The big thing to realize when Tony asks Bucky if he even remembers killing his parents and he responds with “I remember all of them.” is that he isn’t that he’s saying it to be a dick to Tony. He was trying to let Tony know that it haunts him. They all haunt him because of what happened. It’s his form of PTSD. He got his memory back...all of it...and he is having a hard time living with himself over what he did, even though he couldn’t control it or stop it until Steve broke through.

That's true but it's easy to say when we are not the victim and can look at it with a detached perspective. In the heat of the moment, most of us with an Iron man suit would've react the same way as Tony if we suddenly realized our parents had been killed and the murderer was just standing next to us. Then maybe after we regain composure and get over the shock we would've admit that Bucky was as victim as well.
@jasontodd3338
@jasontodd3338 3 жыл бұрын
That whole "I remember all of them" line is actually important because it tells us even though Bucky was being mind-controlled, he was still conscious of what was happening, kinda like a first-person horror film where you're the monster and there was nothing you could've done to stop it, so of course he feels horrible and guilty but he's also not going to let Tony kill him, because if you notice Tony wasn't just trying to capture Bucky, he was going for killing strikes.

@@bryanalexander7571 I thought it was the following comments from Tony that made it impossible for Cap to be friends with him: -"This is the guy my dad wouldn't shut up about?" -"The only thing special about you came from a bottle." -"Let's just say I don't trust anyone who doesn't have a dark side." -"God, I hated you" AND "Sometimes, I want to punch out your perfect teeth." Tony willingly violated the Sokovia Accords later in the movie, so he didn't really believe in them, either (he sided with them out of pure guilt and emotion), and Natasha was always on Steve's side, whether she felt a bit conflicted or not. Based on what she said near the end of the previous Captain America movie, however, I think she was always on Steve's side, and pretended to be on Tony's side because it was a practical move, and she's a spy. Ultimately she joined Steve's separate team, and notice also that T'Challa (Black Panther) was allied with Steve at the end.

Winter Soldier's situation in this film is pretty messed up, however, you shouldnt be disappointed in Bucky, you should be mad at who did it to him in the first place: HYDRA. HYDRA was responsible for the death of Tony's parents more than Bucky since they were the ones behind the order to put the hit out. And of course, Zemo, for destroying the entier dynamic of the Avengers. Im always on Cap's side. And now that he has an ally in T'Challa....well that jsut cements it. We miss you, Chad. Bucky says that he remembers all of his kills because he was essentially a prisoner inside of his own mind and body. He knows he killed all of those people but because of his conditioning he couldn’t do anything about it. Bucky is just as much of a victim as the people he killed. Imagine going from fighting for a cause during WWII to being forced to assassinate a massive number of people, most of them likely innocent and easily numbering well within the hundreds, and not even being able to say anything about it let alone physically stop yourself from doing it. I would even say that Bucky probably remembers there names. It’s sad because even with all of that in mind, I can’t really blame Tony for trying to kill Bucky.

The marketing for this movie played up the whole "whose side are you on, Team Cap or Team Tony?" angle. I went into it not choosing either. I loved both characters and felt no inclination to pick one over the other. Coming out of it I think it was something that should have been conflicting for pretty much anyone. Neither was wholly in the right or the wrong. For both you could not only see but agree to at least some extent to where they were coming from. I’m still team Tony, but Cap had some reasons to not trust government bodies(hydra infiltrating shield). I think the only place Cap went wrong was how he handled things with Bucky and holding things back from Tony. Tony had every reason to want to have oversight and feel guilty over all the destruction from all of the events, who up until this point, no one in the Avengers seemed to even care about, but he should’ve thought back to his moment in Iron Man 2 when the US wanted his suit and he denied. They both should’ve went about it differently, but it doesn’t help that Zemo was also at play. It wasn’t really entirely their fault.

Then Steve kisses her niece. Yeah, that seems a little weird to me." Was what she posted at the time. In many of the comics storylines, Captain America does get together with Peggy's niece as a way of moving on from the fact that he couldn't be with Peggy. But for people who werent fans of the comics or who didn't know who Peggy's Niece was, the kiss was slightly awkward. So there was some controvery and debates when this movie was released. to clarify in the last fight sequence, bucky and steve weren’t trying to kill tony, they were trying to disable tony’s suit so that the fight could end. tony was legitimately trying to kill bucky, which steve wouldn’t allow. also, when bucky said he remembers all his kills, it’s not in an evil way. because he was brainwashed, he remembers everything he did, he just didn’t have any control over it. all he knew were orders and he knew that if he didn’t follow them, he’d be punished. during his time on the run, in bucharest, we saw him buying plums, which are helpful in restoring and retaining memory, so it’s presumed that he remembers the basics of his time with hydra. obviously, what bucky did was bad, but it wasn’t him actually doing it so i don’t like that tony’s immediate reaction was to kill him. i think tony needs to control his emotions a little bit better. also, kinda surprised you’re on tony’s side. maybe it’s because i’m a steve fan one hundred percent, but it’s fine. good commentary :)

Missed the lives but this definitely was one of the top movies if nothing for character interactions. I’m very conflicted’ Civil War in a nutshell. and the Avengers have to question do they really do more harm than good all the collateral damage caused by their battles have long lasting consequences for them as individuals and as a team and it all came to a head in this movie. Aside from the conflict between Steve and Tony the movie had a few lighthearted moments Clint continuing to be a dad to Wanda is just absolutely sweet. While Tony wanted to do good I think part of his reasons of the accords is just him trying to seek absolution from Ultron maybe he does want to do good but part of it is driven by selfishness he turned on his friends just to feel good about himself and he was willing to get along with Steve until it was revealed Bucky murdered his parents then the damage was done.

"The Avengers have to question do they really do more harm than good"... and that in a nutshell was the base concept I found stupid. Save the entire planet... but some people die. The math is quite easy. Did the Avengers kill those people, or is it the fault of the actual attackers? I think all but the dumbest of people would put the blame where it belongs. The Avengers don't just show up looking to shred cities and kill people. They show up when others are actively doing just that.

A line I wish someone had dropped in that conversation when Ross dissed them for not being able to produce Thor and Banner on demand: ROSS: "Tell me Captain, do you know where Thor and Banner are right now? If I misplaced a couple of 30 megaton nukes, you can bet there'd be consequences." WILSON: "Cap's too nice to point out two glaring problems with what you just said. Thor is a foreign head of state and is a GOD who *donates* his time to the Avengers, and if you think that *any* of us would just *tell* you, of all people, where Banner is after you spent years chasing him *literally* across the globe, you didn't have a heart attack on that golf course; you had a STROKE."

If this were real life then the U.S. government would've easily given him the Bin Laden treatment if they'd found him in the meantime. Have you watched Winter Soldier? That's the whole point why he's been in hiding in the first place. Also, to this day no one seems to give a shit that his mental trigger still exists and that he can still be turned into a walking killing machine through a few Russian words.

Seeing this in theaters was amazing. Three parts stand out. 1. When Steve get's the text message telling him Peggy has died there was an audible gasp of sadness from the audience. 2. When Captain America grabs the helicopter and does his flexing thing ALL the women in the theater started wooing and whistling and clapping. 3. When Ant-Man turned into Giant-Man the place erupted with cheers. At the showing I saw probably I was the loudest as just before he did it I was freaking out in my chair saying over and over "Giant-Man! Giant-Man! PLEASE TURN INTO GIANT-MAN!" Goddamn was I happy when that happened.

I agree with Steve. Tony's position is mainly emotional. Steve looks at the bigger picture. Yes, as a result of them saving the world, there were civilian casualties. It's unfortunate, but you cannot fight without casualties. These aren't simple burglars they are fighting. All the Accords would do is shift the blame so if that happens, the world can just point a finger at the UN. Steve owns the responsibility. He wants to do what is best, what is right. He always has. He's refuses to hide behind a document that says it's not his fault. It is.

I couldn't agree more. You pretty much took the words right out of my mouth. There will always be casualties no matter what. But if the Avengers didn't do what they do, the casualties would only be far greater. I don't like the idea of super heroes falling under government jurisdiction. Once the government owns you, you are a slave to society that is no longer free and just a servant to a blood sucking bureacracy that can misuse you in the future. The general is in way over his head and to me hero ethics should belong to the heroes alone. I'm team Cap for life!!!

@@DaDunge No, because under the accords, the UN would be held accountable. The Avengers would be broken up by singing because they would then just be soldiers for the UN. Only fight when told, only saved who they are told to save. That's not the Avengers. Therefore they are broken up by signing. They've surrendered their right to choose. It's no longer up to them. Having someone tell you to do something you know is wrong is worse than doing something wrong and owning the responsibility of your own choices.
