And then in some of the comics her hair is very straight and get skin is several shades lighter than her first appearance. The preview image you have of her isn't that bad. Now, when some newbies look at some of these images they think that actresses with lighter skin and straight hair, like Rosario Dawson (and other actresses with "racially ambiguous" features), for example should play her if it goes live action. Dawson is a phenomenal actress, but doesn't look like Monica.

Intellectual property rights, up until recently, made them being frontrunners virtually improbable

Superman's most dangerous enemy is arguably Lex Luthor, who's superpower is basically his genius. Both Superman and Batman are crazy OP in their own ways, but their best enemies are people who find the cracks in their armor. Luthor can turn entire nations against Superman, which renders all those powers kinda useless(you can't just slaughter everyone who takes Luthor's side). Or put another way, the USA is "over-powered" compared to the rest of the planet. We have the most expensive military, bar nothing. Yet, we still got rolled by a bunch of low-tech lunatics who turned our technology and money against us. I guess what I'm saying is, in Superman's case the problem imo is often not his power level, but the writing.

The problem is Marvel has a way of creating black powerful female characters with a weakness that effects their power and hinders them from reaching their full potential. Storm was the most powerful X-Woman but because of Jean, who was naturally weak, Storm had to be written down. Claustrophobia and the fact that she’s human yet a mutant made her more less powerful than could be. But her power could not be denied so they had to upgrade Jean. Even wrote Storm to deny an upgrade twice. Jean, Scarlet, Carol, Emma, Rogue (now immortal), Jubilee, Mystique, Psylocke and all other race of female heroes will always have an advantage over black female heroes. Ororo, Monica, M, Cecilia Reyes etc... This is why I stop buying the comics, watching the cartoons and the movies. I turn to KZbin only to check for a change. I am a Marvel Fan but now it’s fading from my heart!

That battle with Zeus severely weakened her, but it wasn't as bad as when she attacked Thanos's ship where it drained her so badly that her physical body was all shriveled up (similar to her accident in the ocean). Anyway her stint with The Ultimates put her back in the spotlight, and I'm sure a lot of fans are crossing their fingers for her to find her way into the big screen along with Captain Marvel. :-)

To be quite honest, the Captain Marvel mantle doesn’t really matter to me. It’s just a name that Carol Danvers took. Whats funny isxthat Kelly Sue Deconnick actually addresses this issue in her own Carol Danvers story where Monica and Carol discuss their codenames. The way I see it: Carol Danvers is Captain Marvel and Monica Rambeau is Photon. But I believe Monica will be the next big hero after Carol Danvers

Considering 7 people total have carried it, and most people only focus on the second and third name bearers, maybe it doesn't, but doesn't change the fact that it is what it is. Honestly, Carol should've been Captain Marvel when Mar-Vell dropped, but it didn't fly that way. Spectrum has outgrown the name entirely.

I'm just gonna be honest. I'm looking at this character, what I know of Carol Danvers and what I can see in the trailers for the new movie...and I'm already wishing they had gone with Spectrum as the lead. Even if she's in the CM movie, I've got a bad feeling that she won't get much screen time(certainly not much in the trailer). Her powers are more interesting and when she needs to "go big" it's crystal clear she's a heavy-hitter. And while yes, she's VERY powerful, it's also clear that she's got limitations and weaknesses, which is frankly just better from a writing standpoint, imo.

Well... she is in the movie. But not the way you'd likely want. In all fairness, Monica as a comic book character has never been written incredibly well unless she was a guest character or on a team. Personally, I am fine with how they introduced her in the movie. She was instantly likeable and they were very clear of what her future will be

Thank you, Bill! This one was particularly tough because her history is spread throughout SO many comics, most of which were team titles. I try to do my due diligence as much as humanly possible. A lot of times I catch mistakes as I'm in the process of finalizing the video and double back to fix them. So I'm always trying to stay on top of my game. I hate it when I make mistakes 😄 I've seen others like you mentioned drop the ball, and I don't think I could do it and be happy with myself and what I'm doing on this channel. I beat myself up too bad 💯 I'm hoping that one day we won't have the issue of race and prejudice. Its a long road to walk, and it takes people like us keeping the right mind set. I look forward to being able to drop the qualifiers and having to preface everything and we can just be "people" and see these characters as just "people".
