Thanks! That’s good to know because I have been trying eat more ramen and other Asian foods and every time I buy ramen from the Asian store it’s hot and I don’t like overly hot food and sometime I get lucky and can omit the spice but sometimes it’s all mixed together so I know now to make sure I’m buying Japanese noodles and not Chinese or Korean.

I see what went wrong. The center of the lid has a plastic knockout about 1/4" wide. Watching another video with a similar hot pot, that knockout wasn't there, so the steam escaped through that hole and thus the lid didn't bulge from the pressure build up. On your Hot Pot, that knockout was still in place. As I said below, I am surprised it didn't go BOOM! So that is something to keep in mind if you or anyone reading this gets one of these Hot Pots. Make sure you pop out that knockout in the middle before putting the lid on.

That was one of the best videos Mav has done. When that hot pot began to expand it was a combination horror comedy show. I laughed out loud. Also, Mav was like, "I'll just put a few fingers in front of my face and when the boiling hot pot explodes, I will okay." Fortunately everything turned out okay. Hats off to the Hot Pot. Hey Mav. The reason for the handle falling off of your pan is the metal slider in the handle itself. When you clip the handle onto the pan you have to slide that tab all the way towards the pan to prevent the handle from collapsing. And when you want to store the handle again you slide that tab back to be able to unclip the handle.

MAV, the priceless moments was "Your Hot Pot crackling swelling moments ". Expected the hot pot to explode, any minute. Many years ago, I had experience a Milwaukee Asian restaurant " Chinese Hot Spicy Dish" being served 2 tables behind me. Served with lid on it, once removed, the spice took the whole oxygen out of the room, literally. Most of us had to leave the restaurant, to be able to breath (we took our meals to tables outside).. We all waited, until the customer left and the restaurant owner gave us OK to return inside. Fans were turned on, and I had smelled scent of matches were burnt. Apologies given by owner, we all received free dessert. It was explained that dish was extra spicy from a particular remote area. The customer had lived in that area, and loved the dish. I am surprised you could stay inside the truck while eating. You are brave with your curiosity, I give you that!!!!

Hey Mav! Love the Japanese stuff lately. Lived in Shiga Prefecture for a year and miss all the crazy stuff. Just wanted to help you out with that water-spilling saucepan. The little bar on the handle is a slider. If you push that little bar all the way up to the pot (base of the handle) it will prevent the handle from squeezing closed and collapsing :) Keep on Truckin!

Chinese American here. Hotpot is from China. There's quite a few Hotpot restaurants in metropolitan American cities and I highly recommend trying it before eating the instant hotpot version (the difference is as wide as the difference between real ramen and convenience store instant ramen). I went to Paris last year and Hotpot restaurants were everywhere as well. Don't worry, not all of the soups are spicy! If you go to an Asian supermarket like H Mart you'll probably find even more types of Chinese Instant Hotpot meals and Instant Rice with Meat meals using the same calcium oxide heating pad.

The red fox was looking for an easy meal. He had probably become accustomed to humans by visiting the cabins along the north shore and getting free handouts. I had a red fox at my cabin in Ontario that had lost his fear of humans. Every night at <a href="#" class="seekto" data-time="480">8:00</a>pm he would be sitting in my yard, looking for a free meal. He walked right up to me while I was cleaning some grouse outside!
