Mary Skelter 2, at least on the Switch, includes the first game as free DLC. Once the DLC is installed, you just need to press the left or right shoulder button on the title screen to bring up the first game.

Sorry I love this game so maybe I’m biased, but I also really hate your review for this one. Dude said he wasn’t invested in the narrative and skipped it? Imagine reviewing Smash and saying “I wasn’t interested in the fighting mechanics, so I skipped it and focused on the story… which was bare bones. 2/10.”

@@loldoctor Also loved Labyrinth of refrain. Umm the etrian odyssey games are really good and if you're ok with the games being perverted the moero chronicle games are decent. I've heard good things about savior of saphire wins/ stranger of sword city but have yet to try them myself.

It's disappointing that the character events weren't voiced in Finale, as they were in past games - but, I guess that's understandable, because it'd cost a lot to have ALL the VA's (With the inclusion of "Rachel", Pyre, Mary, Charlotte, Clara and Toh) have their lines voiced

Thanks as always for a great review! I've never heard of the series until now. It doesn't sound terrible, but it's probably not something I'll pick up. The dungeon movement reminds me a bit of Etrian Odyssey on the 3DS, and the characters, anime influences and menu aesthetics remind me a bit of Persona.

Etrian odyssey is the closest thing to mary, having played the two series. These nightmares are basically the only thing similar to a FOE in any dungeon crawler. But, yeah, way more dialogue, most of them not act in english but act in japanese audio. Idea factory being quite niche outside of japan, it makes sense that they dont pay english actors for all the lines.

I haven’t played one since Lost Heroes 2 on the 3DS(which is an amazing game). Mary Skelter seems like the only 1st person RPG series left with actual characters and a story so I just bought Mary Skelter 2(which comes with Mary Skelter 1 just like my limited edition of Lost Heroes 2 came with Lost Heroes 1).

Honestly, I'll probably check this game out. Many games like this don't really come to the Australian reigion for obvious reasons. But that wont stop me with making another region account 😏

I really enjoyed 1 and 2, and having the full set on the switch is really nice now. I do enjoy the darker fairy tale characters in games and stories like this. Always a nice change from the normal happily ever after.

I managed to find a physical copy of the first Mary Skelter for Vita. So now I own the entire physical trilogy .

the 2nd one has the first include with a new epilogue, the second game, when you finish it, will unlock the first. Also, if you already have played the first, the first in the second game has a time skip toward end game at least.

I didn't mind MS2, but the equipment farming system put me off in the long run and I never finished it. The gameplay seems like more of the same, so I probably won't bother with this one unless there's a big sale.

The second one is a great game although it's wasn't exactly easy on newcomers story wise, I had to start it 3 times to get it. But get it I did and it had a decent dungeon crawler underneath. Unsure on the 3rd still but I think the dungeon itself looks way better. Glad yo see dungeon master / eye of the beholder games still exist and its still a thing. Great review.

Wait hold on, you gave the gameplay a 14-20 literally because of what type of game it is? I’m confused. It should have got a higher score than that solely because of not being a boring turn based game. That’s like giving Dragon Quest games a low score. Just never mind, I’m leaving. Just personal preference mate - it's incredibly grindy and the pacing is off a touch. As I said, fans will know what they're getting and probably love it. Mark

I liked this series when it was known as persona q. Seriously though I didn’t mind the previous games but I got about 80% thru each and thought I’ve seen enough, I’ve had enough fun. I might just be getting older cause I struggled a little finishing y’s 9.

This style is much older than Persona Q for sure, but they were good games. Love the Etrian Odyssey series as well.

not my cup of tea, but etrian oddisey fans will love to have an anime first person dungeon crawler; the only other FPS turn based RPG i can think of in the system i Shin Megami Tensei III, but to unlock the first person u need a new game+ and the game doesnt tell you you now have that option; is my favorite way to play it tho, the rest of the community hate it haha
