Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 Is A Couch Co-Op Superhero Party

Almost 10 years after the last game in the series, Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order comes to Nintendo Switch this week. It feels like a throwback to the simple style of combat that I remember from games like X-Men Legends on the PlayStation 2. Having it on Switch makes for that same kind of couch co-op action on the go or at home.

Listening to them (GameXplain) I got the impression they weren't the biggest marvel fans...I love beat em ups & marvel. Ive played the other MUA games and loved them so I'm gonna love this too.

Agreed! Gamexplain came off as though they had no excitement about this game at all. This preview was much better.

I usually like GameExplain (they talk alot of sense about skipping the Lite for the new model Switch, for example), but they dropped the ball a bit here. This is no masterpiece but its great, simple fun and a worthy Switch exclusive!

Looks like a good old fashioned couch co-op game like Streets of Rage. Its honestly refreshing to see it as a retail release with a big license. I thought games like this had died off and the licensed games were mostly on phones.

The couch coop is great, but be prepared to deal with camera issues. lots of them. especially in local coop.

There 2 two camera angles. Top down, which is suited for couch-co op and behind the shoulder of whoever you are controlling, which is better for solo.

A couple of thoughts in regards to that... There was a potential leak in regards to Nick Fury by marvel themselves they posed a question of who you would play as and he was one of the characters listed in the picture post! Additionally Vision and Beast have both been seen in what seems like most likely playable sections but no confirmation! Colossus and Cyclops probably DLC but are possibilities as well Nebula/Loki are outside bets and Ant Man seems probable as well Nick Fury Vision Ant Man Cyclops Colossus Nebula Loki

J Scheller i have the game already and the inside of the box where it holds the cart, there’s an artwork of every playable character in the game(something akin to Smash Ultimate). Interestingly, Loki is in there and he’s the only one in this artwork who wasn’t announced to be playable before! 🤔

You can do co op with one game and 1-4 controllers or (2 joy cons that make 4 controllers). You’d only need two switches if you wanna do co op mode and wanna keep the camera to your character and use the heroic cam

Chaika Gaz Solo will probably be very good since you can change which character you play as on the fly. You can just select your 4 favorite characters and just keep switching between them with a quick tap on the d pad. Plus the camera for solo is much more clear and consistent than co op

Not to throw shade but did you really enjoy this game? You sounded bored while discussing it and your inflection and transition to different subjects during the review made it sound like you were reading someone else's words.
