And it makes sense for them to use the current version of the character in the movies over the one from 15 years ago. Hell in fact before people were throwing out Monicas name as the one they should have used they were saying how they should have used Mar-Vell first. They had five people write on Captain Brie and this was the best they could come up with in terms of even referencing Monica, by turning her into Kamala lite. I still feel that no one on board the writing team knew anything about the characters as a whole otherwise they wouldn't have changed so much without understanding how it effects EVERYONE around the character. Even Mar-Vell wasn't free from this and not just because of the gender-bend. What about his children? Do they still exist and if not, they just erased two LGBT characters (of his three kids) in one swoop all for the sake of 'diversity'. Never fucking hire slacktivist for any movie you do and if they haven't heard of the character, make sure they know about it before taking the deep dive in. Is that so much to ask for?

Yes, Ms. Williams and the topic, too. Marvel just....well, should we be surprised when Marvel is ran by that darn Mouse? I bet that there was a Disney suit in the mix that has never picked up a comic book in his/her life dictating that it shall be Carol Danvers. For the umpteenth time, Captain Marvel is the Big Red Cheese that is really a kid named Billy Batson or seven kids from a foster home (depending on which version) who says "Shazam!" for DC Comics. Captain Marvel is Monica Rambeau, the first African American female superhero with that name and in the Avengers for Marvel Comics. Carol Danvers is Ms. Marvel who gained her powers by hanging around Mar-vell and getting some Kree dna mixed in her system. She later lost her powers to Rogue who siphoned them off via Mystique's urging. Later, Carol got some powers back and become Binary. After that tapped out, she became Ms. Marvel again. Not Captain Marvel, but Ms. Marvel.

I agreed with what you said said about Monica Rambeau. James Baldwin talked about how black men and women with more Caucasian features are more accepting in the mainstream, so that may be the reason for Rambeau looking the way she has been currently looking. Also, drawing black people or any ethnicity can be frightening for an artist because they don’t want to draw a stereotype and be labeled racist. I have artist friends who are just plain scared to draw black people.
@AnimeProfilePicture5 жыл бұрын
It's not that hard, look at how animators use to draw African Americans back then and DON'T do that. Don't draw your black characters jet black. Don't have them talk in ebonics all the time(if they use slang here and there it's cool). Talk to more black people and get their perspective, learn more about black culture. There's never an excuse to why you can't draw outside the caucasian race
@cudamopar5575 жыл бұрын
i understand . it can be difficult to make different characters of the same race look different. superman can look like batman and shazam; just change the hair style. those same facial features can be found in cpt america, hawkeye, male cpt marvel, and johnny storm ; just change the hair color. drawing black people may also be difficult in trying to not have them all look the same. how do you make powerman look different from james rhodes , black panther, sam wilson? but with black people you can change hairstyle (afro, flat top, crew cut, bald) . black females have more hairstyles to choose from . but who will dictate skin tone ? if you look at black characters in comic books, they all have the same medium- dark skin tone pretty much. (but white characters have the same skin tone as well) . no one will dictate that any black character will be light, dark, or medium; it might cost too much or cause too many headaches with different artists. or it may cause an uproar with the black community (too many light skinned characters vs dark skin characters) . if you go back to Milestone comics, there was an effort to draw black characters differently , skin tone and all .

And your right, why did marvel do Monica so filthy because I always loved marvel comics since I was young. And your not lying, they changed Monica's complexion from a black woman to a very light skinned black woman & that's not cool. And YES this movie should of had monica as Captain Marvel or even the man who first became captain marvel. Thank you so much for reminding me of this fantastic marvel character & keep up your magnificent work bro- 👏👍✌.

Good idea, no lie. She fits the role perfectly. The only thing I seen her act on is Love And HH tho. Does she have acting chops?

young royal I don't know much about her acting ability but I think she looks like the original drawing of Monica so why not.

Well, since LHH is a soap drama, it requires some acting. However, she would've probably needed more training with an acting coach to sound more believable in this role. I don't like over the top actors/actresses. She definitely has the look though.

I checked a marvel dictionary out of the library to explain this to my son and his mother but they weren't interested in the long story. I'm glad you did this to prove my point and you gave a better explanation than myself. Your research and video skills (editing and so forth) are impeccable. I have to send this link to both of them. Thanks and great work, I can see in the comments I'm not the only one that appreciates this.

She was terrible as Catwoman. It just came off Halloween-ish. I said what I said.

If a Black Women played Captain Marvel she would play the role better then Brie Larsson. Actually everyone is better then Brie Larsson if someone else played as captain Marvel
