Yeah but not all of us who like comics just want them to be moralistic good guys vs bad guys battles. That gets very boring really fast for me. If Marvel and DC were ever ONLY that, i'd never have cared about it in the first place. At the very least put characters on different ideological spectrum and have that be the cause for drama between them. I'd care more for that than having editorial or fans dictate and gatekeep what is "good".

I understand what he’s trying to do in using the Avengers strategy on X-Men, but it isn’t working primarily because the X-Men as individuals do not have supporting casts or rogues galleries to merit solo titles. If you’re going to do that you need a concerted effort in developing these titles and not just throw ninjas at Psylocke. You need to answer the question what story you’re looking to tell. What’s our characters personality traits that we want to highlight? What’s our characters motivations and goals? Who are our villains and what are their objectives and why? How are we going to reveal this to the readers? These are questions editors have to propose to the creative team to create something of substance.

Are we sure Tom Brevoort isn't a beaver in a human suit? Also, one of the saddest aspects of our modern culture is the loss of simple same-sex friendship. The recent "Unification" Star Trek film project perfectly embodied an established male friendship, no romantic or sexual overtones, but I realized while watching it that the internet will be full of perverts trying to make it sexual because all of their own human relationships are just that superficial.

"What It comes down to is weirdo sex-obsessed freaks don't understand the concept of friendship." Everything wrong with the American comic book industry for the past 10 years, summed up in one brilliant sentence.

But i mean people have been reading same-sex attractions into stories the original writer didn't intend for centuries. It's certainly not just a comics thing nor a new thing. I'd argue it more comes down to people interpret different things as romantic where other people don't. For some people there are things you do with a partner that you wouldn't do with a friend. When the author and the reader don't line up with those ideals it's entirely possible for someone to mistake a friendship for a romance. In comics the distinction between what the writer thinks and what the artist thinks may also add a different layer to this conflict where the artist wants to imply something with how a scene was drawn.

I've pretty much reigned myself to the sad despair inducing Revelation that Marvel is effectively turning its Silver Age Crop of Characters and heroes into the Morgoth's 'Gaze upon my Works and despair' treatment for Art. Especially since these Long Time Die Hard Fans suffer the most from this. The only 'upside' is Captain America Steve Rogers escapes the Nuthouse of ideas in 11 Years. And that's really the only Bright spot for Marvel.

Maybe it's a good thing he is out of the loop a bit. It seems to me, the problem with the X-men is that it is too complicated. All the different story lines and characters can be overwhelming. I think it's good he feels it too. In the Dark Phoenix run, you didn't have to read 5 different other titles and special editions to know what was going on. It was simpler in the old days and better. Less is more. It seems they are heading in that direction.

I haven't bought any Marvel Comics in 15 years and will continue not to buy their garbage comics. Keep changing for the worse, Tom Brevoort, and keep sailing toward that iceberg. As a business, Marvel is purposely catering to splinter segments of the population, purposely alienating the millions of peope who don't buy their garbage comics anymore. If any struggling business wants to study how to avoid bankruptcy, they should look at companies like Marvel, DC, and Gamestop and what these companies are doing with their employees and the few die-hard customers and supporters they have left, then do the opposite.

You know, Wes, many people here criticize you for never really developing your points and opinions on books beyond "it's bad" and quickly diverging to something else. While I do think most of the time this is coming from people who stopped watching before the half way point of your videos and don't bother checking your pantheon for the full review, I think you can give a deeper but still concise analysis for KZbin on why something is bad when placed in a larger setting, especially for X-Men if Dok can help you out. Example 1: Magneto suffering from this resurrection degeneration sickness because of Krakoa's resurrection technology. You reviewed Resurrection of Magneto back when it was coming out where we were literally shown in it that the only time he came back to life during Krakoa was : 1) without undergoing that process and 2) after Krakoa fell. X-Men#35 showed us that every mutant that was ever killed was resurrected in the White Hot Room where Krakoa moved to the far future compared to 616, yet nobody there ever mentioned that illness even though they should have been the first to notice it as they were using the process for *decades.* The only thing you did mention in your video was that you thought all mutants went through the process while on Krakoa, which makes Magneto being the only one to now suffer from an illness tied to using it absurd and nonsensical. It is a good argument but it would have been elevated if you gave a few examples of mutants who were resurrected more times than Magneto, and as such would have felt those effects tenfold, who were the first mutants to be resurrected, and as such who should have had those effects long before him, or who were the mutants resurrected right before Magneto/Fall of X, which would have been Miss Marvel, Beast, Nightcrawler, ... Example 2: You're a well-known Nightcrawler fan and have been understandably and publicly upset about everything that's been done to him during Krakoa. You keep bringing up the butt-baby reference 1 year after Si Spurrier released his retcon onto the world but didn't even mention in your review of it everything *surrounding it* that make it so much worse and everything that came *after it* which turned it even more into a pointless plotholed retcon (X-Men Forever and X-Men#35). You make a reference to a reference that wasn't developed enough to recontextualize it in people's minds. This is a real shame because many in your comments were confused as to why Nightcrawler was even dressed up as Spider-Man in the one-shot that retcon was made in because they didn't know that, at the time, *Nightcrawler was just going around pretending to be Spider-Man for no valid reason.* Something he did during Krakoa's version of *Fall of Mutants* while all of his friends were advancing the plot. That's how far Nightcrawler fell as a character : A mantle swap was required to sell anything about him then a retcon was needed so he gets reeled into the plot again one way or another.

I would have expected Kitty Pryde to be the first to show signs of some strange resurrection degeneration syndrome since she had an entire plotline about how resurrection (and the Krakoan Gates) didn't work on her for some unknown reason. There was a setup already available to be used for a plotline like that but leave it to Marvel Comics to pick the very characters with whom this couldn't have worked. What's next ? Storm suddenly shows signs of that syndrome while Nightcrawler, who totals 15+ resurrections on Krakoa and was one of the first mutants to undergo resurrection, is fine and dandy on his side ?
