What do they mean by term sheet? When I hear that I think they've negotiated the terms for a potential deal, but haven't necessarily inked the actual contract yet. It's like when you hear that two parties have negotiated the framework for a deal or that they have an agreement in principle. If that's what this is, that's not legally binding. Additionally, when multiple parties are interested in doing business wirh someone, it's common practice to use their competitors offers as part of the negotiations.

The real reason they sued him is so that he cant negotiate a merch deal with someone else. If Fanatics is claiming his rights no one would willingly produce jerseys out of fear of being sued themselves. I think the long play is that fanatics hopes the NFL/NFLPA will force him to come to terms and get in him line (which is crazy)

MHJ can act differently than other players since he never needed to worry about money. Most college players have an uncertain future with their hopes and dreams of a lucrative career riding on their potential success in the NFL. MHJ knew he would be drafted due to his performance at the college level and didn't need to be concerned about money since his father is a multimillionaire NFL Hall of Famer. There was no reason for MHJ to sign his rights away like other guys who are struggling to make it to the next level because he grew up with money, pedigree, and plenty of talent that others were never guaranteed like MHJ was.

I am for Harrison Jr. Fanatics makes so much money undercutting athletes on their name and likeness rights. This is why they come after them as a sophomore they have shown some promise but aren't superstars yet. Currently signed cards go for 500-1000 dollars for MHJ. If he has signed a deal like fanatics has done to other players, he'd be getting paid maybe 10 to 15 dollars per signature possibly even less ler signature. This is why fanatics is so mad they know they would be making a ton of money while only paying the player pennies in comparison. Hopefully, other players coming into college learn to hold off as long as possible if they can. I know some players aren't in the same position. MHJ is financially and want to help the family as quickly as possible, but maybe this can show them not to sign for so cheap.
@keith2527
@keith2527 2 ай бұрын
Fanatics provides a platform and exposure that many athletes wouldn't get on their own. By signing early, players like MHJ can start building their brand and fan base, which can lead to more lucrative deals down the line. Plus, not every athlete has the luxury to wait for a better deal they need to secure financial stability for themselves and their families as soon as possible. It's a trade-off between immediate income and potential future earnings, and for many, that immediate support is crucial. the $10-15 per signature figure may be a misleading representation of the total compensation athletes receive from Fanatics. The company may offer additional forms of compensation, such as guaranteed minimum payments, royalties, or other incentives, that can increase the athlete's overall earnings. While it's true that the company may be making more money from Harrison Jr.'s signed cards than he is, this is a common dynamic in many industries, where companies invest in and profit from the work and talent of individuals

Upper Deck had to put a mail-in and mail-back "Trade Upper Deck" card in series one, which would be traded for a "NBA Draft Card of the overall #1 pick in the 1992 NBA Draft" ... the Trade Card had a silhouette of a player hanging off a rim with both hands, a ball just below the net after being dunked -- clearly (but not actionable) a Shaq reference. Once Shaq signed his deal, putting him in the PA (who managed the card deals), series 2 had the Shaq card in the Orlando uniform ...

But here’s a bigger question. If the NFL wanted to sell a Marvin Harrison Jr. Jersey there’s nothing he can do about it right? Doesn’t the NFL/Teams technically own the rights to produce a jersey whether a player agrees with it? If you sign a NFL contract there’s some things the NFL is allowed to do with a players NIL, however they are not able to sell those rights to a different company such as fanatics or panini. I’m also sure the Cardinals could also sell a MHJ jersey as they own the logo/number. They player is just renting it.

Even if he didn't sign, but if he spent the money, then it would be implied that he agreed based on his actions.

The 4 yr college contract is smart business by Fanatics. That said I do hope the gamble works out for Harrison Jr.

I feel like Fanatics gets over on a lot of players and by the time the players realize whats going on they dont really care because they have that nfl contract. Fortunately Harrison potentially seen this coming.

If Jr never signed a contract with fanatics then i don't think there is a case. Also you can't sue someone for linking to a publicly available video with their twitter account.

He needs better people advising him, if we're being honest here. The agreement he did (or didn't) sign is just an autograph contract for trading cards, jerseys, and memorabilia. People are getting it confused because they see "jerseys" and automatically think that means the fan jerseys people buy to wear, but that's not the case. That's strictly autographed jerseys. The NFLPA deal is something completely different. That's where the NFL fan jerseys, video games, and other likeness rights come into play. This contract is NOT negotiable at all and there is no world where they pay a rookie WR that hasn't taken a single NFL snap more than guys like Mahomes and Lamar. He's either going to sign this deal or he's going to piss off fans and miss out on this money. I have clue if he signed the autograph contract or not (I'm guessing he did since Fanatics seems to have proof of that), but whether he did or not has absolutely nothing to do with his NFLPA likeness rights deal, so he's screwing himself and the fans over a lot more than anyone else.

I am on the side of Harrison Jr because Fanatics has NO legal case to sue him what so ever because of no contract being signed.

Here, let me save you 13:20 of your time. This is a contract case - period! Show us who signed what and let's go from there. I sounds to me like Fanatics got finessed and had a deal with the father and not the son. Case closed!

See, I’m a jerk. I’d just order a custom Cardinals jersey with my last name as Harrison Jr. Problem solved 😂 Then, he’ll actually LOSE money since he only get cuts when someone buys “his” jersey, but instead, I still get “his” jersey, all while not supporting him 😂

Work for a sports store that deals primarily with Fanatics, I fully stand with MHJ. Fanatics is an AWFUL company trying to monopolize American sports along with Nike, who owns Fanatics lmao. Someone needed to stick it to em.
