Ross, I took an old "Allen wrench", cut it down, then ground in a set of "pins" in the end of it. Technically, made a slotted driver for those "seats". Used it in both a 1/4" socket and a nut driver. It's only a suggestion. Yup, that's exactly what we did with all our gas tractors, at least until we had time to rebuild the carbs or had no choice. Awesome video, cheers :)

Gosh Ross I was getting frustrated just watching you putting those throttle butterfly screws in. I don't have the patience for very much of that tedious work so I applaud your patience and perseverance. I did remember in my toolbox I have a small slot screwdriver my dad gave me with a spring thingy on it that holds the screws in place on the screwdriver blade until you get them started. I always wondered what it would be useful for and watching you install those butterfly screws gave me my answer. Another great video as usual. I have enjoyed everyone so far.

Thanks for all the tips you gave while rebuilding that carb. I have only rebuilt 1 and that was in a 1941 Chevy coupe, which did run when I was finished.

Memories! See that NAPA Echlin still has a 2-1401 kit available. We used to have a shelf full of 2-1401, 2-1402, and 2-1403 kits and they covered many carbs. That small spring on the choke butterfly is very important for cold starts, and often is missing on an old carb. Thanks for the ride. Stay warm.

There are devices called tweezers, I use them frequently when dealing with small items due to having big finger sausages.😂😂😂

A quarter turn faster tool works well on the seats. It’s a race car tool for body panels.

I had an electrician friend in a past life who had a split blade screwdriver for holding those tiny screws to get them started. It was very handy it locked the screw on the blade tip by the slot. Don’t know what they call those but you could sure use one! Jb

I always kept those small screws and etc. that were left over in pill containers. That way when you were rebuilding a carb in the field using the toolbox door or tailgate on your truck and a mouse came up and ate one of your screws or tiny seals or gaskets you would always have a spare. Of course, if you have a spare screw you never lose one. Carb cleaner that we used to get was much better than anything sold today.

By now I should have enough parts to rebuild a few carbs without buying a kit but I'm always missing at least 1 part so I buy another kit 😆. I have a screwdriver that works perfectly for those seats but it's a garage sale special so I probably couldn't find another one.

I just found your page, I didn't know Oliver made a three row combine, now I found this M-S rebuild I have an A-C G as a down the road project. It was so informative, I have farmalls mostly but so much cross over different brands. I'm in N.C. not many Olivers around. But maybe I'll find one someday. I may avoid the Fiats though. So, new follower, new subscriber.
