This has already happened to me , in this case you will have to go to the "MeshCache" modifier, then "Time Remapping" and in the tab "Frame Scale" try to change the values until it fits with your animation, unfortunately I still haven't been able to find a direct solution for this, but when find you can be sure I'll make another video

Great video! My only complaint is that the workflow is too confusing. I suggest exporting the files to blender first and then finalize the textures in substance painter as a last step.

Amazing!. Great Tutorial! Can you explain the scale relation when going from blender to Marvelous to Blender again? I always have problems with the scale and clip view. Or the model is imported super big or super small. Always have trouble finding which scale should I use in every program

This will be a topic for the next video, but I'll let you know that this is a frequent issue not only in Blender for Marvelous, but also Blender for Ue4, I think you have to look if your unit system is in meters inside Blender, and when import to MD, put in meters too

Hey whats the benefit of exporting .obj and point cache instead of an alembic back to blender? Also I am wondering, I am using c4d but when I export an alembic from md, the cloth animation doesn´t fit my character animation in c4d. The timing is completly messed up. It seams using 25 frame or any custom frame rate, doesnt work properly. Do you maybe have a tip for me?

The alembic format as far as I know, doesn't support different materials when exporting from Marvelous Designer, in your case, I'm not sure if c4d has a modifier similar to Blender, in which case you would have to change the settings in "Time Remapping" , synchronizing your simulation with the character animation.

Which MD version you try? Do you know if maybe in past versions maybe it will be some problems importing alembic? Because it says that it can't be imported. I try but without animation, and assemble all in blender, but it looks like a caos when I play the animation. Do you know how can I do it if I have another version of MD? Thank you so much

Maybe you need to tweak some settings when you are exporting from Blender to MD, did you bake the animation? Apply all the transforms? Can be the blender version that you are using, i have some troubles using the 2.8, try to download the newest version (2.9 or above), i this video i was using Marvelous Designer 9

Thanks for this workflow overview. I was looking for this. So in substance painter you have no thickness to the clothes? Only paint frontpart? You give thickness in blender (after importing the final meches and textures) with solidify? I have pochets to my pants that have a little offset (they float) because i have no thickness. Actually, all lose parts float. Do i solve it with solidify? Tnx

in this case you can export your clothes from the MD with thickness directly to Blender, but keep in mind that the same texture that stays on the front of the clothes will be applied on the back, unless you assign a different material to it , or you can use the solidify modifier on the mesh to get thickness.

for your question about the buttons, if your final result is in Blender then i would just add all the buttons to their own material and delete the others, then make their materials procedurally, if you're not worried about baking image maps for other programs in your render pipeline

I saw that you can also use alembic as a format from MD to Blender for animated mesh. One Q, how do yousolve materials for the thin vs. Thick export. I assume that this part of the mesh has no UV assigned to it.

I think the alembic file is more commonly use for baked simulations (fluids, smoke...) or things that dont have a proprery uv's assign to then. Answering your question, the front part of the mesh share the same texture in the back side with the thickness, the uv's also share the same position.

You can increase the "Particle Distance" of your outfit, or increase the "Skin Offset", or increase the density of your mesh, or if your animation has faster movements try increasing the "CG Iteration Count" in the animation tab of MD

Because Marvelous is a specialized software, like Zbrush and Substance Painter, it was created just for clothes and simulation, but you can use the Simply cloth pro addon in Blender without any problem, it's your preference

This depends a lot on the complexity of your garment, and to be honest, i don't know why some simulations are too heavy and some are more lighter, but you can try the "MDD Cache (Standard)" format when you exporting

When you are exporting, go to the "file" tab and check "Save with texture files (ZIP)", also check "Diffuse color combine on texture", try this and see if works
