@Reddotzebra3 ай бұрын
He's been retconned to not be a mutant, apparently he wanted to be a mutant so badly that his reality warping powers made it seem like he had the X-gene. Those two pages of the Symbiote hypnotizing Franklin have been in my head for decades since I first read them in that comic. The artwork was always there but never the writing, and I could never remember if it was a single thing, if it was resolved in a series I didn't read at the time, or was just simply forgotten about. Thanks for reminding me after all these years. I can finally live in peace.

There was another issue of the Fantastic Four somewhat earlier that Franklin had immense power: In that issue, Franklin's powers were building up, to an "overload". He was unconscious, and the power kept building and building, until he threatened to destroy the Universe (or something). Reed, realizing the catastrophe that was about to happen, pulled out some kind of gun thingy he'd invented, and zapped Franklin with it. This "turned off" Franklin, but left him in what seemed to be a permanent catatonic state. Needless to say, Sue was Not Pleased. She t5ook Franklin's body, said to Reed, "Reed how could you? He was your son", and separated from Reed for a time (they reunited eventually).
