Great video Mary!! My motto for this year is "don't buy more in 2024" so I'm really trying to use all the supplies I have rather than buy more. So this video was perfect to remind me how many ways to use the crafty goodies I already have. You always inspire me and I love your videos and classes!!!😊

I'm using a bad cricut mat that i cut to 6×6 to use to hold cards so i can make them. I'm making stencils and dies out of the Dollar Tree cutting mats and coloring the designs with eye shadow and spraying Aqua Net hair spray to stop from rubbing off, when necessary. I agree, time to use what i have! Thanks for the video, Mary!

Awesome techniques, Mary! My word of warning about watercolor & emboss resist. Last year, I made 4 versions of a holiday card design. Basically all the same design, but with a couple of different greetings. I used white embossing powder on watercolor paper for emboss resist on the greetings, then watercolored over it with watercolor paints. (This was all inspired by a live that Kristina Werner had done using that technique that week. As I recall, hers worked as intended.) Now, I don't know if the type of watercolor or staining quality of any given color makes a difference, but my white embossing turned kind of a pale bluey-green - basically a lighter version of the paint colors I'd used. I tried carefully & gently going over the embossing with a damp Q-tip, but it didn't clean it up. I was running out of time for holiday card making - this was in December - and I now had multiple panels that were "ruined." I even tried doing the iron-off embossing technique, to see if it would remove the stained heat embossing & leave the white paper underneath showing white. That just seemed to kind of melt some of the embossing into the watercolor paper - rather than the copy paper I had over it - & slightly blurred the greetings. But by then I figured I was in it to win it, so I ended up getting out my white gel pen & doing damage control with that. They weren't great in the end, but as Gina K's husband says, they were better than horrible & I just went with them. I don't know if the recipients even noticed the mess that I saw, but lesson learned. When doing emboss resist with never-before-used-by-me supplies, do a small test FIRST, before making a massive commitment & ending up with disastrous results on your finished project/element. I actually would have been better off heat embossing the greeting AFTER painting the panels. But with inks - either blending or doing "watercoloring" with them - it probably would be fine. Other than that, I have nothing but good things to say/think about what you demonstrated! :) Anyway, thank you for sharing. I forget if I ever thanked you for the lovely card you sent me in reply to the Christmas card I sent you, but I do really appreciate it! I usually have a cat sharing my lap with my computer, which makes typing comments on videos hard. Hence my uncertainty if I was able to type a thank you comment on one of your videos before now. He is not here today, though, so you get rambling me. LOL Take care, & I hope you have a fantabulous day! :)

Oh Mary, Mary, Mary… I need to do this in so many areas. I purchase the parts I need, or purchase and gather all the parts I need to make something. But before I can get a project completed something will happen that keeps the from finishing the project I will have a million and one things come up and I end up putting the project away. I do put it all away together and I don’t forage in it to find pieces for other things. How do I not let the interruptions force me into stopping?
@marypolancodesigns9 ай бұрын
This is tough for those of us juggling a lot. But I have learned to be okay with stopping my projects at certain points. I used to be really bothered by it but I know that I'll return soon as I can. I don't know if that helps. :)
@RedQueensJubileeClub9 ай бұрын
@@marypolancodesigns I had thought I would slow down, say no to people, and stick to a project until it was completed. That seems like the mature way to deal with the projects and interruptions. However, now I find myself looking at ceramic kilns. Let’s face it… if it’s not one thing it’s everything. 🫣

Hi, Mary. Good to see you again.I always enjoy your videos. But, I have to make a comment here. In the last card you made use of cosmic shimmer. I have a complaint about that company. And I spend a lot of money on that alone. I called them and all they told me to do was add water to it. It made it even worse because it made it lumpy. So, anyhow, I just wanted to let you know about that. I don't know if anyone else has had a problem or just me.
@marypolancodesigns8 ай бұрын
I've had issues with really old containers during out and water never helped me personally. To prevent that, take a piece of press and seal and put it under the cap. You won't run into that problem anymore. I hope that helps. 😊
