This movie was INCREDIBLE. That being said, it wasn't just your theater with the bad sound mixing. I and other people I've talked to also felt that the dialogue in the opening and almost all of Spider-Punk's lines were mixed really low compared to other sounds. Couldn't disagree with Greg more. This movie is incredible and a masterpiece in animation. There is a full story but it's Spider-Gwen's story. The movie starts and ends with her. @jadenkootenay8549 Жыл бұрын
I'm sorry but if you study script writing and literature you'd understand why this movie has no plot and is bad from a story and writing perspective. The movie starts off with Gwen sure and her problems with her father, but that literally get solved off screen which her father's decision to quit and Gwen finds out in a 2 minute scene. That's not good writing. The actual main part of the story and problems are that a) miles is an anomaly b) miles doesn't want his dad to die c) miles ends up in the wrong universe.none of these problems get a conclusion and None of these problems have anything to do with Gwen so your point is invalid. Beautiful Animation is carrying this movies reception and reviews but from a writing perspective this movie was just a 2hr20min set up.

How is this in any way Gwen's story? Sure the movie started out with her and the complications with her father. But those issues literally get resolved off screen with her father's decision to quit, and he tells her in a 2 min scene out of a 2hr20min movie. The major plot points are a)miles is an anomaly b)miles dad might die c)miles ends up in the wrong universe. Absolutely none of these plot points has anything to do with Gwen so I'm confused on how you can say it's her movie??
@Caveboy0 Жыл бұрын
@@jadenkootenay8549 plot is not the same as story. Gwen finds herself in the most difficult moment of her life since Peter died and runs away by the end she finds resolution with her father and in building the band to go out and save miles. Miles internally finds that same confidence but doesn’t have that ability to talk to his parents in this movie so it’s still unresolved. Don’t get so mad dude movies can have multiple stories. Plot events aren’t the same.
@jadenkootenay8549 Жыл бұрын
@Marco Miceli yes movies can have side stories. But your claiming "this was Gwen's story". How when none of the main plot points that move the MAIN story have nothing to do with Gwen. And Gwen's story is literally the opening 10 min, her 2 min talk with miles about here fears of Gwen's fate in every other universe, then here 2 min talk with her father. I just don't see how that little in a 2hr20 min movie and you have the confidence to comments "this was Gwen's story"

There's small nods i love in the movie like Miles & George's badges, a couple of posters in Miles & Gwen's rooms, acknowledging some of the young folks out there, saying this story is for them as well, and the conversation Gwen has with her dad, saying "you put on that badge because you know if you don't, someone who shouldn't will" inspired her to do the same really hits without being preachy or on-the-nose. Sure Mile’s is the main Spider on the poster and the over arching story is two parts, but Greg brought up Infinity War. That movie is called Avengers, but that wasn’t a complete story from their point of view either. It felt complete because it was complete from THANOS’ point of view. Infinity War started and Ended with Thanos; Across the Spiderverse started and ended with Gwen.

I understand the feeling of anxiety about wanting to watch the next one right away, but I felt like Across the Spider-Verse had a very “Empire Strikes Back” ending in that one person (Han/Miles) needs saving by his will they/won’t they girlfriend (Leia/Gwen) and their best friend (Luke/Peter). They get a group together and are going to save him before the ultimate conflict is resolved. I felt it was infinitely better executed as an ending as well than Fast X. Fast X clearly ended in the middle of the story with no closure on any character arcs or themes. Gwen’s character arc is more or less complete after this movie: she is working with others, feeling more vulnerable, finding ways to be better than any group she was a part of, and truly living up to her dad’s example.

The thing he eats in the bodega is a Jamaican beef patty. They're delicious and you need to try one if you haven't. They're all over the place in New York whenever you next visit here

I didn't like this movie nearly as much as the first one. The plot points in this movie dont get resolved. Only Gwens plot gets resolved. And thats only in the beginning and end of the movie. It's Miles movie. Most of the movie is about him so I dont get the comments saying this was Gwens movie. Its 25% Gwens and 75% Miles. Miles get vastly more screen time. Miles plot with his parents doesn't get resolved. The villain plot doesnt get resolved. 2099 Spiderman lost his family and went to a different dimension to be with them. Which is pretty much just Kingpin in the first movie trying to bring his family back. Its not the same thing but the feeling I get are similar. So his plot wasnt that interesting to me. The ending completely ruined the film for me. It's an incomplete movie and I left the theater completely unsatisfied. Its all set up for the third one and that sucks. It was a massive miss for me and I haven't been this disappointed from something in a while.

Just watched The Flash review and this back-to-back and I cannot believe Greg didn't like this AND had The Flash as his favourite DCEU entry overall. I know personal preference is subjective, but I don't think I've ever had such a juxtaposition of opinion with him previously.
