@@billfred9411that’s actually sort’ve a misconception - It wasn’t so much that he didn’t like Reynolds as he didn’t get along with the director. Snipes decided to stay in character and method act on-screen and between takes. He’d leave post-its for people to talk to him, signed Blade. He didn’t want anyone talking to him except through his assistant. Reynolds’ light-heartedness really contradicted his own persona, and so he avoided him for the purposes of making the movie. Reynolds says he never met Wesley Snipes, he only met Blade.

Blade was the first SUCCESSFUL Marvel movie on the big screen. Wesley Snipes served as a producer as well for the movie. Blade was released towards the end of summer 1998 and hit number one knocking out Saving Private Ryan from the top spot. I always said ‘Blade is Wesley Snipes’ and hoped he would return. He DOES care about Blade, he was called 'crazy' during Blade 1 production because he literally stayed in role even for interviews.

True story : I attended college in Iowa near a Amish community. One day a young Amish boy about 16 years was riding his horse and carriage by, we talked invited him in and we was watching blade. The blade and frost fight scene was on. He seen it and that it was real he couldn't believe it. BLADE was the first movie he had ever scene. We explained it wasnt real but a movie, then we showed him the behind scenes on the DVD. 3 days later I seen the Amish boy in the missing person add. Come to find out he ran away and went to live life after being introduced to the world through blade...no cap.

I saw D&W the first night it came out and lost my shit when the music changed and I saw Wesley walking all slo mo on camera. It was fucking WILD in our theatre and I can not tell you if I have ever been so ecstatic seeing something as unexpected as Wesley dawning the Daywalker outfit again! No shade to Ali, who is in his own right a fantastic actor who I think could play Blade well, but Wesley is THE BLADE! The guy who started it all at Marvel. I believe Ali can be Blade, but I do want to see Snipes involved in the film in some way as a variant. I also think this has been a disaster and since it's taken them so long to make 1 movie, a sequel with Ali is probably not happening. So they'd have to recast the role which makes sense if they can get this out before Secret Wars. IF they even do anything with the character after that, they could just recast someone younger.
