@@mechanicalmonk2020 when you go through a portal in ratchet and clank during high activity scenes there's a moment for a second where clank is just spinning in a purple void that's a hidden little load there (you can see it better on pcs using harddrives where he's left there longer) spiderman 2 seems to have removed the need for that little hidden load we're talking taking something that felt like they couldn't do better and pushing it even further it's only 1 point something seconds but when your dealing with that level even the smallest gains become impressive

I think the portal jumping works the same way as Ratchet though. The “loading section” is just disguised as the snowy location and then they have you jumping back into a different area of NY instead. Clever but it works the same.

Definitely feels a lot more seamless though, the example in Ratchet feels like a disguised loading screen while in Spider Man you are still actively playing so even if it's a trick, it doesn't feel like one like it did in Ratchet.

Here is the thing. The ''disguised loading sections'' are limited by the engine of Insomniac and of most, if not, all of the other game engines on the market. It is not the speed of the SSD and its kraken decompression system. Mike Fitzgerald from insomniac spoke about this with John in an interview when Ratchet Rift Apart came out in 2021. Game engines are just not up to speed yet to be able to stream such a massive amount of data so quickly. Going from engines streaming 50-100 MB/sec of compressed data on a hard drive to 5.5 GB/sec of compressed data on PS5 is not a small step. The journey is still young. Devs might not even hit the limit of what the PS5 SSD and its kraken decompression system can achieve by the end of the generation. Such throughput being leveraged in games might be done in the cross generation era of PS5-PS6 from 2027-2030. Be patient guys. Those days are coming, but we are not there yet.

There should be a distance limit to gliding depending on the launching point or you can use air currents to carry you thru I guess? From the looks of it it seems you can pretty much glide from one area of the map across to the other which violates the law of physics. You would need an external force (wind) to keep you afloat the whole time so maybe he can hop on different current vectors to hold his air time. I'll def be supermaning my way thru it looks more fun than swinging

Just saying it now I had my issues with fallout 4 and it's on all platforms and I'd be the same way for starfield ps exclusive or multiplatform if a game is bad I'm gonna say it's bad I've always bashed the order for being so short and basic just trying to get by on its graphics a games exclusivity means nothing to me personally but I can spot a great game and I can spot a weak game Spiderman 2 is a great looking game (and looking like it is ) Starfield looks less than mediocre (and turns out it was )

First Spiderman game was in Development before Sony bought Insomniac. And they helped them to make it Insomniacs best selling game that looks and is just great. MS ist just to stupid for the gaming industry thats there problem. Shitfield looks worse than some Ps3 games with AI worse than some Ps2 Games and filled with Bugs. There is no excuse for this shit 😂

In a few years this will release on PC and it will be shown that even a sata SSD is capable of running it just like with Ratchet and Clank. The magic PS5 SSD is just marketing BS. The optimization seen here is impressive though I'll give them that.

Buddy please go learn pc tech only reason pc can do these things now is because of the ps5 and what mark cerny created with the i/0 throughput and direct storage he created in the ps5 and everyone else copied the the tech for pc cerny even said it himself when you see this come to pc its because of the ps5 2 years ago when ratchet came out pc didn't even have direct storage or i/o Like ps5 and the reason why ratchet can run on pc on a slower ssd is memory which pc has a huge win over consoles but without direct storage not possible
