Great reaction! Your instincts serve you well. The commercials do have meaning. The actor playing "recast Pietro" played the same character, Quicksilver, in the newer X-men movies. It was a huge bombshell when this episode first aired because of the potential multiversal implications of Disney now owning the movie rights to X-men characters.

I don't do spoiler comments, but some commenters below have already spoiled below. In order to understand the significance of the appearance of Wanda's brother you have to have watched most of the X-men movies (if you were going to watch them in release order). This is the first onscreen crossovers of 2 separate universes within Marvel, and it is the first time we see a character from the X-men which was previously owned by Fox in a Disney Marvel movie after Disney purchased the rights of these characters back from Fox. (It cost Disney $50 billion to get these characters back.) This crossover/ Universe thing might not make much sense to you now. But it will eventually. The crossover is a pretty big thing. The appearance of this version of Pietro is mind-blowing in context. I distinctly remember saying "Holy Cow!!! they are doing it!!!" But I didn't say cow.
