Fuck all those other replies. It is not because she didn't write it. Many great songs are written by unknowns - until a known singer makes it a hit. It just wasn't radio appropriate at the time mary put it out - but it served her album and her trajectory well. She does an awesome version of it, the closest to the Queen of soul.
