Looking back at this clip, I understand what Max had been feeling at the point. I thought he was overreacting but he was feeling uncomfortable or embarrassed that Mary used him (but in best terms) for a book. And the simple things like cigarette butts being discarded annoys him so much, I can related only with different things.

It's not just that, she also said she wanted to find the "cure" for Asperger's syndrome and called it a disability. Remember in the beginning he said he didn't want to be cured and didn't think of it as a disability? I believe that also sent him on edge.

Should be noted that Max has forgotten to put in his ear and nose plugs. Which probably did not help his mood as he admitted during the beginning of the movie to finding strong smells and loud noises easily agitates him. And considering he lives in New York one of the noisiest and polluted places on earth. Yeah that definitely didn't help his emotional stability at all.

@@RyanZacharko I'm afraid what you just said is a sign of ignorance my friend. People with disabilities have it rough on many levels. For Max the movie makes it clear that new things or changes can leave him in a state of extreme panic that can last for hours. It's one thing to live in a city for most of his life to stick with a place that while has its challenges. Is consistent and a place he knows which gives him comfort. It's another to leave that state of consistency and comfort and live in a different part of the world that is full of unknowns and uncertainty. His Abergers quite clearly makes the idea of moving out of his apartment and out of his home city. Probably one of the most monumental and terrifying thoughts. Sure, he can over time adjust to the new and he can mentally prepare for things such as winning the lottery. But for Max the idea of leaving New York never crossed his mind because it would've been a change to big for him to handle.

This scene almost make me cry in a matter of seconds. How Humans are usually violent to each other and resolving problems by murdering others. It is in our nature, but as Humans, we feel emotions and think the consequences. For a simple word of "Forgiveness" might change the mind emotionally.
