Something that really annoyed me in the story, was the way that everything Peter said and did whilst wearing the black suit was all blamed on the symbiote. I think the story should've explored the idea that Peter actually had the thoughts that his allies were useless, and was constantly battling with the idea of killing every single one of his villains. This would've added so much more debth to Peter and helped show just how much his villains even the less important ones effect him. I also think Peter needed to be given some scenes with his villains whilst wearing the symbiote, such as the iconic Shocker chase; as it could give us more insite into Spider-Man's thoughts, and allowed us to enjoy more black suit Spider-Man's edgyiness and brutality. He could even kill or almost kill one of his enemies prior to the Kraven boss fight. We could have had a much more dark and mature story, that would have really gone against people's expectations. I had these thoughts when comparing Spider-Man 2's story to the comic Spider-Man: Spider's Shadow, which's main plot was Peter's dark side aswell as how it wasn't the symbiotes fault for how Peter acted.

I keep saying the fight between Peter and Miles should’ve ended with Peter almost killing Miles. Would’ve been cooler to have Peter take the suit off because he realized it was affecting him rather than Miles basically beating it off of him.

@@AtracBreezy I actually have an idea similar to what you're talking about. IMO, the fight would've been even better if you could choose whether to side with Miles or Peter. Kinda like what Injustice 2 did with Batman and Superman. If you side with Miles, the fight would end the same as what we got and during act 3, Venom would want Peter to be with him as a brother and make Miles pay for getting between them. If you side with Peter, we can have your idea of Peter almost killing Miles and taking the suit off himself. But Miles will end up in the hospital and won't be playable until the mission where you go into Peter's mind. Also in act 3, Venom would deeply hate Peter as both Harry and the symbiote feels abandoned by Peter.

I’m starting to get tired of the best friend/mentor turning evil trope. It only worked the first time with Otto but Insomniac kept doing it again with Phin in Miles Morales and then again with Harry in Spider-Man 2. The reason why it worked in Spider-Man 1 was because of how well Otto was written and the buildup to him becoming Doc Ock felt earned. From the first scene we saw him it was already hinted of him becoming Doc Ock, but the writing and friendship between him and Peter made us not want him to turn bad. In Spider-Man 2 when Harry became Venom it just sorta… happens. Like it was thrown in there at the last minute to keep the story going. At the end I didn’t care at all what happens to Harry.

Otto wants revenge on Norman for stealing his company and his ideas and wants recognition. Phin wanted revenge on Roxxon for her brother’s death and wanted Roxxon destroyed. Harry wanted to heal the world, and the symbiote twisted his motivations and took advantage of them. They aren’t the same.

Tbh? Norman should be PURE evil in Spider-Man. I don't wanna hear any "Mr. Osborn, this isn't you!" and if we do hear that? Make Norman do something INSANE to prove he's beyond repair. Like Norman killing Harry would be a nice turn of events.

The problem is that they rushed everything, like they rushed Peter having the black suit and they rushed Venom being revealed. Everything that happened near the end of game has absolutely no emotional weight added to it. It feels like things are just happening and that’s pretty much it. Also one major problem they did with Venom was that he didn’t have no beef with Peter. This version of Venom just feels like an alien trying to takeover the world, it has no connection to anyone really.

If you ask me, the story would've been much better by having the symbiote talk to Peter during the black suit arc to develop an emotional connection and if Venom actually wanted to help Harry heal the world. There's a comment I made somewhere in this section where I explain more of my idea if you want more context.

@@jaxxpool9630 Yeah, they could’ve did something like that. Then overtime we would have seen the negative effects the symbiote would have on Peter’s personality. As Gotham mentioned, we could see characters like Yuri take a notice on him being brutal to his enemies. In Yuri’s case, maybe she would witness Spider-Man do something way out of line that would probably make her question her own ruthless actions as she compares herself to Spider-Man. (Even though Yuri didn’t feel like a ruthless person during her side missions. LOL)

Have Peter face her at the start without the symbiote and save her from her darkness, then have Yuri confront symbiote Spiderman and call him out on his hypocrisy, while trying to save Peter with the help of Miles and Black Cat Having Yuri be a side plot after her having a main supporting role in the first game and an ENTIRE DLC worth of setup was dumb and just wasted potential

The ideas you brought were pretty solid and your criticisms are some that I also held. I think my biggest gripe is in fact the MJ parts. The biggest issue with it too is the fact that the games director just blatant says that they didn’t care if she was OP. However, the story is a lot worse when two genius super heroes seemingly have access to a gun that can destroy symbiotes and give it to their friend while they actively waste more energy fighting with their hands.

Just finished it. In the end, the entire thing just feels redundant. Peter and MJ are together, Harry is in a coma, and it ends with a Green Goblin tease. In other words, we’re back exactly where the first game ended…

This is why the first game had the best villain count and villains in the Insomnic trilogy. Each antagonist served their role in the plot and was never underutilized of their destructive capabilities. The game's runtime was able to develop them properly. They just simply worked overall. The next 2 games rushed everything despite the clear good amount of writing (besides Miles Morales, that game is just trash).

4:00 If they had removed the spider-arms abilities, then it would've been like Miles has all these cool abilities and Pete didn't, which would make him weaker until he got the symbiote. This would show him being a more powerful, and better Spider-man, with great power; but no great responsibility. This singular small change would've made the story way better, and the line would've also had more impact.

You know maybe it’s just me, I’m so sick of these characters we love becoming a “title”, which is handed over to others at a later stage. This is happening so often lately, and it annoys me. The Spiderman 1 story was so good, and had so many twists & turns, and the 2nd did too but, it also felt like a platform to make Miles the centre of attention because the Spiderverse movies are popular

I'm very disappointed by a lot of things in this game. And frankly, the more I think about this game, the more I am disappointed and angry about it. I loved Spider-Man 1, I liked the Miles Morales game, both of them were for me the best modern version of Spider-Man. I'm glad that people seems to enjoy it, at least glad for them, but for me Spider-Man 2 is one of the worst version of Spider-Man, by far. - I think the same about the fact that having a non nerfed Peter (because yes, he is nerfed in this game) failing at one point to save people could have been better for the story. Like you, I think the best opportunity to do so was during the Conney Island part. They put emphasis on the girl Harry had a crush on, it would have been perfect. They didn't even have to kill her, just injured. Also another missed opportunity : Black Cat. I don't like the way they used her. I think it could have been interesting if Peter felt guilty because Kraven kill or injured her. That way, they show how dangerous Kraven is, and make sense for Peter to feel the need of the symbiote. - About MJ missions... I understand why they done it that way, but it simply doesn't work. Scrap that. I love MJ as a character, but the way they write it in this game is simply a non sense. No pseudo sneaky missions, because they sacrificed other things to incorporate them. If the director read my comment (probably not), I have a message for him : people are not stupid, and no, female characters don't need to be John Wick to be interesting. You try it and nobody believe it, we are all annoyed by this non sense. And no, a training with Silver Sable when she was doing investigations is not a good justification, that's lazy. - About the way they treated the old enemies, I think like you, they could have shown how they died, even if it's a quick video montage. Peter seeing it, and reacting, having at least one or two lines about them. It's the bare minimum of respect. Then, have the mission with Felicia and it's Peter, not Miles, who fail to save her. - About Kraven I would have changed his motivation and the way he is introduced. He is a great hunter, and he don't mention the fact that Spider-Man is his greatest prey, since, well, he is the one who defeated the other bosses. In the game, he just try random super peoples to kill him. Black Cat is not even a fighter but a thief and he hunt her, it's a non sense. To me, it could have been more interesting to have a Kraven focused on Peter because of his past victories, freeing the others to defeat them himself to be prepared to fight Peter. And then, we could have our first fight with him. Not that stupid one shot sequence, a true fight where we control Peter and no matter what we fail at the end, being stabbed by Kraven who was perfectly prepared to defeat Peter/us. That way, the stakes are high, Kraven is a true badass antagonist instead of simply appearing from time to time. It could work to have him as the final boss using the symbiote to become Venom. I don't know if you are a comic book reader, but Kraven become Venom in a story the writers clearly took inspiration of in the game, "Spider-Man : Life Story." It could have been a good ending and different from the previous two games (because the Miles Morales game story follow almost exactly the same story than Spider-Man 1). And yes you are right, it would have made the game feel less safe and predictable. - About Venom. You are right when you say that having again a close one being the last boss make the story predictable. But I think it could have worked. First of all, Harry is the same as in the game, but he don't need 24/7 the symbiote. So no Agent Venom (too bad it's one of my favorite part of the game but I think it's necessary). He and the doctors could think that he is cured at 100%, but slowly the game shows that he needs it from time to time. Then introduce Black Cat stealing the symbiote when Harry wanted it to heal. At that point, Harry become to be more and more desperate, the nice best friend become scared, his fear showing the worst about him. They could have showed us that he is jealous of Peter in some ways, being in love with MJ, and the way Norman treat him. Then, at the end, when Harry is at his lowest point, it would make sense that he transform into Venom, the incarnation of his hate and fear. - The last part of the game is a rushed mess. The weakest point of the game, and the thing that made me dislike it, is the way they handled Peter and Miles. I agree with you, the fact that they don't show realistic reactions from the civilian and especially no reactions from the police is an absolute non sense. Miles is a paradox in this game : he is not necessary to the story, and at the same time they shows him every time as a better Spider-Man than Peter, having the laziest passing of the torch. It's a big mess. And seriously, the "Why would this city need me when it has you?" is the most disrespectful line to have Peters saying it. It's childish and insulting to his character and what he represent. That was the worst moment of the game by far... That and the fact that it's not even Peter who saves Harry ! How can someone look at this and think "that's a good storytelling" ? Additionally to the fact that Peter constantly needed help during the game, and people insist that he Peter is as strong as he is supposed to be... oh no that's the biggest bullshit. The story game would have been better without Miles as a playable character, or simply as a temporary playable character during a few missions only and that's it. It's a story about Peter and Harry, it should have been that way from beginning to the end. Or, if they insisted to have him the same way, don't insist so much on how stronger Miles is than Peter. It's the laziest trick of writers tools. Assume the "Be better. Together." Respect them both. Have them both fail and show how awesome they are individually AND together. Heck, you could even have the same ending with a Peter needing time for himself, without nerfing him and boosting Miles at every occasions. They needed a better balance. And really, they shouldn't have done the passing of the torch in this game. Sure we know that Peter will come back in 3 and probably the Venom game. But he will no longer be the main character and a really important one, even when the Green Goblin and Doc Ock will be the next villains ! How is that even possible, I don't know ! Also, Norman is really underdeveloped. One thing for sure, Insomniac lost my trust. I'm sure the Spider-Man 3 is also going to be bad. They had the opportunity to have 2 Spider-Bros, they failed, once again dividing instead of uniting. As an old fan of Spider-Man, I feel so bitter.

I honestly think the story was close to being great and had a lot of right ingredients, but was kinda afraid of really going all in with its potential specifically with Venom. I don't even think the symbiote invasion was a bad idea on paper, the problem was the context of the invasion and Venom acting like an evil monster trying to take over the world. Something I think would've really improved the story without straying away from what we got too much is having the Venom symbiote talk to Peter during the black suit arc. I mean the symbiote having actual conversations with Peter and not just tempting him. It could really flesh out Venom's character and develop a deep emotional connect between him and Peter. Then once we get to the symbiote invasion, Venom would genuinly want to help Harry heal the word by giving everyone symbiote powers. But the conflict comes from that his way of healing the world isn't the right way and very unnatural. I'm making a short series of Reddit post on how I would improve Venom's character and I already made two if anyone wants more context on my idea. The point is the story could've worked, it just didn't embrace what it really could've been.

I had a similar thought with how the symbiote in this game was handled. To this day my favorite iteration of the symbiote is in the Spectacular Spider-Man show and I really think they should’ve taken inspiration from there. I had an idea at some point in the game Peter would have a heart to heart the Venom during the time they were bonded. At the start Peter would initially blame him for the way it changed him. But Venom could retort and argue that “We did not plant what was already buried by you”. Venom would ask Peter “did you not feel those emotions even before we bonded with you”. Peter could ask why did venom now choose to bond with Harry when he tried to give it up in the beginning Venom could respond with “it’s our species nature to find our perfect host, that night when we first crashed on Earth and Dr. Connors found us, we were scared at first but he approached us with an open hand, we felt at ease, we never meant to hurt the Doctor we thought he wanted to bond with us to help us, then they locked us away in that tank, do you know what it’s like to be a prisoner and not understand why.”“Through Harry’s memories while we floated in that tank he always had you on his mind whether as his best friend Peter or as the hero Spider-Man, and after that night in Coney island, we felt drawn to you, we had found our perfect host.” “Then when we bonded with you it was not just to satisfy our need to find our host, but because you meant so much to him, and the time we spent bonded with you, we saw how much you’ve sacrificed as hero for this city, but what we could not understand is how could someone who saved so many lives, sacrifice so much and still by hated, vilified by some, blamed for the events that you helped stop. Deep within you we felt your rage and frustration, with the people of this city and those around you. As you hated them, in turn we hated them just as much.” We vowed to do anything in our power to help you.” In a sense Peter’s bottled up rage, frustration, and emotions with the city, the people and those close to him, are negatively affecting the symbiote and in turn, makes the symbiote negatively affect Peter

@@DK_Vandaryn This is an interesting idea. Although if I may, I want to explain a bit more of my idea on how I would've done Venom since we're on the topic. Firstly, I would have the symbiote be one individual being rather than a creature that has multiple minds or however you call it. It would say "I" or "me" whenever it's referring to itself in singular, but it would say "we" or "us" whenever it's referring to both itself and its host. Also, how I would've done it is the symbiote needs to bond with someone it can emotionally relate to in order to reach its full potential. I probably shouldn't explain everything here since I'll just flood the comments section, but let's just say the symbiote tried to do good, but suffered pain in return before it came to Earth. Harry wouldn't be a compatible host at first since he doesn't have the same tragic experience as the symbiote. But Peter IS a match for the symbiote since he tried to do so much for New York and his life suffered in return, like when he lost Aunt May in order to cure Devil's Breath. So the symbiote bonds with Peter since they are so much alike and Peter eventually sees the symbiote as a best buddy, until of course he gets rid of it after the symbiote Peter boss fight. If you want more context to my ideas, I made a post in the Venomsite subreddit and titled it "How I would've improved Venom's character in Insomniac's Spider-Man 2". I also made a part 2 of it and because there's so much to write, the pitch is probably gonna be like 4 parts. 😓 But I do hope it'll be worth it.

@@jaxxpool9630 Ooo I like the idea that idea Symbiote, and it emphasizes why it’s so hard for Peter to rid of the Symbiote and vice versa as the symbiote understands Peter’s pain and feels it is the only one that TRULY understands Peter more than anyone else which in turn would make Venom genuinely feel hurt that Peter rips venom of him so violently. Also my reasoning for Venom saying “We” instead of “I” is since that’s how Venom has always referred to himself as in various media, so I was trying to keep my dialogue lines in character 😅. I’ll definitely check out your post on Reddit.

You felt it during gameplay just by the way he hit people. It was mostly the mental aspect the symbiote gaslighted Peter the entire time it was on him. In his eyes a brutal Spider-Man everyone fears would be the best for the city but that isn’t Spider-Man.

Maybe if they didnt shove politics in this game I wouldnt have minded it but no they ruin Peter's Personality and make him a huge wimp as his punches from the gameplay barely even hurt standard thugs while MJ's Gun thingy can take out symbiotes very easily? WTF kinda game design is that? It does not help this games a buggy broken mess even after major patches neither.I was excited to see Venom be a threat in this game but no he gets killed off at the end with the ending feeling rushed yet too long at the same time.

My issues with the game became so clear after the honeymoon phase(mind you I preordered, tried getting the 19 inches of venom and everything so I was hyped). I’ll start with the good so I can tear into this later lmao. The score is great first and foremost, it always hit at all times without a doubt. The gameplay itself is also great imo, I wish they gave them different gadgets that would fit their kits better rather than the same shit but wtv. Love the size of the city, web wings, everything gameplay wise is incredible. The way they did Kraven as a character was amazing, he lived and died by his code, saying death can have him when it earns him was fucking cooooooold. I also loved the Earl and Howard side missions, made me acc tear up. The music for Howard’s mission was also perfect. The new suits, NOT including the cum suit and the devolved suit💀 I also think that the way Norman was pleading Harry to stop as he literally kills Osbornes security is one of the best parts of the game because it shows how much he loves him. Norman as a whole is MASSIVELY a better character here. The issues start with predictability, venoms identity was 0 surprise, the Pete fake out death was also not as hard hitting because we knew he’d be back anyways so I was just waiting for the symbiote to come. The villains getting off screened is ridiculous. Miles’ side missions were absolutely dogshit lol, that homecoming, kidnapped mascot, and atrociously bad deaf chick mission was some of the worst things I’ve had to do in gaming. Miles’ paper was also just a plot point solely there for exposition so miles could tell people what happened and what’ll happen, then was just left to die. Manly Jaw Watson as a character was possibly the worst part in this game. I can put my life on the fact that they cut out Spiderman scenes just to force people to play with her and she not only completely broke immersion numerous times by how stupidly op she was but were so pointless idk why we had to do them. The one and only time it should’ve been used was the Pete chase sequence to show what type of monster he became, and she should’ve had to sneak past the hunters, they’re trained to kill, a bitch with no training should not ever hang with an army alone. The way she emasculates and humiliates Pete is also absurd. The bitch had this dude demean himself and call himself selfish even though he’s the one person in that city who has the right to be that. He lets his aunt/mother figure die for the city, loses his mentor, fights for days and nights with broken ribs, loses his best friend, all because it’s the right thing to do yet that creep has the right to call him selfish when she is the one who is selfish lmfao. Wanting to overshadow Pete because she has an inferiority complex. The symbiote arc itself was rushed beyond belief. We had barely any time with the symbiote so he went from “hey buddy let’s find Connor’s to give this suit back to you” to “your family left you cuz you’re too weak pussy hahah” and “pop more pills fuck boy” to “I’m about to kill Kraven and now you Miles”. That is ridiculous, they should’ve had side missions like Yuris or some others that you HAD to do before continuing the main story so we could see others interact with this new suit, not hear about how that random clown on the podcast thinks it’s too dark and gloomy? Now going to the anti venom and devolved suits😐Anti Venom to Peter is a yes yes yes, but the colour blocking and texture of the suit is awful. The black on the arms is awkward and the white looks like he’s covered in nut. Miles on the other hand, left in the middle of an invasion, hit up adidas, got a sponsorship, and wore an advertisement to the last fight. Not only is it hideous, doesn’t conceal his identity in the slightest, but it’s a fucking advertisement bruh😭 I’m gonna not get into the politics and virtue signaling in this game because that would require a whole other essay but I’ll just say this, I never felt more racist, homophobic or sexist after playing this game. Forced pandering only does harm, never good 👍🏼

8:47 I personally would’ve made the game longer. First have Venom hunting you through the city complete with his ability to turn invisible. Make him attack you through all the NPCs you did Side missions with before that part of the game. And if you start avoiding NPCs you’ve helped in the past as well as incomplete side missions, Venom will straight up attack them in order to flush you out. Also Venom attacks Miles and Miles’s NPCs more, because he’s mad about being replaced. Also don’t save Carnage for DCL. The symbiote invasion is more his thing, so yeah. Have him and Venom team up for a bit, but then split so that we can play as Venom more than once. Yes, ultimately I’m saying Venom should have been more like Nemesis than Knull, because he is more like that when he’s evil.

Well, once again, I think this pretty much sums up the issues with the game more or less; how the story was created, the development of the characters, etc. For me, I thought the TL;DR of their downfall with this installment is that they felt "oh we can slap some symbiotes in it, call it revolutionary, get critical acclaim and we win automatically. instantly better than our first installment!" = no. Many glaring issues with main content and side content, especially Miles's side content, and makes one go wow what a waste. One of the points you made I wanted to rest on about was making Peter come to terms with a dark reality so it enables the importance of gaining the symbiote. In this case, the method would be through not being able to save someone as you mentioned. The problem Insomniac created for themselves, with the way they wrote in Peter in this game--him being unequivocally nerfed, is that even if such thoughts were sparked from the roller coaster incident---which made me ask "do you expect me to believe this, he's struggling this time not outright fatigued like the first game and the building fire", or the pier incident with Li escaping, him calling out to Miles for help which again made me ask "you expect me to believe this?", they created this whole problem of making this hard to believe since well as you said it yourself in the Peter got nerfed video, Parker was portrayed as every single adjective title he got through his comicbook lines throughout the years, like he's been doing this for years. He was able to multi-task saving ppl in the first game, when on scene. It's even worse now if they tried since well he actively upgraded his suit, so it's not like he rested on his laurels doing nothing to better himself yet those arms are barely used except in game combos. Miles was not done well at all like I commented about a bit before in your Peter was nerfed video. I would rather take him from his 1.5 game than this. The problems with him, as you laid out briefly, extend far past that last suit. So there were many marks that were missed with something that could've been 10x greater than what they made originally, but then again, if you look at the writing team, then it becomes plain as day as to why we got what we got.

Great take! I mostly agree, although I do feel more generous towards the first two thirds of the game. The reason why we didn't need the Coney Island lady to die in order for Peter's addiction to the symbiote to feel more natural is that his perceived "failure" as Spider-Man is the entire first game. We shouldn't underestimate how important the mission inside the OG Spidey's mind is: it shows us that he never got over what happened to Otto, to May, to Jeff, and he still blames himself for all of it. It's Spider-Man's fatal flaw in any universe, blaming himself for everything to an unhealthy degree. Overcompensating for the one act of selfishness that killed his uncle by being as selfless as he can, always, at any cost. Even when it becomes self destructive. And boy, does Insomniac get it. The core of Peter's psyche is literally represented as a scared child crying over his mother's corpse. How does it get more heartbreakingly accurate than that? Mr. Negative makes it clear that, as it should be, the symbiote didn't create any darkness inside of Peter: it just latched onto the pain, the anger, the fear that were already there. Just like the neural interface didn't create Doc Ock in the first game, it simply unleashed the worst side of Otto Octavius. Peter risks going down the same dark path as his mentor here, and that's a brilliant move by the devs, that's the natural progression of the story. ...but that's also when the problems begin. Just like in Spider-Man 3, I feel like Venom was rushed. Harry is more a plot point than a character, he's not as tragic and complex as Peter or Otto, and even when he gets close to that he just feels like their cheap copy. At the end, he's just a tool in the symbiote's hands, and the symbiote is little more than your generic doomsday villain. I get they HAD to put Venom in for the fans, but I think the best move would have been to simply take the symbiote off the stage after Peter ditches it. Hell, maybe keep the Venom playable section so the fans are happy (me included), only it's Peter being briefly consumed by the suit before he frees himself. But the ending, I think, should have been about the Spider-Men facing Kraven, or some other non-symbiote related threat. Then we could have had Eddie Brock/Venom in a future game, with the reveal that the alien survived and escaped. Just like in the comics, where there's a gap of YEARS between Peter ditching the symbiote and Venom showing up.

think you were specting the last of us 3 :) This was not a survival post apocalitptic zombie kind of story so for me the darker turn that you mention would not have worked. It was alright for civillians not to die, the mere scareness of the roller coaster situation works fine for Peter to think that the suit makes him better. You know, maybe I should do a rewrite on the game's story and here is what I came up with (I'll be focusing on the 3rd act by the way): Still keep Venom's introduction the same and his level the same before he ends up fighting Kraven and the boss battle is still the same before Venom kills Kraven the same way he did in the game before Harry realizes what he just did and jumps off to his mom's grave and still have to wonder what he just did before the Venom Symbiote starts talking to Harry and the two bond over how Peter abandoned them all for the sake of Miles before the Venom Symbiote tells Harry that, at first, he wasn't really interested in trying to heal the world, but upon seeing how that goal meant to Harry, he decides to help him out before showing Harry the same vision of the Symbiote spreading throughout the world before Harry asks if this is the best way to do it before Venom assures that they won't take over the world or anything, they just want the world to be its best self before Harry realizes Venom might be correct before he turns into Venom before jumping off. Afterwards, you still get to play as Venom as you go around New York and plant Symbiote Nests all over the city. You can web-swing and jump up pretty high in this level as well. As you are planting the Symbiote Nests all over the City, Venom tells Harry about his origins and how he was one of Knull's most strongest warriors before he was exiled by Knull, due to the fact that he disobeyed him many times, before Harry realizes that he and the Symbiote may have more in common then he thinks before he tells Venom that his dad didn't care for him that much and favored Peter more then him, before Venom agrees with that before he shows Harry a flashback of him being experimented on by some OsCorp scientists while Norman Osborn watches it before the scientists see that Venom can't really take much more before Norman orders them to continue experimenting on Venom, causing the Symbiote to scream out in pain, without no one realizing that the Symbiote is a living being. After that, Harry is a bit horrified before thinking that his own dad is just some prick before deciding to let his own dad suffer instead of turning him into a Symbiote. After you are done planting Symbiote Nests all over the City, Venom senses some other Symbiotes near by and decides to go and try to get whatever Symbiotes are there before Harry sneaks into the OsCorp station that has those Symbiotes before he turns into Venom and beats up all the guards there, while not killing them, before Venom tries to kill one before Harry convinces him not to since they are just doing their job before Venom decides to knock the guard out before breaking into the room where all the Symbiotes, he sensed, are before he turns back into Harry before Harry goes in and get the Symbiotes that were being hold in before Venom recognizes one of them as Scream, his sister, before the two Symbiotes end up reuniting with each other before Harry asks Scream what was a Symbiote like her doing here with the other Symbiotes that were also here, before Scream explains that, after Venom was exiled, she blamed Knull for her brother being exiled and tried to get revenge on him, only for him to beat her and send her offworld to Earth, with a few other Symbiotes that disobeyed Knull. After Scream's explanation, Venom tells her that he might know a host that will be perfect for her before Harry turns back into Venom and Venom breaks the canisters containing them before Venom grabs them and puts them inside his body so he can carry them all. After that, Venom jumps on top of a building and says that they are going to "Heal" Everyone before Harry says yes before Venom jumps off to start inflecting people with the Symbiote. (Yeah, that is all that I came up with, if anyone is reading this, then can you try to help me rewrite the 3rd act of Spider-Man 2)

I feel the game's story is not that great, and it could be improved. I say that if Peter, throughout the story, when Harry comes back, he prefers to spend time with Miles, right? He goes to Miles when he needs help. It's always Miles, Miles, Miles, and Harry feels kind of betrayed, right? So when Harry starts developing superhero powers with the symbiote, Peter begins to slightly favor him more but the lady at the fair dies at the hands of peter so he goes to Miles the only one who understands him because if what happened with Phin, we get a solo mission with harry or agent venom as hes called, where he aims to do something with kraven, instead of that mj mission, he begins to explore that power set and begins to become a better hero, he talks to the symbiote and feels abandoned by Peter, then moments after he's forced to give up his powers as he hands the symbiote to Peter so he survives, he's now sick once more and powerless. The game would keep going as normal but Peter would spend more time with the symbiote as he normally does in the game his changes would be more gradual but more dramatic and drastic, he would become way more of a dick to everyone than he normally does, since nobody dies at the hands of symbiote spider-man he thinks he's better with the suit than without it, then the story continues as usual, he takes it off because of miles' persuasion like in the normal game , the symbiote now feels abandoned by Peter due to Miles, Osbornes alternative cure keeps failing so Peter despite everything he did and knows about the symbiote, forces himself to give it back to harry, harry bonds with the symbiote and they fuel off each other's feelings of abandonment caused by Miles. The later part of the game is completely scrapped and we get 2 more venom missions, this is where he goes to kraven and forms an alliance, he wants information about Miles, so kraven focuses on sending himself to discover everything about Miles, he then gives that information to Harry, but he cannot let him go because of what he did to him at the zoo, Harry goes crazy and kills kraven in an unceremoniously vigorous fashion, in the second mission we see as he, Harry snoops around Miles, he begins to understand everything about him, to the point where he comes out to Miles and tortures him in the same way as he does Peter in the ultimate spiderman series, he does not go for Peter since he has nothing aginst him, and he's got nothing to lose exept mj and Miles, he comes up with the name venom and kills miles' mother, as morbid as that may sound I feel insomniac went into this story way too safe, no deaths occurred and stuff was too bland. Anyways miles goes sicko mode on venom and almost kills venom, but then venom gains the upper hand, Peter is now at the scene and is forced to some how mitigate the situation, after all he's guilty of creating venom, but he also can't give up on miles the one that carried him through the story because of teh death and taking off the suit, he has to choose and he should learn taht spider-man cant save everything and everyone, what would he do? Was that a good story fix, could that realistically work and how could the story go on so that we keep venom around, Norman is still passed at the spider-men for not saving harry instead creating an abomination of his son and a way for Peter and venom to maybe team up later in a dlc against carnage?

Spider-Man (1) was all about things happening due to motivations and conflict pushing the plot forward. Makes for a more organic and personal feel. The symbiote has no personal beef with Peter or Miles in this game. Harry has no real beef with Peter or Miles in this game. Kraven has no real beef with Peter or Miles in this game. Sure, he's killing off the former's villains but, as surface-level as that gets, it's a fairly weak source of conflict, especially when it's not really being amplified enough by the symbiote angle. As you said, SAFE stuff. Where are the memorable moments? Then, on the other hand, you have MJ/Scream venting on Peter, which feels completely out of place due to how little development and time that "angle" had. As a result, it comes across as the WRITERS shouting a message at YOU, the player. You can't have the cake and eat it, too. If you got too many characters in the spotlight, reduce the amount or prepare to extend the story/game time. Instead, Insomniac just kills off a bunch in disingenuous ways. Last, but not least, I did NOT like the treatment they gave Peter in this game. Is this really supposed to be an experienced, relatively mature version of Spider-Man who's a capable mentor and future husband figure? Disrespectful, in my opinion.

Kinda Ironic how the spider fans wanna stops the writers traumatizing peter, but also wants peter to have bigger impact of emotion by getting some he loved killed again. The loss peter had was with may, or cops (yuri) or many more innocent people. They've shown it in the previous games but, yeah they didn't show it here. Just say peter always had the emotion of loss and he keeps holding it in because he is "spiderman" he's talkative state is that he doesn't care that he loss some, he'll keep saving who he can. Like the multiverse said you can't save everyone but you're still spiderman. Venom in the other corrupted he's mind, and made him think those deaths were more and more important, that he could've done better by killing the vallains which isn't peter. Personally I had a great time with this game. As a whole I do think I felt more fulfilled with the story of the first game although this game did also have a lot of high points. One issue I was worried would happen and in a way it kind of did, was after Kraven had served his purpose in the story, he was kind of forgotten about and the reason for doing what he did I didn't think was emphasised enough. By the time I finished the story I ended up thinking to myself "Oh yeah, Kraven was in the game". I also didn't really care for having Kraven killing villains off screen. I thought Harry was handled quite well and I enjoyed his friendship with Peter but him as Venom was one aspect I don't think really worked for me to be honest. He felt more like a generic world ending villain which Venom has always been against in the comics and has even thought to save people from such events. The game's approach of having Harry as the host for the Symbiote as the story progressed didn't really matter as not much about Harry's personality was reflected in Venom which kind of cheapened the character. It would helped make the thread more emotionally impactful if they had kept the stakes low with an emphasis on the personal battle between Venom and Peter. Overall it felt like Venom in name and appearance only. Maybe there's a little bias in me because I'm a huge Eddie Brock and Flash Thomson fan and I love their development in the comics and they will always be my favourite Venom hosts.

Spider-Man 2 was a good game but unfortunately it was just kinda similar to what we’ve seen before and didn’t really change much 🤷‍♂️ the story wasn’t nearly as long enough to flush out the things they wanted to push and you can also say the same for the combat which sucks 😭

1. It’s literally shown in this game that Peter’s still upset about Aunt May’s death. That’s why he feels like he’s failing as Spider-Man in this game. 2. Yeah. I’ll admit. The symbiote invasion could’ve had more depth. 3. I can’t believe I have to say this again. But I will. PETER PARKER WAS NOT NERFED IN THIS GAME. He still lifts things off of himself in the game’s main story. And he still has ways of getting out of difficult situations. He has his iron spider arms which can shoot webs and electricity. And before people say it, Kraven stabbed Peter the second he caught Peter’s punch. To Peter’s knowledge, the only villain Kraven killed at this point was Scorpion. He didn’t know about Vulture, Shocker, and Electro being dead at this point.

We definitely needed more examples of either Peter failing as Spider-Man, or more instances of the black suit allowing him to absolutely annihilate his oppents; like in Spectacular Spider-Man when he casually beats all the Sinister Six with the symbiote.

Miles whooped symbiote Pete after getting jumped by Kravens entire crew. Miles also hung with winged Venom while that mf was carrying Pete by his head. If that isn’t nerfed idk what else is😂

@@kuro5041 Miles didn’t even win the fight with Peter. He only survived due to Peter’s conflicting thoughts, and he had the symbiote’s kryptonite with him. Miles was not beating Venom. He was about to die before Peter woke up and attacked. Play the game before you comment.

@@kuro5041 again. Miles wasn’t winning against Venom. He had to be saved by MJ and then Peter had to come in and bail him out of this situation. And Peter was conflicted while he was fighting Miles due to the symbiote’s control. Play the game before you comment.

The game was good but kraven just felt like filler to much and for me never felt truly intimidating. Venom act was great but felt over all to quick! I also wish we got to fight a few more villains

My problem with Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is Insomniac giving Peter's place to Miles Morales with the "taking a break" excuse. We are talking about Peter Parker! Spider-Brat could NEVER take the real Spider-Man's place! Apart from that, the game is great.

Honestly I feel like the game would’ve been much better off not having venom as an antagonist. They could’ve shown everything entirely the same up until Harry became agent venom and just had Harry be agent venom for the rest of the game. Couldve built Harry as a character and then have the venom storyline in the 3rd game. Gives us so much more time with Harry and bully lowenthal in the third game.

I think the game is 10/10 personally. But yeah in a perspective of wanting to make it perfect was to go more darker and emotional. The gameplay and bossfight is, some easter eggs and hyped up coming new characters is phenomenal. Insomniac could've use 110% of potential for the game story, then I hoped the next games, would really complete the satisfaction. Especially green goblin the most iconic villain. I hope, the relationship of peter and norman has a fine line of a father figure or something, but that kinda repeats peter and otto, so I really don't know, maybe they repeat it but still make it unexpectedly unexpected. One thing miles suit was ahh, and should keep the real "OG miles morales" suit intact.

The game is still a masterpiece but I can definitely see the reasons why it didn't win game of the year and has a tiny bit of flaws, One of my guesses is I'm assuming Sony might have rushed insomniac games to release this game Just so they can boost some sales on the PS5, Probably explains the reasons why the game had a tiny bit of bugs and glitches. I really don't want Sony to put too much pressure on insomniac games, The real reason why the first game worked and was awesome from my point of view was insomniac games was just a single studio and they took all the time they need making sure the game looks polished and clean and the concept arts almost looked exactly like scenes that are in the game itself and they knew what they were doing. I'm guessing Sony wants to keep milking the Spider-Man franchises so they can keep the IP, I have a little bit of trust issues with Sony working on a bunch of Spider-Man projects don't get me wrong, the spider verse films, the past TV series and movies were very successful but the problem with Sony Spider-Man now is they are milking a bunch of lousy villain spin-off films and I'm sure they don't even care if they flunk or not and They are doing this just to keep the Spider-Man IP. During the game awards soon as I Saw that Spider-Man 2 Never got a single award and some tiny flaws on the internet I knew something was wrong, However, from my point of view, Marvel Spider-Man 2 is still a masterpiece and is not a bad game, But Sony really needs to get off insomniac's back and let them do what they need to do cuz I don't want Sony to be pushing them too much.

@@M64bros Miles morales is more emotional than the second game and I actually like the story. I’ve replayed the game a lot and there’s nothing wrong with the story. For the second game, I’m afraid to say this but I got a feeling that they are becoming lazy. There’s way less symbiote takedowns for some weird reason, Peter base combat hasn’t change much from the previous game and they also didn’t change the way Peter fight with the symbiote suit on which is weird because it changes the way he fights in the comics, the other useless side missions should of been the old villians but some reason they got killed by Kraven which is totally unnecessary, venom should of had more screen time and it shocks for him to be near end game.

The pandering to leftist and game journalists was unreal. the mj missions, basically all of miles cringe side missions, and the fact that the police never show up except one time and it’s when Pete complains about them and we never see them again throughout the story, and finally that scream boss fight where mj complains about Pete being spider man and never spending time with her and for some reason Pete becomes an absolute doormat and just apologizes the entire time
