The Howard missing is probably one of the best missions I've ever played in a game. Soaring through New York as a childhood hero to some jams surrounded by a flock of pigeons I worked to capture in the first game. So much fun. Then to have the emotional hit at the end, I was crying like a baby.

At first, I thought that not killing Harry was such a copout because there had to have been some bigger consequences, especially since technically Peter fumbled the Symbiot, causing it to break free. However, now that I see this video, I understand why the writers opted to save Harry at the end. I absolutely love this game!

As someone whose introduction to Spider-Man was the first Raimi movie, I have been waiting with bated breath to see how Insomniac introduces Green Goblin. He's by far my favorite villain and I love that they're playing the long game with Norman. Can't wait for Goblin to finally show his face one day.

What? It makes perfect sense. Spider-Man is why Harry is the way he is. It’s public knowledge that a) there was a hero running around with the black suit, and then b) Spider-Man suddenly has it, and then he fails to save Harry at the end. Norman knows enough to put together what happens, though he probably doesn’t know it’s Peter.

@@WeMissDimebag he gave Harry the symbiote, he knew what was happening with him 🤨 this was before blacksuit Spider-Man. He also practically begs Spider-Man to save Harry, knowing Harry has essentially zero chance for survival going by Dr. Connors, and so Spider-Man delivering Harry alive to the paramedics/Norman is him doing exactly that (which is by all means a miracle). It's poor writing, headcanon-esque stuff required for people to connect to Norman's false justification. His writing prior to that point was good, wish they had saved him turning on Spider-Man until the next game if they couldn't fit it into this one. Overall though I believe the writing was weaker in this game compared to the first, but that's not to say it was bad.

It’s a stretch, but this might be Andi Benton from the comics, who becomes Mania (a character who’s exposed to a clone of the Venom symbiote).

As a 90s kid that was obsessed with Spider-Man. In particular the McFarlane run and the whole symbiote storyline. All I’ve wanted was to see the symbiote storyline done right. This game was absolutely incredible, a dream come true, and had my jaw on the floor over and over again. I just beat it last night and started my second play through today. My only quibble is I wish there was one more fight against Venom before the final confrontation. Could’ve used just a tad bit more Venom overall, other than that it’s a perfect game in my eyes.

same bro that’s my only gripe that they could have spent a bit longer on the symbiote but if you save all the stuff (besides the sand man crystals) for when u have the symbiote suit you get a while to just free roam and hit crimes. Crimes are the best thing for alternate dialogue especially after the lizard boss and you first get symbiote suit. On 3rd playthrough and if you do all the side stuff after lizard mission you get the best alternate dialogue. Photos and blinds have alternate dialogue but sand man crystals don’t I believe

The way cultural things were handled in Miles story (flags aside) Im Black and Puerto Rican from The Bronx, NY, you guys beyond Nailed so many fucking things. The dialogue and relationship between Miles and his mom (down to them dancing together real quick) they wrote her as such a strong example of a New York Puerto Rican mother, Especiallyyy her checking Peter when he calls her after the symbiote is gone and she scolds him as her sons friend, I was floored . Chop Cheeses, “Thank You Big Bro” with prayer hands from Miles (big sign of respect for an older peer out here) the dialogue between him and Uncle Aaron, FUCK Thank You for the writers on Miles end SO FUCKING MUCH !!!!

Of the games you mentioned I have only played FF16 (the first FF game I have ever played all the way through and loved), Phantom Liberty (now tied with Jedi for 2nd place, and Spiderman 2. Survivor just really hit me on a crucial emotional gut level. Only SP2 and Cyberpunk do a better job at that. Regardless 2023 has been THE MOST INSANE year for video games ever! Lol

When he said he loves the voice overs for when Pete and miles are fighting I love hearing how much it meant because playing it you feel that direness that miles is feeling. Peter saying that now the city thinks he’s the problem is the symbiote just feeding on every negative emotion in Pete’s head. While then miles is telling him no I’m not losing a brother like I lost my dad. Insomniac makes us care about what each of them are going through and then in the end miles helps remind Pete of who he is and that image of him ripping the symbiote off his face and revealing Pete in his classic insomniac suit as the music swells for his theme is just my favorite moment in the game. It’s straight out of raimi Spider-Man and a ton of comics but it’s just Pete showing hey he’s stronger then this fucking suit and he’s not guna lose himself. While again it’s miles reminding him he is Spider-Man and he’s better. Like there’s no animosity between either of them they just know what it means to be Spider-Man. I can’t believe insomniac pulled it off with two heros and really just flexing at how much they understand who the character of Spider-Man is…

Could pull a Superior Spidey - I mean, the PS4 credits showed Otto in Spidey's head, at minimum a nod and foreshadowing at most, AND Pete ultimately came back Worth noting that instead of the Raimiverse's Osborn death bookend, the first one ended with Aunt May croaking It's not just Osborns, think of the reversed rogues galleries and the different falls to villainy for them - Norman dying is Harry's downfall, Harry's coma here means Norman's downfall One-Above-All forbid, though, Emjay (MJ) gets Gwen'd (read: croaks) like her MC2 self against the Inheritors - defending her new family (permanently this time and at least they got kids like they wanted)? Heck, if it matters, this "Civil War" (like the movie counterpart) killed no heroes (although Harry technically got a coma)

Having a daughter who turning 2 but when she was born we was told she had loss of hearing . Playing Hailey in the game was impactful and also an experience I thought I would not see in the game. I don't like how he assumes that we "DON'T KNOW WHAT WE WANT." We already voiced our opinions that the Mary Jane missions suck. There's nothing he can say or do to convince us that they'll be good to play through. Not unless you actively make her a playable super hero. Doing that would only take away from the fact that this is a SPIDER-MAN GAME. Also players want to choose when they slow down their gameplay experience. IT'S CALLED EXPLORATION!! Swinging around the city gives us enough of that. We don't need a FORCED pace slowdown.

Mr. Intihar, Mary Jane could have been a hero in her own way and serve as inspiration for everyday people like us. I mean you can't have super powers in real life but you can still make a difference by helping others, seeking justice and truth and by staying true to who you are and what you believe is correct. Those could have been the lessons her character could have promoted. But no, your people decided that, making her a kick ass brute was a better idea, another muscle in the team. And she can still be playable, the game has a lot of stealth mechanics, mission types and even a camera that you could have retooled for Mary Jane, to do her Detective/Journalist work. That mission where Pete infiltrates Kraven's party could have been perfect for MJ. There are smart ways to empower women, the way your team did it was shallow and immature, that leads me to believe that you still took the easy route despite of it all.

The different ways these games flip some story lines and bring in so many characters really works for me and is something you can only get from a video game and not packed into a 2 hr movie. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 was great, BUT… if I’m being honest I didn’t like it as much as the first; it was shorter, less main missions and side content overall, didn’t love the pacing plus I was disappointed that we had to wait till the end to see venom only for a few missions. Great production value and next-gen gfx, just not the next-gen experience I was looking for.

Although I love Bryans passion with Spider-man and heavily enjoyed Spider-man 2. I can't help but feel that this entry was incredibly rushed. We didn't get multiple fights with Venom, we didn't get to fight Kraven as Peter without the symbiote to show how strong he is or really get hunted by him throughout the city, we didn't get any challenges for Peter and it really felt like they took away the symbiote from Peter far too quickly. We get a couple scenes with the symbiote to show Peter changing then its gone? I thought it was supposed to show that the symbiote was akin to addiction. We also didn't really get any gadgets aside from the few we get where Spider-man 1 had multiple. I was also so excited to play as Venom until I beat the game to find out we never play as him again which makes no sense. I really do love this sequel, I just wish the game was 5 - 10 hours longer since we we're playing as 2 Spider-men. Hopefully Spider-man 3 or the DLC''s expand on everything that's missing.

Yeah, this I agree with 100%. I solely bought the Playstation 5 for Spider-Man because I was enamored with the first rendition which is a near masterpiece in every aspect. After finishing SM2, and feeling happy but deep down disappointed, I returned my playstation. I will repurchase a playstation 5 pro for Spider-Man 3. And I hope I can replay that game and enjoy it as much as I did the first. SM2 was a rushed product that still deserves its a praise. If not compared to the first game, this would be without a doubt a top 5 game of all time for me. But when you write such a lovely and handcrafted story like Spider-Man PS4. It's hard to look at SM2 and not constantly wonder how things just degraded in quality.

I feel the same way. I felt the game had a lot of moving parts but didn’t quite execute. I would’ve loved more Peter and Harry team up. Also was disappointed we didn’t get to see Miles really dealing with the loss of his best friend. He lost two important people to him in such a short span. I think a mission specifically for him to deal with that loss would have been great.

@@davidk713 I just noticed recently that some people didn't get to experience the team up with Harry outside of the main mission in the random crime events. So if you immediately follow the golden path mission after Harry helps you, you pretty much miss out on Harry's ally team up during the random crime events.

Both the first game, and Miles had prequel novels. I think this should have had a prequel novel about Peter and MJ in Symkaria

THABK YOU BRYAN AND INSOMNIAC! This is one of the best video games I’ve ever played AND best Spider-Man stories I’ve ever seen! The game has honestly one of the best endings to both a video game and a Spider-Man story I’ve ever seen! The fight with Venom alone is incredibly tough and challenging, but you can absolutely feel the pain in Peter as he’s trying with every fiber of his being to reach Harry. What I really love though is that Peter has finally admitted to himself and MJ that he is *truly tired,* not just physically but spiritually and emotionally. As much as he likes being Spider-Man, he wants to finally put all of his focus on himself and MJ. And the way he told Miles was perfect, he’s absolutely confident that he trained his apprentice well enough that he can handle being the one and only Spider-Man. And in the final post credit scene when they introduced Cindy Moon aka Silk I jumped with joy. She is perfect for this game series! Also I hope Shirtless Spider-Man becomes their constant cameo, like Stan Lee may he Rest In Peace was for the Marvel movies.

1:19:54 With the hint of Silk being in the next game… it would be cool to make MJ become scaletMJ… it would be a great character change since she has been in both games and played a part… how this would work is to take a page out of she hulks comic origin… where MJ goes on one of those dangerous missions that Peter tells her not to go on without him she gets severely hurt… it too dangerous to seeing her to a hospital so Peter gives her a blood transfusion until help arrives then over some time she shows Pete that she can also stick to the ceiling like miles showed Pete in spiderman ps4
