1. Onions which are antiviral & antibacterial, use skins & all. One large or 2 small onions with skins. 2. Water to cover simmer 30 minutes not boiling. 3. Ghee & sea salt, add to onion broth 4..Garlic optional. Use entire bulb cut horizontally with skins on, add to the pot. 5. Ginger - whole sliced unpeeled organic ginger.

I used to put a garlic clove in my children’s ear when they had a cold/sore throat. Big enough so it just sits at the ear canal but doesn’t get in there. I also used to rub menthol and fresh pressed garlic rub on the soles of their feet with bed socks on to sleep overnight My children never needed antibiotics other than natural remedies

Same here. When all six of my kids were young I kept a basket of odd socks that permanently smelled of garlic and Vicks. My youngest is 12 now and no one gets sick any more, beyond a cold. If we start to feel run down we eat a clove of garlic with a little honey. 🙂

I make a Filipino soup called Arroz Caldo whenever anyone is sick or on the verge of getting sick. I make it with lots of onions, green onions, garlic, and ginger to give that punch in the throat. I also use some citrus juice (lime, lemon, or calamansi) in the recipe.

Hi Mary. My wife and I caught covid from the in-laws. I remembered seeing this video and decided to make it for us even though we are on medication. You can't beat natural! I made it with the onion, two cloves of garlic and four quartered mushrooms. I didn't have any whole ginger. When I added a little sea salt to it, it reminded us of a delicious onion soup we get at our favorite Asian restaurant. I think it would be fantastic with the little floating round crackers in it. I feel a little better already! Thanks, Mary.

I used to keep a jar in the fridge full of local raw honey, lemon slices, and ginger pieces. You can just spoon some of the honey, lemon and ginger pieces into a mug and top it up with hot water to make a tea. It’s absolutely amazing for coughs, sore throats, and you can just top it off with more pieces and honey whenever it’s getting low. I should make another jar, now that I think of it! Thanks Mary 💛

Hello Mary! :) Jsyk, in 2003 I caught SARS1. After 18 days of flu-like symptoms, it turned into pneumonia. After 8 weeks of pneumonia someone suggested I eat liver. I felt like I was dying. I was 32. But within 2 day of eating a lamb liver casserole with onion, red pepper and carrot, I felt right as rain! Liver is a powerhouse of nutrition which supports lung health and immunity.

Thank you Mary, I'm a true believer in whole foods being medicine. I use this regularly just as an immune booster too, and switch it up when I have more of any ingredient at a time...I use olive oil sometimes, add in parsley when I have it...I also do a 100 clove of garlic soup with whatever else I might have on hand, the garlic gets sweeter on a slow simmer which my family loves!!! Herbs always a welcomed bonus👍😁

I make chicken broth with 4 large onions and always find that makes a difference to get me over it quickly . I thought it was the chicken, but the onions are likely adding to the effect . I used to use a whole chicken but too expensive these days so now I just use 2 chicken breasts. Cold water on the chicken, and bring it to a boil and skim it, turn it on low to simmer add salt and pepper corns .Then add 4 large onions whole. Some celery with leaves, carrots and a tomato will clear it . (Use them whole also). Score the tomato on top if fresh . Simmer for at least 3 hours. Enjoy. Not as hard to take as onions alone.

I’m also do a chicken soup but using a chicken carcass and chicken breast . This is simmered with, onions, garlic (I’ll be leaving the skins in it now) celery , carrots ,ginger, black pepper, sea salt and water to cover. Usually cooks for a couple of hours. Strained. Give clear soup to anyone who isn’t very well. Everyone else gets shredded Chicken breast and noodles. Even if it’s me who is sick this is so easy to throw into a slow cooker.

Thank you for re-sharing recipes women passed on for ages. 🥰 Ginger is amazing, it takes away the tiredness and limb aches for me. Lemon is antiseptic as well. My favourite onion recipe is natural cough syrup: you take a small to medium diced-up onion in a smaller jar and cover it with honey. Let it sit overnight and then strain the liquid the next day into another jar. Cough syrup done. Not the best taste but not the worst, either. I remember 1 tsp an hour (?), but you can also try less first.

Hi Mary great video I do we have to give you another little tip you can also use during the cold and flu season or if someone in your house is sick slice some onions in half and leave them sitting around the flu virus Or other viruses will go right into the onion itself once I started leaving the sliced in half and sitting out on my counter or one in the living room one in the bedroom wherever you’re going to be you can move it around with you it will absorb the virus itself really works

Great recipe! We use it all the time. I would just add that we add ginger towards the end of cooking because the medicinal ingredients in ginger are destroyed if you cook it more than fifteen minutes. We also leave chopped onion and garlic for roughly 30 minutes on the counter to allow the reaction to occur. In the meantime the amount of active ingredients greatly increase. Love your channel and your energy.🙂🙂

Not sure if this is the same thing, in my younger days when I felt like a cold coming on I would make an onion stir fry with a little chicken. I was told it was the alum in the onion. Not sure why I stopped, but it worked every time

A raw fermented version is made from these very ingredients in as much water but uncooked. Add some sea salt & maybe apple cider vinegar or ripe apple slices. It will be ready in a week or two or up to a month depending on your ambient temperature. Also you can include horseradish, mushroom, parsley (for green power), rue & maybe tiny bit of red hot pepper.

Miss Mary, I made this as soon as I saw the video. Luckily, I had everything already here in the kitchen! It turned out beautifully! And might I add, very tasty 😋! After sipping on it a few times, I decided to add about 1/4 tsp of homemade green powder I have been working on. Yum! Bonus!- additional health benefits and even tastier. Thanks so much for walking us through the process, sharing your recipe and for you and your sweet husband taking the time and making the effort to educate us all with your recipes and reasoning behind why Nutrient Dense foods and Integrative Medicine are so important.

I make something similar, congee. I add one cup of rice to 4 cups of broth. Cook the brown rice in the broth till the rice is completely dissolved. Add whatever veggies you have on hand, I prefer mushrooms, spinach, or mixed veggies, etc. sometimes I add some lentils or seaweed. Some people like to add a beaten egg to the mix. Green onions on top. It makes a very soothing soup to eat all day till it’s gone. I love the strong onion, garlic and ginger flavor in the rice and veggies.

I did add the tiniest bit of Manuka honey and lemon, but I tried it before adding those and it was still tasty. Thank you so much I hope this helps. For many generations my family used onion peel tea. We put loads of onion peel (not the onion itself) and boil for 30 min but 10 min before the end I add a handfull of walnuts/pecans and just before turning the fire off, add 3 tbsp of honey. Add a few drops of vanilla. Then drain and drink 1 small cup 4 times a day. That s how I treat all the colds and it worked for covid too
