Sabastian Stan and Anthony Mackie actually became very good friends through the movie and this show. Check out the interviews they did together. They even kept up with one another through the pandemic.

I love this series. It was less comic book and more spy thriller with comic book elements. Very grounded and, to your point, Sam and Bucky do work well on screen.

I really love this series it's top 3 out of the Marvel Disney plus shows for me. They couldn't flesh out the full story of the Flag Smashers due to this being filmed during the pandemic that's my only critic but the chemistry between Anthony and Sebastian made this so damn enjoyable

People gave this show (and especially the finale) a lot of crap for landing in a “centrist” political place, but personally I was really impressed with how maturely and explicitly it tackled those politics. Really really dig this one.

I'm glad you appreciated the relationship between Sam and Bucky! They really are one of the BEST duos and you'd probably enjoy watching the interview moments between Anthony and Sebastian because they are good friends and HILARIOUS together in interviews. And I agree this show did SO much for Sam's character! He was good in the movies and even without the show I was ready for him to be Captain America, but this show fleshed him out and what the realities of being Captain America means to him. So many people think that serum and the face is what makes someone Captain America, but just like most of these Marvel heroes, the name is a mantel, what matters is the values and the heart within. Bucky's had a bit more in the movies, but even this show took his development even further. And I LOVE the bond he's formed with Sam and his family! Definitely my favorite MCU show even though there are other shows that are TECHNICALLY better. The emotion in this one just spoke to me most. The first movie with Sam as Captain America comes next year and I can't wait!

I can't believe you worked out who the Power Broker was right away. I've not seen anyone else figure it out that early! Also, fun fact - Wyatt Russell, the guy who plays John Walker, is the son of Kurt Russell, Ego from Guardians Of The Galaxy 2.

I'm surprised Michelle's **Big Brain** didn't immediately notice Bucky's old arm in the flashback. But I knew she would eventually get there. 😉

Mackie and Stan were often paired together for press for movies like Civil War and Infinity War. They also did a bunch of Comic conventions and stuff together, and it was clear early on they had chemistry. That chemistry is what essentially inspired them to make this show. As far as John Walker, I don't think he's crazy. He is a good person and a decorated soldier. I think the issue is that unlike Cap, he gets the serum after already seeing so much. He says to Lemar "Three badges of excellence to make sure I never forget the worst day of my life. We both know that the things that we had to do in Afghanistan to be awarded those medals felt a long way from being right." I think he suffers from PTSD. The government truly screwed him over. If that kill happens in a warehouse instead of in public, he would be up there getting another medal. Instead, they took away all of his benefits and rank, which most certainly isn't a good thing.

I agree that the show short changed Bucky. He deserved more time dedicated to his journey. Sebastian did incredible work with what he got (any small glimpse of that Wakanda scene, and I'm ready to tear up again), but it was clear that the writer was more focused on Sam.

My favorite Marvel series to date. Addressing systemic racism, and the plight of refugees, this series is top-tier. Sam is and will always be the natural inheritor to the mantle of Captain America and I am looking forward to the next Captain America movie next year.

Random Fact: Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan did interviews together for Winter Soldier, even though they didn't have many scenes together, and that was what put the idea of teaming them up in the producers' minds. Very excited that Isaiah Bradely (played by Carl Lumbly) is coming back for Captain America 4. He's really great. I want to put him in everything. His grandson, Eli--the boy who opens the door, is one of the Young Avengers and there are rumors they want to make that a show or series so I'd love for him to come back for that too.

Carl Lumbly is so good! He's been popping up in Mike Flanagan's projects of late, most recently Fall of the House of Usher and looking forward to seeing him in Captain America: Brave New World next year :)

I love him. He was the first Black superhero on primetime TV in the 90s (in weird show called MANTIS) so I think he's a perfect person to play Isaiah.

lets talk about the fanbase's hypocrisy of bucky and John unlike John. bucky unlike John is an actual SERIAL MASS MURDERER of INNOCENT people will defend him by saying he was in his right mind but when John snaps after seeing his brother Lemar murdered in front of him people claim that terrorist is innocent but those same people forget that he was holding John down so Karli can kill John so please tell me how is he innocent people ill wait? Also the show tried to be brave pushing race issues but when they had the chance to truly go there they didnt. When bucky missed his mandatory court appointed session he was arrested and was going to be locked up for life instead of locking up this white guy they let him go. John used his government title of Captain America to tell the federal government to release him and what did that get him from the characters and fanbase further disrespect but if STOLEN VALOR steve did it people would cheer him make it make sense. cap 4 is going to suck.

i dont get the hate John Walker aka three time medal or honor recipient aka the greatest ACTUAL solider to ever live in the mcu aka a REAL soldier who actully earned the rank of CAPTAIN aka a soldier who didnt need PED'S to become a hero dude was a beast. who is steve without steroids i know the answer is hes a NOBODY. I need someone to tell me why are yall mad John killed a TERRORIST but when Steve led sam, wanda and natasha ILLEGALLY into Nigeria a sovereign nation which to the MURDER of innocent nigerian civilians, injuring many others and the destruction of peoples buildings what did steve do after oh thats right he went home without a care in the world he called it a win with no remorse. When T'Chaka called him out on worldwide tv he turned it off a told wanda she shoiuldnt feel bad for the innocents she murdered and injured but yall got a problem with the death of a TERRORIST make it make sense if that was Osama bin laden would people be mad?

I don't agree with everyone's immediate dislike of Walker either, but there's no need to slander Steve too lool When the incident in Nigeria happened, the literal last scene of it is Cap calling Sam to notify fire and rescue and telling them "we gotta get up there"-- as in, a mistake (not really on the Avengers' part other than brief incompetence and weakness on Steve and Wanda's part since she wasn't strong enough to contain the blast or redirect it elsewhere; and Steve had Bucky issues) was made and they dealt with the aftermath Not to mention they reflected on what happened, and that was the last straw for the UN to push the Sokovia Accords I don't completely understand why Walker killing the Flag Smasher was a big deal but upon reflection, there is a pattern that I remember in the MCU Whenever a hostile person is rendered effectively incapable of fighting or they surrender, there seems to be this unspoken rule that you're not supposed to keep attacking or worse kill them, but rather take them into custody or leave them for other authorities Examples I can think of are in Cap and the Winter Soldier movie, when the STRIKE team (Rumlow and his buddies) catch Steve, Sam and Natasha after their first fight against the Winter Soldier (and the reveal that he's Bucky), despite some of the STRIKE crew wanting to immediately kill them all, they know they can't because they're in public and... well.. I'm not exactly sure why that matters, but it did Weirdly, another example that comes to mind is Betty stopping the Hulk from killing the Abomination, though that's a bit different I think but the idea is the same: no killing in public The last example I'll cite is T'Challa being stopped from killing Klaue in... was it South Korea? In the first Black Panther movie-- because once again, they were in public I have some idea of why it's a big deal for anyone to kill in public even if it's killing someone who's a threat to the public, but this reply is getting long enough as is Personally, I feel as though the problem with Walker killing the Flag Smasher (even without considering the whole "no killing in public" rule) is just the moral principle of what he was doing in that moment Regardless of who that Flag Smasher was, or what he had done, or planned to do in the future--- in that moment, he was clearly incapable of fighting/ showed no intent to continue, and was practically begging for his life denying Walker's accusation that he had killed Lamar ("It wasn't me!") But in his rage, and with the serum most likely clouding his judgement even further, he murdered someone who was effectively helpless (and really, that guy probably hadn't killed anyone yet, it was Carli who was tipping off the edge and bringing everyone with her) I don't know if this is what soldiers do and I can't comment or judge on that basis--- but that's definitely not what a hero does, and Captain America is supposed to be a hero, not just a good soldier The ethics of the characters is one of the most important parts of what makes heroes great, I think-- and it's also why Steve was so revered But yeah, I do feel incredibly bad for Walker Knowing not much about the comics, I assume he's mostly just an anti-hero who briefly took the mantle of Captain America, so it was inevitable that he'd be led down this muddy road Ideally, I wish Sam and Bucky had been more friendly to him-- he really was just trying to be the best soldier he could be, but they shut him down at every opportunity cuz they were salty about the whole thing Not their greatest moment imo Not to mention Walker was clearly carrying alot of guilt from what he'd done as a soldier previously, maybe some PTSD, feelings of inadequacy compared to other enhanced or specially trained people, the stress of his new title, losing his lifelong friend, and receiving no real support from anyone-- rather being ostracized by them all... oof I don't expect he'll have a happy ending, but it'd be nice to get more redemption and healing for him... however, seeing as he's going to be working with Valentina as the US Agent... yeah.... Geez, sorry for the long reply btw

So since you only vaguely followed the storylines (and didn’t comprehend what you saw) I will answer your questions. 1. Walker isn’t the only soldier hero! Col. Rhoades (a higher rank than Captain) received the highest award a soldier could receive at the end of Ironman 2….2. The reason why everyone “hated” the new captain America is he was arrogant! He thought too highly of himself and he thought guys who literally saved half the friggin universe, should be subservient to him as opposed to trying to fit in with them! …3. The new training Averngers in Nigerian, DIDNT MURDER INNOCENTS ! Rumlow’s bomb murdered them!!! If anything, they saved hundreds of lives by preventing a biological weapon being released and stopping Rumlow’s bomb from exploding in the square! Imagine the damage if it went off on the ground as opposed to the upper floor of a high rise! 4. Captain America didn’t cold heartedly ignore the death! He explained to Wanda that sometimes you can’t save everyone, but if you don’t try maybe everyone dies! Lastly, you obviously you didn’t comprehend the message in Sam’s speech at the end of the series about name calling!!! I JS…
