@9:40 Boring Book??? I thought that was one of the most profoundly emotional scenes, and I never once thought Juliette found it boring! It allowed me to see our world thru the eyes of people who have never experienced it, and made me absolutely stop taking our world, our lives, our freedoms and nature and knowledge for granted, but rather to cherish it and that we must protect our world, and NEVER take it for granted, lest we end up like the Silo characters or worse! Yes, Silo may be fiction, but seeing characters dreaming of a world that is so beautiful and vast and filled with knowledge that some people find “boring” are all things that have profoundly affected me and awoken a new appreciation of our world that despite many problems and issues, is a paradise that we should all work to preserve and continue improving so we never end up like Silo or the various dystopian societies that I never used to think was anything to truly worry about, but the more I see ignorant humans who abhor knowledge, science, and would trade our world for power in a heartbeat, the more I realize what cautionary tales Silo and the book series that inspired it can be!

This is clearly written and voiced all by AI, right? The language is often pedantic and awkward to follow, with repetitive use of keywords within the same sentence and odd intonations. "...there's a clear indication that the makers for this SERIES don't want to hold back on the anticipation for the SERIES." "...at the end of the day we seem to be as oblivious as the inhabitants of the SILO about the story behind the SILO." "Now, we don't have to wait for the ANSWERS, and we can read Hugh Howey's books to get the ANSWERS..." This is all within just the first 40 seconds or so. I'm very interested in learning the lore, but for some reason listening to this I kept getting confused as to which time period the narrator was in and which characters they are talking about. Revolution is an American post-apocalyptic science fiction television series that ran from September 17, 2012, until May 21, 2014, when it was cancelled by NBC.[1][2] The show takes place in the post-apocalyptic near-future of the year 2027, 15 years after the start of a worldwide, permanent electrical-power blackout in 2012. Created by Eric Kripke and produced by J. J. Abrams' Bad Robot for the NBC network, it originally aired on Mondays at 10:00 p.m. ET,[2] and did well enough that NBC ordered a second season shortly after the first-season finale.[3]

The books are much better than the tv series. Certainly some changes can be made to facilitate tv without affecting the gist, and to be fair, it is still more faithful than many modern series based on existing properties. However, beyond S1 E1 & E2, which had minor, yet effective changes, every other aspect of the story and characters changed or added by Apple has made things worse. I'd highly recommend folks start by reading the books so that they can enjoy the story as it unfolds properly and only then try the tv series.

I see people saying this is like fallout. The story of nukes destroying the earth and people living in bunkers is so old even the outer limits made a story about that in black n white. But the fallout story is better because the overall purpose of the vault was studying for humans to survive the trip off the planet. So each vault had a different experiment. The whole story of the humans who left the vaults and explore the messed up world after. Silo is not bad but not as good because yeah nano bots is the killer, so the over purpose of the silos, vaults, it was people lame when you compare the reason why humanity died. But the stories of the characters is what this is all about.

The reset of the silo makes me think of the 7th time the Matrix and Zion were reset. And so did our own history and reset multiple times.

Darn , wish this was on Netflix or prime
@Fourtune1Ай бұрын
No you don’t. Netflix would make it garbage. Also imagine not knowing there’s thousands of websites to watch this show on for free. Are you like 80?

Why ? AppleTV+ is the best streaming service.
@gorymarty56Ай бұрын
@Fourtune1 no need to be rude. I just don't torrent or have anything to do with Apple stuff.

Thank you this explained a lot, but ruined a lot of the surprises (my fault) 🤯

It's an iteration of the Fallout universe in every aspect, just replacing the term "vault" with silo (wool in the books).

What doesn't make sense is why wouldn't they tell everyone the truth about the nanobots it sure looks like they have the means to convince people its true. Like it doesn't make sense eventually people would just tell the truth to everyone I mean their goal is to survive after all. Basically the motivations of Silo 1 are not there, there is no point

Season 1 was solid, Season 2 it’s so boring I just do chores while it’s playing.

for me it was the time, the years that passed and the slow degeneration of the society, where everything was recycled and paper was a valuable resource, home made to keep it going. Things were not questioned and bad guys had to clean the camera lens before they died from being sent outside. The time scale for all of this and then reading further into the books to know the prequill for it was fascinating as well. Read his other books where the world is covered totally by sand hundreds of meters deep and people swim down to skyscrapers to retrieve artifacts, also a good summation of a society broken.

I love the show, but Hugh got a lot of his ideas from Fallout.

10:25 This ain't right, the people in Silo 1 don't know much about the outside, the past or themselves, for what we know Donald, Anna and the Thawman are the only ones who remember.

I gawked at the price on these books: $33.49 for 3 books! Only for the rich!

And this is why I have a kindle with unlimited. With as much as I read, it's paid for itself.
