An excellent reaction. Carrey was actually in the last Dirty Harry film, The Dead Pool (1988). He played a high concept metal rocker. For a shot time. 😏 When he said he wasn't ready for a relationship, that was a crack on Einhorn, not all women. 😏 Einhorn, by the way, can be translated as "one horn," so there was another clue.

When I was a kid my family lived in Homestead, FL which is part of Miami-Dade County so the Dolphins where my football team growing up, they also at the time shared the stadium (then known as Joe Robbie Stadium) with the then Florida Marlins (now Miami Marlins), my dad and brother went to the Superbowl the year it was hosted there and me and my dad went to a Marlins game at that stadium (I have a souvenir baseball from that trip) so i've been to that stadium. Also as a kid the school I was in took us on a field trip to a renaissance fair, the fair was held on the grounds of that building where the party is (the "do not go in their" party) so i've actually stood on those same steps they are walking up from the car (fun fact thats actually the rear of the property). My oldest sister also worked with autistic kids for some big organization and they had organized some kind of group outing or something one time that Dan Marino was involved in (he has an autistic kid if you didn't know) so my sister got to spend a day hanging out with Dan Marino, keeping in mind he was our quarterback growing up. So I have some connection to this film.

The Mask is another film with jim. He also provided a voice for an animated short about the itsy bitsy spider. This short appeared before the film Bebe's Kids.

"This house is clean" was a Poltergeist reference that went over Mary's head. She should definitely watch that classic.

I'm sure plenty of people are going to point out that is break out appearance happened on a Sketch comedy's TV show" In livin' Color". But not everybody cares to remember that his breakout character on that show was "Fire Marshall Bill".

6:25 yup, pagers still exist. Doctors still use them in the hospital setting. most of the nurses I worked with during clinicals and precepting had a hospital phone that they carried with them, but have seen doctors still using pagers.

Loved your reaction! Jim Carrey was one of a few breakout stars on a comedy TV show, In Living Color, before this film. He was also in a few movies before this one, but this was the first time he was allowed to go full Jim Carrey in a film. He got paid very little, and the movie script didn't have all those funny moments in it at first. But, they allowed him to improvise, which is why it turned into a HUGE success. With the success of this movie, Jim Carrey became a big movie star and was even paid millions for a sequel. Ace Ventura allowed him to make every other movie of his you've seen.

Ace was his first big breakthrough comedy. He did star in a vampire comedy called "Once Bitten." Not a big smash like Ace was. His big break, however was famously when Clint Eastwood cast him in Dirty Harry movie The Dead Pool. Small role, but he gave it his all.

Pagers do still exist because they are so reliable for emergency personnel who need to be on call, like doctors and firefighters, etc. It's because of the tech, the frequencies they use can penetrate buildings quite well, so being in a structure like a parking garage or a basement or such, the signal can still get through.
