I think the reason people have said this figure sucks is because they don't like the character. That tends to be the case with ML collectors; they cleary don't care about details, and all they like is the character, they don't even see the figure for what it is. That's why when you said Armored Daredevil is better than Retro Spidey, people's argument was, "But nobody cares about that Daredevil outfit, and it's SPIDER-MAN. That alone makes the Spider-Man figure better, because it's Spider-Man." A popularity contest doesn't determine if a figure is good. By that logic, Batman and Spider-Man have the best superhero figures ever made.

I love the character. I hate the design flaws, as so many of Hasbro's figures have. They just don't give a damn.

I have a price alert on Amazon for this guy set at $12.50, that's about all I'm willing to pay for 99% of the MLs released lately. It's good to hear he's not awful, though.

The legs are a modified pinless version of the Spider UK mold, which I first remember seeing on the Puff Adder wave Baron Von Strucker. my biggest issue with this figure is the gripping hands, they should have been bigger, more sturdy so as to get a better grip on the whip, and the different orientation for the hinge. My solution for grip tightness was to glue his thumb to his index finger. Also not a complaint per-say, more of an observation, the box says Whiplash, definitely the more recognizable name, but with this costume he was known as Blacklash. His costumes as Whiplash were late 60s with purple/orange costume with the weird orange pants with openings cut up the front of his legs, and late 90s where he's just Captain Bondage, wearing leather straps & metal rings with a gimp mask.

There are some newer gripping hands on some figs that work good, I think US agent's hand, I gave it to my Daredevil fig. but yeah tons of figs have the gripping hands that are tiny and can't hold shit.

You're right about the legs. I remember they changed the sculpt beyond just the pins but still left the limited range in the knee.

They are. They just use better plastic than hasbro but the joint style still has inherent problems.

Oh I cannot wait for the pin/pin-less video. That plastic Hasbro uses has been a horrible lump of wet mess for years now. I got Ka-Zar & like your experience, his arm fell off. Trouble with mine is that once re-attached the hole is now bigger then the peg making the arm wobbly and useless. Otherwise, cheap plastic. Please please please I urge you to make this video, collectors need to know there is a difference between the quality of plastics used by different companies.

I wouldn't say they went all out on this one. The whip and the grip hands is a major design flaw and he cannot hold the whip one-handed. A complete fail.

More the A listers can be slouched on. Every figure should be of a certain quality, and the lesser known figures passing shouldn't be so surprising. Likewise, many were baffled when their Power Rangers line had better quality on villains, when the Ranger suits should be easy to do.

I was thinking: imagine how much time and money are spent trying to figure out how not to use paints to try and save money. I wonder if they don't cancel each other out... One might argue that 'sure it's worth it or they wouldn't do it' to which I would counter with 'people making money saying they're saving money are usually the ones making decisions about money to make sure their money keeps going higher'. And yes I used the word 'money' a lot on purpose 😂

A hideous whip indeed! Plus, it looks nothing like in the comics, cannot be posed (It's not flexible like a wire) and he can't even hold the damned thing one handed. Total disappointment.

The well proportioned bit is amusing because this is that Magneto body with the sausage in cloth tubes thighs. But it shows that right finishes and paint goes a long way with a couple well done new pieces can salvage these poor base bodies.

This is an entirely different torso with lots of different parts compared to magneto

If you've got a magneto handy hold it next to it. The shoulders despite the retool of the front half of the chest, the shoulders still have the same clearance issue as they did with Spider UK, stopping at about 45 degrees until you force it down a little to slide under the plastic. Though the knees have a little more range from tweaking where the folds crashed into each other.

It kills me that they make a cool looking figure; but still hinder it with crap articulation. The sculpt for the head looks superb. I remember an Iron Man comic where he looked like that but had renamed himself Black Lash. I think maybe he used two whips and they could transform into a pole for vaulting walls and nunchuks. He could also fend off attacks by spinning a whip; like Thor does with his hammer.

Yup. Whiplash changed his costume in the 80's and changed his name to Blacklash. Hasbro is too lazy to even research the character's name.

Blacklash (classic Whiplash) is such a baffling design for a Ironman Villain, like why is Ironman fighting a Medieval looking dude with a whip? I prefer the robotic Whiplash designs (like MCU, Armored Adventures, and Phineas and Ferd) because he actually looks like someone who fights Ironman, but I do see the appeal of a weirdo like Blacklash

He has custom made weapons that can shock, use energy attacks, and are made out of denser materials to rupture materials. Oh an above average athlete and a whip specialist. A B-level henchman or assassin. Good for folks who want to complete their Marvel comic based villains collection. Be well.

Yep. They can do better for sure. I guess it’s something to do with licensing? I don’t understand why their GI Joe figs are so much better than their Marvel figs. They even put effort in Fortnite characters, like unique sculpts and zero reuse. It’s odd.

Companies like marvel select have licensing to do figures and theirs are a thousand times better than hasbro usually. But if I am not mistaken hasbro owns GI Joe therefore it’s not surprising they pump out better figures but they can still do so much better with the marvel ones

I recently managed to get hold of a couple of valaverse and yes thryvhave issues you gotta handle very carefully hot water a must and yes more expensive but wow theyvare detailed price tnough is an stretch!

I love the classified line but I have to be honest and out of the 8 figures and 1 set I bought new, there were only 2 without a problem. The others had issues ranging from frozen joints over bad Paint to missing parts. I know some are problems across the board with those specific figures, others (most) are probably just bad luck.
