I finally figured out what makes these interviews so enjoyable. Dom and Connor are actors, so they really bring out the back story about their guests' journey in becoming an actor and then a member of the Trek family. They appreciate how difficult it is to get jobs and make your way through the business. For me, it is way better than watching an interview by a TV journalist or reporter.

What an excellent episode. Absolutely fascinating and I loved how they just let Mary talk with the occasional question or interjection. I could have listened to her talk for another hour or so. Knocked it out of the park with this one.

as someone living in a small town who feels they have to SEVERELY hide their full self when going into public, it was really special to hear that story being talked about. On days when I feel more confident I push the boundaries of how I express myself in the hope that the next person can push a little further and then the next, and ultimately reshape how my home (that I love so much) looks at gender and all the ways it is experienced, rather than feeling I need to leave and find acceptance elsewhere

Also just going a bit over an hour is the perfect length for these interviews. It depends on the type of channel they specified when creating it. If they marked it for everyone (including kids), there are rules where they can't have foul words (unbleeped anyway) and there are other content related restrictions. All enforced by KZbin and the reporting mechanism (yes, there are people out there who report it if it is out of compliance).

I wonder if this is starting an interviewee trend of 6' tall ladies. Terry before, now Mary, will Suzy Plakson be next (she was on Enterprise, Voyager, and TNG)? Or perhaps this is merely by chance as a result of recruiting from Trek cruises and maybe we'll get Sonequa next? Any way, excited to see the next brilliant interview. You guys really have a knack for bringing out interesting content, topics the actor is excited about, and making the interviewee look even more likeable.

Mary is a pleasure to listen to. Any parent would be proud to have her as their kid. If she does come back to Trek, she shouldn't have to be stuffed in that Disco Klingon foam makeup and empty doll eye contacts. She should come back human with her personality.

Character-wise, I preferred L'Rell of Season 1 vs Season 2. Not because of anything Mary did, but story-wise, they did more justice to her in season 1 than in season 2. I got the sense the writers were struggling to help her find her place in the second season. Her command and mastery of Klingon is absolutely impressive as is her process for integration of the dialog into her performance. Stellar work.
