The sooner people remove themselves from this silly dichotomy of Marvel vs DC the better. A good movie is a good movie, a great movie is a great movie. Both Marvel and DC have made good films. Sure DC's track record has been glaringly spotty but this trilogy in particular (which started before the MCU's inception) is a benchmark for superhero films for a reason. But what makes a great movie? Incredible craftsmanship in the cinematography, acting, directing, special/visual effects, production design and score. Something that utilizes all of those aspects of filmmaking that then has something to say within a narrative is truly special. The Dark Knight is a fantastic film that may not have the explosive dazzle like an MCU film but the naturally-lit, gothic visuals, real locations, phenomenal practical effects and Hans Zimmer's score make it truly special. The themes of loyalty, chaos and betrayal are so well woven into the story that is truly epic in scope. The opening heist scene, iconic 18-wheeler truck flip and Hong Kong extraction have a genuine visceral, tactile bravado to them because they were actually shot for real. That's just something you won't get in an MCU movie and make no mistake, visual effects and green-screen are great tools but there's a level of craftsmanship here that is unmatched. On top of that, the performances are great, the story is engrossing and certainly unique and the character arcs are fantastic even if some feel rushed and slightly hollow. This is a comic book movie that treats its characters with true density and weight with story elements that most blockbusters don't delve into. The love interest dies, the hero fails, the good guys lose. Back in 2008 it was a monumental shift in cinema history for a reason. What Christopher Nolan achieved has been highly acclaimed for a reason. The Dark Knight is a mature, dark, realistic take on the caped crusader that has stood the test of time.

When Batman fell from 20 floors up, he used his cape to slow his descent That's when falling from higher up was actually more helpful, as it gave him time to activate his cape and control his fall a little more.

At the end everything Harvey did to get the criminals in jail would be futile if Harvey was seen as an evil entity, therefore batman took the blame of everything, that way Harvey is seen as the hero even though he was evil

The best part about the entire opening heist is that if it had gone down without any problems at all, there would've been five clowns dead in the bank and not even a single injury to any of the employees or any innocent bystanders. They were holding all of those people hostage, by making them hold grenades after pulling the pins. "Obviously, we don't want you doing anything with your hands other than holding on for dear life!" but those were all nonlethal smoke grenades. The only injury was the bank manager, who was also the only person who fought back, if he hadn't started blasting, he wouldn't have been shot at. Having the non-lethal smoke grenade go off in his mouth like that was more insult than injury. ESPECIALLY since that guy was just talking shit, "You have any idea who you're stealing from!?" Yeah, he does.

18:17 he had just gotten shot bruh... with armor that in the movie is described as being vulnerable to knives and gun fire... when he saved Rachel earlier he was able to use his armor and cape to cushion the fall. I think there are a lot flaws in your review, I think you really missed some key points made throughout the movie, and also the story telling in this film is 10x deeper than any marvel movie. This is a movie that actually required you to think and understand what is happening, instead of just constant vfx nonsense. Transitioning from marvel movies to this movie is a tough transition if you just like pure and constant vfx w/ out in depth story telling and facts to take into consideration.

Gotham's remaining good-guys put the whole city's eggs into the Dent basket. Batman took on the entire blame to protect Dent's legacy in order to prevent a thousand mobsters from walking free out of jail. That's what he can be. The hero Gotham deserves. A silent guardian. A watchful protector. A dark knight.

So you must not know about Two Face since you keep what’s with him and his damn coin?Two Face is a Batman villain who’s whole identity is about duality, and his coin. His face being half scarred created a duality conscience with one morally good and the other side evil/bad. He always uses the coin flip to decide things! Mostly his bad side is always in control

Try looking at this KZbinr called Legaleagle he's a real lawyer in Washington and he's content is mostly law enforcement, he talks about batman and why it's illegal to be a vigilante, you should take he's words as advice but it's nice to get a lawyers perspective on topics
