I love the litho trains, and have a thing for old tin toys and wind up's, I just got myself a marx wind up set, (mixed) and love it! I'm now working on my first layout! It wouldn't surprise me if I got into the electrics as well at some point. Best of luck, and thanks for sharing!

I had no idea Marx did Seaboard, Rock Island and Kansas City Southern diesels. I just picked up a New York Central that needs a good cleaning, one of my projects.

Did you get the E7 ? I haven’t managed to land one of those yet!
@johnknippenberg-LandmarkYards Жыл бұрын
@@OldFrailandDecrepit Yes, it is a powered E7, so I need to figure out if I'm going to pick up a dummy or do a coupler swap somehow. Not sure I want to run it with a coal tender. 🤭

Does it have the tab and slot coupler? Depends on what you’re pulling, it should work, part of the magic of Marx.
@johnknippenberg-LandmarkYards Жыл бұрын
@@OldFrailandDecrepit Yes, the traditional tab and slot one piece coupler. Really enjoyed watching your diesels run.

Marx definitely made some great trains

Simplicity of design, using the same basic motors for the duration of production. And they still run!

My fave is Monon 81!

like the humor. And I think you need some to run the old M100005 my dad gave us. Shake rattle & roll
@OldFrailandDecrepit Жыл бұрын
My M10005 is the only train that has landed completely on its top after a derailment! I’ve traded out the micro motor for a full sized single reduction, the extra weight helps a lot.

They're definitely colorfully designed especially the tin lithograph work! Wow! I was not aware of this? But now I'm fascinated by this fact! Unfortunately Marx has always had a bad wrap, when it comes to trains? It probably has something to do with the propaganda that was always spread around the hobby shops from the Lionel crowds!? Really Marx Trains are not truly horrible! And as a Lionel collector myself here, I have to admit that I cherish my Marx Locomotives and yes they're always ready to run whenever I feel like it, without any arguments like you've stated here! I'm pretty partial to the older Locomotives and have the 666 as a good heavy puller and a 333 that is probably the biggest Locomotive Marx produced I'm guessing here? It seems that their numbering system is @ss backwards or something? They have 999 which seems smaller than the 666 but the 333 seems larger than the 666??? SMH Lol?! But now I have to find out some more information about these Marx diesel electrics!?!? Really thanks for making this video. 👍👍

Glad you liked the video. I personally like the looks of the 999 best of the three. As for the diesels, the best pullers are the E7 plastic bodied.
