When he says "I could warn him, but his reality is not worth risking all the others." I think the Watcher was saying "This will be tragic to watch, but it must happen" because he plans to enlist Supreme Strange for his own multiverse saving cause later on. Another small thing you missed is how Strange changed his mind on demonic insects. When he sees the first bug, he declines to absorb it, saying that he “draws the line at bugs” (or something like that.) Later, during the montage, Strange has some distinctly insect like appendages. Meaning that he’s definitely changed the lines that he’s willing to cross on his mad quest. Obviously that’s not the worst line to cross, but it’s a very clear example of his changed opinions.

The "absolute point" is a recurring theme in time-travel fiction. Though it's usually called something else, the concept is the same: a point in time that cannot be altered.

Marvel really digging into the impact of grief in these last two episodes. How grief can become a world/universe altering emotion if it spirals out of control with someone with the powerful tech/abilities. LAdd in WandaVision, and it becomes clear that Marvel really wants to hammer that point home.

I don’t think absolute points apply to Kang and quantum MCU timelines and all that. Instead it’s a purely time stone based rule. You can’t use the time stone to go back in time if you never get the stone in the first place. Christine has to die for the timestone to be in stranges possession. If this was Quantum time travel it wouldn’t matter, the timeline would branch and you could do whatever in that timeline
@funkydovahkiincat81763 жыл бұрын
Yes! Why would Kang make Christine die knowing that this would lead to the end of the universe before he even born?
@sinteleon3 жыл бұрын
You could think of it as a strictly time travel rule outright, rather than a dimensional travel rule. Otherwise each use of the timestone would've made like a bajillion nexus events.

Regarding the "fixed point", I think it has to do more with direct cause and effect than with the will of cosmic forces. This version of Strange can't undo Christine's death because that event served as the impetus for his becoming a sorcerer. For him to undo the reason for his own existence creates a fundamental paradox, since without that tragedy he would never have gained the power to keep it from happening. This is why his timeline breaks, and why the Time Stone was uniquely dangerous, since it allowed for alteration of a single timeline rather than the creation of others.
@kevincmejia3 жыл бұрын
THIS, this is the best explanation to a fixed point

On the other hand, what if he altered the timeline by giving himself a different reason to seek help in the mystic arts? E.g. like how in the main universe it was his hands that needed healing. Here he basically tried to remove the "cause" completely, but what if you trade one cause for another? :D Though that would probably need 2 infinity stones. Time + reality
@sw8743 жыл бұрын
@@EdolasMystogan I feel like this could work if someone else did it, because when he rewinds the timeline he is the only common factor. He himself is not rewound, he still has the time stone, he still is a sorcerer. If he saves Christine but breaks his hands now, it won't change anything really. Because his motivation to look for the mystic arts was Christine's death and not broken hands. On the other hand, if it is someone else doing it, saving Christine wouldn't be a paradox at all.
@sw8743 жыл бұрын
But then that could reduce the importance of an absolute point... Since absolute points wouldn't be the same to everyone that messed with time. Idk
