Reminds me a lot of vsync. Murders input latency in the pursuit of a half measure. Plus the effect completely breaks if you cant hold 60fps.

Great video! What excites me is that in the last few years, we have gone from "You can't really game on Linux, you MUST use Windows" to "Linux may not perform as well as Windows on this game". For all the benefits I see using Linux as a daily driver, I am very happy to take the (honestly, not very big) performance loss on a few titles. As always, TY A1RM4X! I have that as well. Usually only happens for the very 1st match after I load into the game

I know the feeling you talk about. Its when you move the mouse. Chrashing is most likely due to core isolation. I have it on other UE titles with core isolation on. Its a security protokoll for a driver that crashes. Just remove everything in the core isolation tab, and most problems gone in windows😂

I appreciate your honesty. Did you use the game-ready driver or studio driver on Windows? I found that the game-ready drivers are far more unstable than the studio drivers in general.

Tried this out on EndeavourOS with my 6800 XT/Ryzen 5700X PC, it is more or less on par with Win 10 on my case. Given the mix of info on Proton DB from players that reported unplayability I opted to use Proton Experimental Bleeding Edge, cuz with The FINALS (even with diff anti cheat) updates from time to time caused it to not work if I just opted for regular Experimental or Proton 9 (at the time of writing). We'll see if it changes over time, but with the caveat that I do cap the frame rate to around 144 max at 1080p (I only have a 1080p monitor -- not fitting for the GPU but it's what I have), and am using all Low settings (SSGI Low) except for Texture and Model at High, I have not noticed stuttering so far. Do keep in mind, the FPS cap is also what I use on Windows anyways to try curbing power usage since the game wholly utilizes the GPU, so when I say on par it's the stability for me.

Proton GE 9.20 never gives black screen.

I have not tried this game yet, but I have tested Wukong benchmark (Unreal 5) on a fresh CachyOs box (RTX 4080) and noticed this micro stuttering too. I had also similar issues with World of Tanks, but after a recent CachyOs update it went away and now it's pretty smooth. I'm on Intel 13900 though.

is there a general way to stop micro stuttering in nvidia. Some games start fine but start having stuttering mid session. I have searched online with no solutions. My setup is 5800x with 3070ti Endeavour os - "arch"

@@justaguyalive6762 Not in this game. I have tested a LOT of options and couldn't make the game playable. Yes, I could reach 200fps depending on settings but it is stuttery, the display is not smooth and the game feels disconnected. At the moment I consider it unplayable. I'll try to test Wukong today and see if there is a difference.

@@justaguyalive6762 Ok, there was an update of WINE and Proton for CachyOs today and IMHO the problem with stutters is gone. I can now play Marvel smoothly at 160fps. What a difference....

I'm full AMD and I have 220 fps with the frame generation in 2k, I have a 5800x3d and an rx 7800xt under Ubuntu 24.10, I do not have the stuttering that you mention. Sorry for my english.

I have 7600x and 4060ti 16gb, no stutters either. Actually, cutscenes between menus stutter, but nothing in game i can notice.

@@pbomajestic9874 I'd honestly think so. I had to remove CachyOS from my laptop, performance was abysmal. Things took longer to load, game performance was stuttery and input laggy. Back to plain old arch and everything works as expected. All AMD laptop (amd apu and 7700s gpu)

I run this game on a steam deck with bazzite, locked to 48fps (never dips below), all low settings, 720p, no frame gen, and 50% render res. Runs relatively smooth actually, I have managed to grind a lot of competitive matches with it, and even managed go up the ranks with this setup. The only issues I have seen so far are the time spent on loading screen, but this seems to be related to disk speed (probably also at fault for the characters taking ages to load in) and that sometimes, the game just completely disconnects me (this doesn't happen in-game, but when trying to enter a game), although annoying and infrequent now, reconnecting fixes it. Frame gen makes the game feel very choppy and as such, I have it turned off. People seem to be having an issue where this game can only run in desktop mode, but I have no such issue so far, at least for me it runs fine in the console mode.

I have Ryzen 5, 3600 with 32GB RAM, AMD Radeon 6600 with 8GB VRAM, in Windows, I barely get 100 FPS with Low Graphic with FSR on Performance and Frame-Gen on, but on CachyOS, I got 130-145 FPS on High Graphic. Not sure if it's because Linux uses Vulkan?

I noticed random micro-stutters are you mentioned and mine were linked to pipewire little cracks.

Honestly game developers are treating optimization poorly these days. This might be the case why newest games are running poor on Linux, and experience issues even on Windows. Ark Survival Ascended is a great example of terrible optimization yet in my opinion it's better to play it on Linux, same to Ark Survival Evolved. I played it with a friend of mine who uses Windows. Despite poor FPS, the game on my Arch installation worked like a charm while on Windows even if it had the same FPS, it tended to crash every once in a while just like it happens in Ark Survival Evolved which is also not a very well optimized game.

The games i play, Resident Evil Village, Minecraft, World of Warcraft Diablo2, Resurrected, a bunch of non native steam games all run with 20-50 fps more on CachyOS vs Windows 11 24H2, i cant feel input stutters when moving the mouse fast, i do use the newest GloriousEggroll Proton for my games, not counting minecraft, the most exiting thing for me is when Wayland support lands on XFCE, that DE holds me dear and true to my heart as the fastest DE on Linux and i will be the fastest again on Wayland.

I use Windows primariliy but I'll be switching to Cachy soon,and I also get those "micro stutters" if I can even call them that . The framerate doesn't go down but the game feels kind of stuttery at times and it happens at random. I game on a R7 7700X and RX 6900XT 32Gb ram so I don't think it's a hardware problem

I fixed lagging issue in Everspace 2 (UE5 game) by setting amdgpu performance level to highest clocks using LACT (Cachyos/Tkg kernel in Arch).

I knew it wasnt me, i tried to play the game on linux and the performance was unbearable, like a 50% less performance I had like 65fps top when not in intensive fights uncapped and 30 on fights with freaking DLSS on performance and everything minimum at 1080p While in windows i can play with mid settings and dlss quality at 1080p i had stable 60fps capped most of the time with a few little drops to 50s

Limit your fps to the monitor's refresh rate and your latency will be a lot better...do the research! vsync is shit! turn it off
