Just a tip my friend, but never camp on a riverbed or near one. It can rain 100 miles away and come flooding you in seconds and you would never know. Awesome vid and keep up the good work
@JimYeats
@JimYeats 3 жыл бұрын
There are something like 13 river companies that take thousands upon thousands of people down the Colorado river in the Grand Canyon every year and they camp on the beach every night. You certainly wouldn’t want to sleep in a slot canyon or a wash susceptible to flash flooding, but with some normal common sense, checking the weather, and knowing what season you’re in, its as safe anything that’s fun to do.
@blissmadness9264
@blissmadness9264 3 жыл бұрын
@@JimYeats I understand your perspective, but even if the weather seems nice to you in that area it does not mean it is in all the areas that connect to that river. Colorado River feeds from a very wide range and any of those areas can level out at any moment. It's common sense to never camp near a river or rover basin for this fact. I'm not sure what touring company you are speaking of because I am an AZ native and have been on that very river and the camps are never alongside the river. They are a good 50 feet away. I simply wanted him to be cautious and take this into hand any time he is near a river. Even if the current one he was at had a smaller statistic of flooding he should not get comfortable and do it with other rivers

The worst part about rattlesnakes is if the weather is nice, theyre out. Oh and they will chase you and swim fast af. And almost every single time ive seen one, theres been a grown man trying to mess with it. So glad Mav made it through that nap and will be wearing boots next time!!! I was sweating bullets! @jayce_venom

Hi, I work with, breed and keep Rattlesnakes. I've worked with thousands of them. Snakes, especially rattlesnakes don't "chase" anyone, They're defensive animals about their territory and where they live and breed. Specifically the ones seen here are Speckled Rattlesnakes that retain fairly calm demeanors when left alone. You can be born somewhere all you want but that doesn't mean you're knowledgeable about the animals. They do strike when startled, just as any human can punch or even shoot someone when startled. They have a right to defend themselves and their homes. Quit fear mongering about animals that have a right to exist and be where they are naturally from.

Yep, he's safe on his moat, until one of those slitherins decides to swim it and visit lol. I knew the diver who recovered her body and learned that day that rattlesnakes do in fact swim quite well.

@Brandy Sutherland correction....I was told about it by him in 2000, I had just moved there so I'm not sure when the actual incident happened but it was at Boysen reservoir. They told me about it while we were out there water-skiing ourselves. He made good money for that dive!
@Camoboy70
@Camoboy70 3 жыл бұрын
@Brandy Sutherland no problem, yeah I didn't find it online either but was told how much he was paid and that just led into other conversation. The story creeped me out, I mean imagine you're water-skiing and bam, out of nowhere not only did you hit something to take you down but then you're immediately attacked by it as well. That weighed heavily on my mind while I was at that very reservoir skiing and knee boarding! And these weren't the kinds of guys to tell stories to rattle your cage, they were paramedics and firefighters and life flight pilots who were talking mostly amongst themselves and I was connected by being the boyfriend of one. Dinner conversations were pretty interesting, to say the least.

How's your spare tire situation Mav, if you are going deep into some of these trails alone, makes sure you have a full size spare (that matches your Raptor wheels/tires). If you can't carry a 2nd spare somewhere, make sure to have a tire repair kit and inflation system. A lot of tow companies won't go into a dirt road for recovery, the off-road tow companies are rare and expensive.

I admire your free and adventurous spirit in amounts you just don't understand. When I was a kid, I'm 47 now. I used to love to go camping in the woods by myself. But in my early 20s came wife and kids and the weight of all the financial obligations that comes with that. I wouldn't trade anything from my wife and kids. They are my everything, but I'm very jealous of your carefree lifestyle. In my days past, people just didn't do what you do. We all gave into the lie of life that was before us. Watching your videos, opens a door to days long past. Thank you so much for opening up your freedom of life for all to see. Be safe and careful on your adventures my friend. Lot of nuts out there with bad intentions for wonderful young people like yourself. You have gained a sub and a fan for sure.

It's worth whatever it costs to not get Giardia infection or worse in nature alone. Even a life straw is like 20-25 bucks, now they sell a bag and hose that make the lifestraw a decent camp setup. Always have a water filtration system and purification tablets as a back up. Always have a back up. When enjoying the outdoors luck favors the prepared, things break or get lost, 3 is 2, 2 is 1 and 1 is none.
