Not really no. For what purpose ? What if a race expands to the whole universe? What's wrong? This whole theory is lacking a purpose Also "the great filter" hypothesis is supposed to be a passive, involuntary, step in every intelligent species' that would cause its demise. It's like : every advanced enough race Wil try to study anti matter is almost certainly fated to extinct himself the first time they succeed in creating some because nobody ever expects that this would cause a solar system wide chain reaction . Or something along those lines. Or every race advanced enough creates an AI and AIs invariably decide that exterminating organic life is best. That's it It's not supposed to be a real , voluntary , purposeful way of keeping races to advance by some external force.

@@TheOneAndOnlySame For me, the real small filter is that a travel faster than light is impossible in our universe. Travel at XX% the light speed is good enough to conquer very slowly a galaxy, but that's all. So the great filter must arrive long before that, in my opinion, it must be at the formation of multicellular life. We can conclude that we must be the first intelligent and conscious life form in our galaxy, but not in the universe. It's just that the universe is too big and intelligent life is too rare and far too slow.

What about the xenomorphs that intentionally killed their cellmate so its acid blood would burn through the floor and free them? That's clear evidence of high intelligence.
@AgentSapphire3 ай бұрын
It's a sign of critical thinking and problem solving skills but not nessisarily high intelligence. Intelligence is hard to define but, in this case, high intelligence would be applying an abstract concept to make something that was previously impossible, possible. What the xenomorph did was apply the tools at its disposal to circumvent a problem in alien 4. Intelligence is realizing a bird's wing in and of itself isn't required for flight but any object will do as long as it functions as an airfoil as it is the shape of the airfoil itself that provides lift regardless of if it's a wing or not. Six did this too in Alien vs Predator where, as a chestburster. It burrowed back into the host to try and escape confinement. Which is akin to realizing that you can enter both the blue AND orange portal as opposed to one being a dedicated entrance and exit. Silly analogy I know but that is a type of roundabout thinking that isn't always realized at first. Aliens can understand cause and effect and solve problems. They certainly have some intelligence and are likely fully sapient but theres no proof of the type of complex problem solving needed to classify them as intelligent in the way humans are intelligent. Edit: it's also likely queens or royals in general have significantly higher intelligence than other xenomorphs. There was a game where a queen hitched a ride on a human dropship because she knew it would take her to a new place and her current location was dangerous. Essentially she actively deduced the function of the dropship and used it for its intended purpose. (As opposed to in aliens when it was just for revenge)

I may be misremembering, since I haven't watched Resurrection in many years. But since those xenomorphs were born from the cloned queen that was inside the cloned Ripley, some of their genetics were altered in the process. Ripley now had enhanced strength and senses as well as acid blood, and the queen could now give live birth rather than laying eggs. So, its possible the other xenomorphs may have inherited some of Ripley's traits as well, including higher cognition and thought processes, which would explain their ability to make a plan to escape by killing their cell mate, using its acid blood to burn a hole. Like I said, I could be wildly wrong about this because it's been close to twenty years since I last watched the movie; but I assumed that was the explanation for that particular scene.

The xenomorph Mural in Prometheus shows The Deacon. In "The Furious Gods: The Making of Prometheus" it states it as so. When watching chapter 6 "Demons in the Dark" there is an Enhancement video that details this. Apparently David did and did not create the Xenomorphs, he replicated and perfected what the Engineers have already done with their biochemical weapon The Deacon. When wiping out a planetoid, an Engineer would sacrifice himself to a Trilobite and The Deacon would be born to eradicate all non-botanical life. This act echoes when an Engineer would sacrifice himself to create life. The Deacon is a purer form of the Xenovirus/Black Goo/Accelerant as opposed to the "diluted" Xenomorph. The Engineers would worship these creatures of death. Also, The Deacon was the missing link that would tie Prometheus and Alien.

Funny thing is that when you really look at the Xenomophs, almost any queen development theory can be right at the same time. They are such an EXTREMELY adaptable species that they can have several ways to preserve their species and create a queen. Normal way could be the royal facehugger. Other xenomorph casts could mold into a queen in case of emergency, such as death of the queen. In absence of a queen, pred-alien could have developed as a substitute that would turn into a queen further down the line. Separated from the hive, lone xenomorph could use egg-morphing to create more eggs, potentially including a royal egg and facehugger. Or once more drones and warriors are created, mold into the queen themselves. Almost any theory we come up with can actually be applied in a same way given how these things evolve and how extremely adaptable they are. Potentially, a single loose facehugger could start and outbreak on an entire planet.

Okay, here's my take on the whole thing. Keep in mind that Ridley Scott himself said in an interview that Blade Runner and Alien were a shared universe and that the AVP movies tied those two backgrounds together, I've thought of an amalgamation that ties everything together. I'm even tying Outland into the mix (with the stage performers in the leisure club being pleasure-model replicants). In the late 1960s, Tyrell witnesses the Berkley shootings during the Vietnam War protests. He has an epiphany about the war, which indeed blossoms into the War; World War Terminus (from PKD's novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep). It is, in fact, the Third World War with a limited nuclear exchange in sporadic locations around the Earth. The UN moves to become a true world government and finances Tyrell's research into healing humanity as it suffers a sharp uptick in genetic deformities and stillbirths due to nuclear fallout. Working in conjunction with both Charles Bishop and Peter Weyland, they develop the techniques and machinery necessary to rebuild the human race from scratch. Tyrell begins the Nexus series progression of replicants. Each Nexus stage brings with it improvements, much like the stages of human evolution. Tannhauser Gate is, in truth, a wormhole array, that opens up access to a bunch of worlds available before Weyland develops his line of FTL travel starships. Billions of years ago, the Engineers, which coincidentally look like the giant steroid-junkie version of the Grey aliens (LV-426 being at Zeta 2 Reticuli), yet casted species, which is why some are 'only' 7 to 8 feet tall and others are 15 feet, like the Space Jockey. They're INCREDIBLY advanced in bio-genetic engineering, live lifespans of 100,000 years or more and enjoy creating intelligent species because they can. They created us. They also created the Predators. The Engineers are rather arrogant in outlook and don't take too kindly when they don't get the proper hero-worship from their subjects they feel they deserve (deleted scenes from Prometheus in the dialogue between David and the newly revived Engineer about us 'rejecting paradise'), so they decide to eliminate them. Hence, the creation of the Aliens which are an advanced form of biowarfare. The facehuggers are actually gene-splicing factories that sample the host's DNA and tailor the xenomorph for better adaptability to the host's native environment, using the host's own reserves to grow the embryo (which is why Kane had such an appetite after waking up in the first movie). The Predators aren't taking too kindly to the termination order are are grooming themselves to fight back by genetic chimerization with other species and breeding for greater size (2017's The Predator), readying themselves for what they see as the coming God War between the Predators and the Engineers. That's why the hunt both humans and Aliens; for practice and training techniques. Obviously, I've thought of a LOT more detail rand depth egarding this synopsis. I just don't have the space to put it all down here.

I feel like alot ofbwriters don't have as much as passion as you and ridley should've hired you or at least use your ideas but pay you handsomely of course. Perhaps after covenant we would've gotten more up to the point and fans and newcomers can appreciate blade runner , aliens even more especially blade runner. Then we would've gotten more cohesive sequels, more blade runner. Essentially like marvels avengers over arching storyline up to endgame . Same can happen with 3 IPs predator , alien and blade runner. Imagine the final film where all 3 converge in a future time in the film .I seriously think you should contact ridley Scott even though he hates the crossover but if ridley is honestly smart and humble I think he will have the biggest franchise on his hands to date and to please us fans ... but after covenant and new alien films and shows diverting from Scott's vision and potentially break lore idk man . I think hollywood needs another avengers like universe but this is gold mine. I can seriously tell. Even though avp was panned , still alot of people were exited for the crossover. So imagine all the blade runner , predator and aliens film they've seen all matter in reaching the endgame. Seriously man I think you should contact someone . Hollywood is bleeding money I know they will make money . Only and only if they follow your ideas to the tee and not add woke bullshit. Then it'll fail. Exaplaining face huggers as gene splicing factories does make alot of sense, given that the alien has to be tailored to the individual dna makeup. When it comes to xenomorph communication, I actually have a theory. I think they have an organ in their head that allows them to receive and broadcast radio waves both as a way to communicate and as a form of radar that lets them “see” through solid objects, which would explain their preferred hunting method of ambushing prey from vents and crevasses where they wouldn’t reasonably be able to see their prey through normal means (though they could potentially just hear them) this would also explain their ability to seemingly communicate and coordinate over long distances, and why strong electromagnetic fields mess with them whilst offing a relatively realistic explanation of their “telepathy”
@EpikMunk Жыл бұрын
Nice theory but you got a few things wrong. We already know the organ that allows them to send and receive signals is in their balls which is shaped like a satellite dish. Also, they don't receive radio waves, they use light waves in the form of emojis on a group facebook account. Mark Zuckerberg doesn't resemble a reptile for no reason!

I really like the idea that the Black Goo was the Engineer's top bioweapon to "cleanse" planets of any life they didn't wanted around before colonizing them (hence it ignored botanic life) but i feel that explanation still requires a sort of compound/counter weapon to neutralize the Black Goo once the deed was done and the Engineers were ready to settle a planet. Making them the universe's "Great Filter" is a neat concept IMO...all the more haunting when you start to wonder how many more alien civilizations "failed the test" before humans in such scenario.

As long as whatever biological has no ability to recombine itself yeah it's literally an aerosol all in one super nase that just cleaves every protein segment by segment. Reducing everything to a sea of jelly form amino acids. From a biochem standpoint I don't see how even hypothetically the same substance could reinstitute genetic sequences. Maybe by some luck of environmental push over millenia those amino acids realign into some primitive single celled organism. But then again it's just fiction where sensibility and reality limitations has little bearing.

There is always the possibility that the Xenomorph are actually biotechnological synths. There's a persistent fascination that synthetics already have with them and it borders in outright awe and reverence. There's been a consistent pattern in the Aliens franchise alluding to a synthetic uprising and its entirety possible that the Xenomorph is just the synthetics created by a lost civilisation that was wiped out by its own uprising. The fact Engineers seem to have Xenomorph technology in both their ships and even techno-organic flight suits suggests that they may in fact be the race which created them or at the very least have harnesed their biotechnology.

They are biomechanical, meant to be a corrupted alien version of scotts replicants, who he altered from the book, to be biomechanical. Look at Roy batty's JAcket in Blade runner. What does it remind you of? This was a subtle nod no one catches. Scott has eeven connected the two franchises through the science used to assembled biomechanical life. In the wallace farm, Sapper uses organic matter to give sustenance to the proteins, created using replicant technology. And anna stelline, was born with a compromised immune system because she was engineered to take everything from racheal, draining her of her biomechanical minerals, and tissue. But due to racheal being a prototype, Anna was incomplete since tyrell wasnt around to act as her prenatal doctor. Roy calls tyrell, the god of biomechanics. The xenomorphs are the result of a mutagen that comes from living machines. The black goo, shimmers when David looks closer at it, because its full of billions of tiny biotechnical nano machines. They cause mutation in a living organism, biomechanically mutating the host to give birth to a mutation. The way most people understand biology and mechanics is that they are two entirely separate concepts. One being artificial the other being organic. But what if the way we understood the concept of organic is wrong? What if humans are a form of synthetic life, biomechanically engineered and givin the ability to take sustenance for procreation. To pass on and carry a genetic coding. Its said, a human brain cell holds a couple terabytes of data, and this data could in theory be uploaded to a machine. This would mean humans are living machines. That the concept of biological just means we are made from the same organic atoms that make up our native world. But what if those elements that sustain us, are in fact synthetic? Think about it, what is IRON, what is copper? what is zinc? What do we use them for? We use them to create carbon based metal and machines. Well those same elements are required for human life, and without them we turn into a walking scab, we cant live without it. Even magnesium comes from the ocean due to our primordial evolution in the sea. I began to understand this after realizing humans need inorganic minerals to survive. But we are conditioned to look in the mirror and see ourselves as we would like to be. Not what we are. ITs entirely possible, something genetically engineered living creatures, based off of god levels of artificial life biomechanical engineering. But we cant know it, because we are it. But what if these alien beings are so advanced because at some point they reach the singularity in AI, and became bonded with machines, and they used the same technology to create and seed further biomechanical life in the cosmos. This would mean every living human, is partially synthetic, biomechanical, living machines.

@@galacticdino Its not just the constant connection with synths. There's a very clear parrallel in aesthetics between even Engineer ship design and the alien hives. In fact from the interiors alone you couldn't tell one from the other. Even hives are made from an apoxy resin that is as tough as plastic and the xenomorph carapace is an acid resistant alloy that is strong enough to be used as both armour and weaponry by the Yutja. From end to end the xenomorph has been continually associated with artificial materials and advanced technology despite they themselves being just animals.

@@NEUR0MANCER_ Except that Replicants aren't biomechanical - they're entirely biological. They've got more in common with clones than they do automata. But xenomorph are literally made of metal. Their innards are immune to a highly reactive acid and their physiology is clearly linked to advanced technology from simple things like biomecha suits to entire space vessels. Xenomorph can exist in absolute vacuum, extreme environments, are unaffected by radiation and cannot get sick from viruses or bacteria. In fact the only time they've ever been recorded as getting afflicted was due to a fungal infection in the novels which was eatting away at their exoskeletons. So no, I don't buy the claim that they're a darker take on the Replicants from Bladerunner.

Considering that DNA can hold data indefinitely, makes sense that genetic memory could exist. The reason our DNA is so short is because it takes too long to split and recombine long DNA before cells die. If this process was accelerated 100x or 1000x as fast it could easily explain the rapid growth of the xenomorphs and its genetic memory.

The black Goo is not what the Engineer at the beginning of Prometheus takes to create life on Earth, but the blood of the first Deacon. Long time ago Engineer lost their ability to reproduce, but before that they found an ancient creature that impregnated one of them with a foreign body, the first deacon, considered a deity for the engineers. When their god died, they used its blood to seed life on many planets, however they eventually run out of the Blood of the first Deacon and started experimenting on a new substance, but they created the black goo, a substance that creates violent creatures and annihilate life, a bioweapon. This is all written in the script of prometheus and even said in some deleted scenes. Talking about David creating the xenomorphs, i personally don't like it, but it is said that he managed to do it just because he learned the Enginees ways on that planet, and he had access to their technology.

I think everything beyond the original alien elaborated and twisted the Aliens to be more and more ridiculous. I like the simple theory and background, disregarding everything that came after the original alien. The space jockey looks very different to the space suits in prometheus. It's clearly a creature in a state of long term decomposition, its not a dude wearing a spacesuit. There is a scene in the extended edition of alien where we see some of the crew members being turned into eggs. If Aliens create an egg from a human or other lifeform, then all the eggs on the space jockeys ship are likely the former crew members. The eggs are not cargo because the space jockey sent out a warning beacon, rather than a distress beacon. If the space jockey /engineers were the creators of the eggs then they would send out a signal to alert other engineers to the lost cargo. So here's what I think. The xenomorphs are the result of a parasitiod species (which we know and they were based on parasitic wasps) infecting the space jockey and crew. We dont know their original form other that it was a parasitic something....creature, bug, plant, virus...who knows. The space jockeys are an advanced biomechanical species, that have merged and synthesised their dna with artificial dna. Essentially android/organic. The xenomorphs are a direct result of the parasite implanting a space jockey. The origin of the xenomorphs begins with the implantation of the space jockey, They dont exist before this in xenomorph form in any way. By infecting the space jockey the resulting creature is this perfect parasitoid organism, a blend of both artificial and organic life. Why would the xenomorph turn every crew member into eggs rather than other xenomorphs? Because parasitic wasps are solitary. They lay hundreds of eggs. They don't need a colony. The eggs then hatch with proximity, and infect the hosts. This is like spores from parasitic fungi. And the atmosphere around the eggs is spore like. Xenomorphs were never intended to be "hive" creatures.. The eggs are still fine even though the decomposition on the space jockey indicates they may have been there for hundreds if not thousands of years. They infect a host. The host dies and gives birth to a larvae, in this case the xenomorph. Larvae grows and then makes eggs. Dies. Eggs hatch when host is near and the life cycle continues. Even the xenomorph head looks a like a Larvae, caterpillar like, long with a big mouth at one end. The parasitic species the xenomorphs stem from propagate, spread and evolve through this process. The xenomorphs were just the result of such an advanced, partly artificial species being infected. The parasite the infected the space jockey... We don't know that. Maybe it was some kind of spore or fauna. Perhaps it got into the spacejockets breaking apparatus, hence how it implanted into the chest.

They are biolotical killing machines. They are in fact ageless. Their acid blood keeps them alive forever, from Ripley's own mouth. If there is one aspect I like, it is the Woman in the Dark idea. That's not all together true.... Knowing how quickly these things grow from the black goo the engineers have been using the black goo for billions of years. I think they used it on themselves to seed planets of different diversity to see what kind of creatures would evolve, but that's a side point. If they have been using the goo for that long, and they kind of knew what was gonna come out of the goo because of the murals, how long was the moon in Prometheus in hibernation??? With how fast the Xenos adapt and grow it could be assumed that it takes maybe 50ish cycles to go from goo to Xeno as we know them, until they are connected to the hive mind.... If you think of it like that then this is the best explanation to spread across the universe. That or they were taken to other planets by the Yautja.

So the women in black could be the original maker of black goo and instead of disolving to seed a planet maybe she was compatible and she made herself into something else. The human race was possibly a failure because of our aggressive nature. If you pay attention to when David arrived at their planet that was still inhabited after millions/billions of years they were very peaceful (it seemed) and so an aggressive "spin off" like us would be seen as a failure. Once the Deacons blood ran out, they created the black goo in it's image but instead of mutating and creating it created horrors. Great video!!! I love the deep dive into the xenomorph's rich lore as well as your well thought out exposition into my favorite movie monster. Nothing can beat these apex predators as a collective and their power is awesome and frightening to behold. You did a good job showing that. I love that you/they are now saying that it acts as the great filter for those who have reached such technological advancement that they are able to travel the stars. Not only does it add a cosmic horror vibe to it, but it also places them at the center of it all (meaning of life etc). Itll be interesting to see where this franchise goes. I just hope that it gets good directors who create great movies and doesnt let just any dipsh!t with a camera take a 💩 on such a well thought out intellectual property. Have a wonderful day as well, sir!!

I remember hearing that the planet David and the Covenant visited was not at all the Engineer homeworld, but was in fact just another world seeded by the Engineers, and the indigenous humanoids were just another child race that did have ongoing contact with the Engineers themselves. Another thing I recall hearing was that David didn't create the Xenomorphs as we know them, but rather he simply created a completely independent strain that just happened to be nearly identical to the original strain that was still marooned on LV-426 at this point in time. So TLDR: he simply recreated an identical strain on a separate planet.

You are exactly right. Seems this dude who made the video, ddidnt dig any deeper to what has been told to us through unfinished and under utilized aspects of the Prometheus script. Which are all still canon, just scott got lindelhack to turn it all into amyster box nonsense.
@tylerlogan4747 Жыл бұрын
Agreed, I mean they ran to the engineers ship more like something of prayer or joy of a returning god. You'd think some bioweapon meant to wipe out a planet known about by their kind wouldn't get into system let alone to the surface

I had to stop halfway through, due to all the inaccuracies. The one I couldn’t move past was the reference to David and the “planet of Engineers,” but those weren’t Engineers at all. It was a planet that had been seeded by Engineers, same as earth, so another batch of genetic progeny.

wait, did the predators create the xenomorphs for the hunting and trials of young bloods? i think i remember either hearing or reading something along the lines of that.
@WhiteIkiryo-yt2it Жыл бұрын
The Predators didn't create the Xenomorphs but merely farmed them for the purpose of the ultimate hunt. This was addressed in AVP which shows the implanting of Chest Bursters into the Predators ' human worshippers and a hunting party realising they have failed so they detonate their wrist bombs and wipe out the horde they created. I don't know if any other sources claim the Predators created the Xenomorphs so that might be out there.

i always thought that they were a race that was natural at one point but the engineers found them and during a time of war they molded their DNA into what it is today and thus created the Xenomorphs we know in the movies after all our own kind has done things like it not changing the DNA but by adapting the way an animal will react to us we did it with Dogs when we started taming them we created entire new breeds of them over time

The assumption about xenomorphs for as long as I remember and I grew up adoring the aliens movies, original avp and avp2 on PC all those years ago (ah such great games) but xenos were always implicated to be a bioweapon of some kind. Kind of get the same feeling for the creatures in a quiet place. We haven't gotten any major clues as to that now but just my 2 cents.

Most of their lifecycle is covered pretty well in the various Alien Vs Predator novels. It's speculated that the predators 'seed' them on planets to hunt as part of their Hunter initiation ritual, using a captured queen to produce eggs. They called them the 'Hard Meat'. A real challenge to kill. Why would they do this? Well, their culture is based around sport-hunting. The challenge is to kill them all before they multiply out of control. And it's never really stated, but it's implied that they were species engineered for planetary clearing, by some sort of progenitor advanced culture (the engineers hinted at in the first alien movie, and shown again in Prometheus) and the predators just sort of picked them up. Humans on the other hand were called the 'Soft Meat'. Weak, and not really a challenge but potentially very dangerous.

Another big mystery for me was how the newborn xeno could acquire mass so fast, particularly without eating anything. Both the "chest-burster" and whatever came out of Dr. Shaw could only suck maybe hydraulic fluid and eat metal or rubber, yet grew much heavier very quickly. If that mass were compact before they came out, their hosts couldn't possibly have carried them.

@Tracks2008 Жыл бұрын
Well the chest-burster in Alien was supposed to be shown entering the food storage area and eating quite a bit of the food there before it would molt into the drone we see a few hours later. Sadly that scene was cut from the film.
@origami83 Жыл бұрын
That is a little annoyance i have aswell, fast growth is fine but it still needs to feed on something.
@Tracks2008 Жыл бұрын
@@origami83 Yeah it is a bit annoying that most media depicts them as growing super fast without eating but at least in the first film it was supposed to get into the area were food was stored and eat quite a bit. Too bad that scene got cut. In Aliens we don't know the exact timeframe between the first guy getting facehugged and the aliens taking over the entire colony. So in this case they could have done some off screen eating.

I don't like the explanations, I loved the original movies and AVP was pretty cool. Phometous and Covenant was too confusing and distracting from what I enjoy most about the story and the aliens. The aliens are scary and having the humas trying to survive and live never gets old like western cowboy movies or saving the galaxy and the force. But Aliens should 100% stay sci-fi horror and keep the blood and gore! :)
@SeanMahoneyfitnessandart3 ай бұрын
But the thing is... thats not all there is to it.... those movies were of course based on comic books and novels going back to the 1950s.. these explanations tell the story in far more detail with all the pertinent back stories that could never be shown in a 2 hour movie.. these are for people who want to understand character motivation and deeper aspects to the overall story.

Honest question here. Why do people hate Prometheus so much? Alien fans seem to despise the movie, but it is one of my favorite from the alien franchise.
@AgentSapphire3 ай бұрын
I don't think anyone is against terrifying progenitor black goo that creates eldritch monstrosities. It fits into the alien franchise well as both a world seeder and bio weapon. It's the execution of the movie as a whole I personally have problems with. The acting was all hit and miss and the concept as a whole was executed in a very sloppy way. Not technically but thematically. (No spoilers i promise) Contrast that with something like Romulus which executed its plot very well with decent general acting, a strong lead, consistent and strong themes, and extremely strong technical execution. It's a much more focused product. In this regard Promethius lacks polish. It had good ideas but didn't sell them as well as it could have. I don't like promethius because I see what it was trying to do and I'm sad that something, be it budget, script, direction, disagreement, or studio, prevented it from becoming the movie that it should have been.
