Highlights of the all time great Middleweight champion.
Marvin Hagler - Is an American former professional boxer who was Undisputed World Middleweight Champion from 1980 to 1987. Hagler made twelve undisputed title defenses and holds the highest KO% of all undisputed middleweight champions at 78%. At six years and seven months, his reign as undisputed middleweight champion is the second longest of the last century, behind only Tony Zale, who reigned during WWII. In 1982, annoyed that network announcers often did not refer to him by his nickname, "Marvelous", Hagler legally changed his name to Marvelous Marvin Hagler.

To the kids of today, boxing in the 1970s and 80s wasn't the manufactured WWE/UFC Hollywood scripts in vogue now. Hagler had to march through fire to get a shot at the title, facing Philly legends and overcoming corrupt officiating until his prowess could not be denied. Rest in Peace brother and champion forever.

I'm not usually emotional when I hear about celebrities and people who I never met passing. Rarely ever. But I cried today when I heard about his passing. He was always my favorite fighter because he embodied every characteristic there was to be a boxer and a fighter and a warrior. Those who understand the sport will understand. He was the embodiment of everything that it meant to be a fighter. his skill, discipline, dedication, power, toughness, relentlessness, etc. he was a fighter's fighter and a warrior's warrior. I cried like a baby today. people like him transcend the sport and show us how powerful someone can become if they are relentless and focused.

I had the pleasure of meeting Marvin Hagler with a good buddy of mine back in 2004, 2005. He was the nicest guy you could ever meet, for a celebrity. At the time he was, I think 53 (?). Let me tell you, this guy was still in awesome shape. We took some pictures, and grabbing his back, his body was hard as a rock. His fist was the size of large sledgehammer and he put it to the side of my head for contrast, his entire fist was about as large as my entire face. Just a down to earth guy, which you would never expect. He even spoke fluent Italian as he said that he was doing Italian action movies. Talked to us alot about boxing and had all sorts of boxing stories. This guy is extremely intelligent, well spoken,....Just doesn't get the credit for being the best middle weight of all time, being a decent human being and never ever getting in trouble like the majority of boxers. They were called Numidians due to the fact they came from the Northern Territory of Africa and central desert Africa. Most of them were blacks and whites, many of them became legionaries or joined ranks in the Roman military. Numidan means Nomad. Actually they had a move that is quite much close to Hagler's gazelle jab, it's called the leaping strike, you hold your short sword and then put your weight on the front foot and shoot a thrust forwards to your oponent after blocking one of his strikes. You can even run towards the target and then leap with your front foot when being at enough close distance, and then you conclude with a thrust of Xiphos. Search what is a xiphos.
