’s fitting to have him play a villain that wants to destroy the MCU that he started as Iron Man.
@hasthehighground85602 ай бұрын
But why waste Doom on that? Doom is such an important and different character that relegating him to be “Iron Man but evil” is a disservice to the character.

@Stumme-40203Ай бұрын
I don’t see how this Doom would have to be connected to Tony. Isn’t Doom often disfigured in the comics? The only way we would recognize him would be his voice, which RDJ can definitely pull off a Dr. Doom performance that sounds nothing like Tony. After all, we’re talking about Wayne Gale himself.

The endgame there have been 3 great Marvel film's Spider-Man no way home, guardians Of The galaxy volume 3 Deadpool & Wolverine. It's not dead yet by any measure but RDJ as Dr. Dom is going to bring the MCU back to the big leagues.
@longthornhenderson3312 ай бұрын
There is a way to make rdj the “true” doom and have the real doom not be tony. Do what demon in an armor did. Maybe this doom switched minds with tony and hes in his body. And somehow theyre able to kill tony doom. Only for his consciousness to return to his actual body

Doom’s connection and relation with Reed Richards is WAY MORE important than his connection and relation to Tony Stark. It is sad Dr Doom is gonna be reduced to an “evil Iron Man” now.

Here's what I think: the RDJ Doom movie is going to make TONS of money. Not exactly Endgame/Infinity War money but quite a lot. However, it won't be seen until the next few movies if it worked or not. The idea i just too interesting for most moviegoers to skip, but they're more than likely going to fumble this role and only then will it become apparent later that its the end of the MCU.
@Theknightman-wg1dzАй бұрын
I’m fine with the casting, especially if they hide his face or have a good way to explain it. Rdj is a good actor and I think he can do it right. My biggest issue is that he isn’t Romani, I don’t like when they change race or gender of characters for almost no reason
@shajita2 ай бұрын
Really good observation, and I agree. Marvel movies feels less and less like movies, and more like feature length Smash Bros. trailers. I'm gonna have to push back on 3:55 however. Not pointing fingers, Marvel treating their properties terribly is nothing new, but The Fantastic Four, specifically Reed, is not something Doom outgrew. His rivalry with Mr. Fantastic is as core to his character, as being a mutant is to Magneto. Like yeah, you could make Magneto just an angry guy that causes natural diasters and have Captain America punch him, but we'd leave so much on the table. I'm not super interested in a literal 1:1 translation of the comics, but if you start off with Doom as a Marvel Universe villain, or an Iron Man villain or, god forbid, a Spider-Man villain, then you're already not adapting the most interesting aspect of his character. That comic you named, Secret Wars, has Doom rebuild the entire universe in his image, with every surviving Avengers showing up to defeat him. But in the end, it's just Doom and Reed, wailing on each other like children, screaming ideologies at each other, separated from everything around them. The stories goes on and on, man. Sue was giving birth to their second child, and due to cosmic yatta-yatta, she nearly died from it. It was Doom that came in and saved her and their daughter, with his price being that he got to name the child. He did this out of spite, wanting little Valeria to be a constant reminder of Doom saving Reeds family while he was powerless. But he also placed her under royal protection, putting himself in the role of a an uncle and godfather for her. A role he repeatedly stepped into over the years. Reed and Doom are so alike in almost every way, yet polar opposites in other. They push the other up and tear him down again. It's this rivalry I want to see adapted, more so just to share it with people that thinks Doom works without Reed as long as he got green lasers and foot dives. They're both lesser characters for it, and I think RDJ, opposite of Pedro Pascal, would absolute kill it if given the chance. So I guess I've talked myself into having less of a problem with the casting RDJ as Doom, and more so casting Doom as Thanos. He should've been a Loki that grows into a Thanos.
