To be honest, I like that game. But, there's something that I hate about that game. The game is too hard even though we still on a beginning stage Nd levels. We have to level up to upgrade the hero which is kinda annoying. And heroes, they need more heroes and it's kinda hard to collect all the hero shards. Anyway, I enjoyed the game.

Let me put it this way. If you Enjoy Sega heroes by all mean play and enjoy it. If you like taking your time on the game so you can have a team really powerful, A team to take on harder content in sega heroes. More power to you. Every App Game you see by triple AAA, Korean,JP gaming industry are always going to Monetize the game however they see fit as long they make off money of it. That being said. There are 2 types of App Game with Monetization... 1.) Doing it the right way, where The Investor and The Delevoper are making a game they enjoy and knows it will success so the Consumer that can enjoy whatever the game may be, as long they get the machinac of the game fair and keeping there Monetization fair and that also implies and listening to the players feedback of the game...(These are the rare kind of Team that makes the app into a success "at times") 2.) A company can Pull a EA and be as a Greedy Money Consuming Gaming Industry and try to do whatever they can to suck up your cash whatever Necessary making your progress alot harder as a player whatever game you are playing which ever series you enjoy harder to progress futher into the game..... Ok I lied there 3 types actually 3.) A Company that Plays in the middle Good or bad intentions, Some times they give players good events and progress at times pretty much having a good time on it and there will be times there will be events that is so unfair and greedy, that you'll probably be pissed off from...but in the end of the day you continue on playing like any other day since it's a game you'll hold on for awhile since you enjoy playing it or not,just uninstall the game if it's not your cup of tea... How Sega Heroes fit into any of the 3 categories that is up to you too decide of your point of view of this games. That pretty much how Mobile game is nowadays.

"Worst *SEGA* Mobile Game". And in my opinion, it's among the top 10 worst mobile games I've played. Compared to Disney Heroes, it's highly P2W and the difficulty curves way too early. My roster in DH is much better and includes more characters. At least with some of the other worst games I've played, it was more entertaining. Pixel Gun 3D, Road To Survival, and even NBA Live Mobile. But hey, ya have your own opinions.

5:37 Ax Battler and Death Adder have that exact conversation in the game. It goes something like: DA: "You have been avoiding me." AX: "You killed my family." DA: "You killed me." AX: "And yet, here you are." It's actually pretty awesome to see all these characters interacting, even though so briefly and through limited cutscenes.

Interesting. I don't think that saves the game entirely, but it is interesting that they put that kind of conversation into the game. It's not something I saw when I was playing, so it would have had to have been either way later, or added after release. Still, fun that they would acknowledge what I was complaining about.

I do enjoy Match 3 games, and its "battle" variants like Puzzle Quest, Puzzle & Dragons, etc., and the character collecting, level up etc can be quite addicting, but the main reason I've been playing this is because of all the awesome throwback characters I grew up with.

While I kind of see your point, it think this game is ok. I just take a slow approach on it. But you are definetly right that the energy charging time is taking far too long. And you need freakingly much energy to actually finish some stages and farm shards. The game is ok, it's just veeeeeeryyyy slow ... (for free users like me)

It's up to you to decide whether or not a game is good. I can look at this game and realize how greedy the developers are, especially since Marvel Strike Force, a much more popular game, is getting negative media coverage right now because it's doing some of the exact same things that Sega Heroes is doing in terms of hero shards, loot boxes, and monetization. The great thing about the internet is that I Do have every right to be able to tell people not to play something. Let me flip that on you, though- what is it about the game that makes you want to defend it?

I mean I've been playing daily and not had to spend a penny, event modes are tough to start off with and i will say the artwork and character moves are terrible but the game is fine, gems are best done by completing the daily events and the power level isn't per level it's per sections so 1000pts on is ok if you have a 1/1 but if you have 1/6 you won't be winning. There are bugs and they seems to be fixing it, literally no point spending real life money unless you want to win the VS, I've literally thought to myself how nice it is that it doesn't push you to spend money. Oh and yeah lacking the classic music is a thumbs down.

Entirely free player here, started playing a few weeks ago. The game gets VERY abusive with the temptation several times, as well as having many campaign stages where the enemies are far too overleveled, obviously designed to make you dump money into stronger heroes or upgrading your unlocked ones. But I said FUCK THAT and relied solely on what the game gives for free: Eight daily chests, level up and achievement rewards, Arena tokens for new heroes or promotions, looting campaign stages and the one I unlocked just yesterday, Survival mode. It's totally possible to get good at this game without going through the paywall, you just gotta chip at it with whatever you got every day. Insane, I know, but it works. Although I have to say that it's not worth it at all unless you're a die-hard classic Sega fan like myself. *Sigh,* what I'd do for a real RPG with all those characters as opposed to microtransaction bait...

Keep in mind, my video was made before lots of significant changes. When I made the video, you got 2 daily chests that had 5 shards each in them, and completing the daily challenges gave a single gem each with completing all of them giving you a single Sonic shard. There was only a single campaign, stamina regained very very slowly, and leveling your characters was also excruciatingly slow. I'm sure they've made it way better and more fun to play, but the fact that the game needed tons of fixes to be playable has already soured me from trying it again.

At the very least, with the announcement of the genesis classic, the new Toejam and Earl, Streets of Rage 4, and sega's recent email survey asking what franchises we liked the best; it seems like Sega's trying to get back in touch with the classic gamers that they seem to have pushed away, so at least there's hope there!

I have some complaints that aren't worth listing in a comment, but I was surprised that there are no Virtua fighter characters. I thought it was one of Sega's most popular franchises. We could have had a great selection of 8 characters from it. I just came across this game and am under the impression that Sega doesn't support it or update it anymore so I doubt they'll come. I feel this game had a lot of potential.

There was always like 5 of them and almost always there was no way to get rid of any of them. They were annoying. And yes, even though my power level was like 500 more than the enemy, I still lost at the last stage. It's a shame because even if the game is really simple, I think it could have been a lot more. After playing the game for a few weeks, the biggest insult is the arena. You can easily lose even if you're like 3000 power levels higher. Your characters can die in about 2 attacks while the AI requires like 20 attacks to kill. The AI makes a move and then the gems fall for it to attack another 20 times. And when you think you secured a rank, they randomly knock you back before you can get the rewards. I hope they lost money on this game. If they want money, they should monetize on ads like King of Fighters. You get great awards for "watching" ads on that game.

I agree with you on that. My only true problem with the game was the usually unfair Arena battles. Even using the strongest characters fully upgraded, had me struggling. If they had fixed that while the game was still running, I would have had NO issue with it at all.

Know what I can't stand? The fact that SOME people don't know how to enjoy games and be glad it's there! Instead of getting this masterpiece we could have gotten Something terrible but NO some people don't know how to enjoy the game, people say "This game is a pay to win" or "This game is too hard" or "This is basically candy crush and PVD" (Which I STILL can't understand). The game isn't even that hard when you first start the game, they just say that because THEY are having trouble with the game and don't know how to get past a certain part of the game! I feel like you're being a little apologist to the game, you know? It is 100% pay to win, the more money you pay the better you do in the arenas because you'll have better heroes that are higher level; and even if all you bought was energy it'd be the same thing, you could do more missions and get more rewards and level up faster and be stronger than people who hadn't paid money. And it's not that i don't know how to play the game- I only stopped playing it a few days ago after they pushed out an update that lowered the amount of rewards you could potentially get from every story mission and introduced a completely different story mission that you could only do if you'd gotten certain heroes (which you'd likely only be able to get if you'd paid money) that gives lots of bonus rewards... The game is absolutely pay to win, and no amount of strategy is going to let you win in the arena against someone who dropped $100.

It just so happens that I get knocked back up quickly. I'm able to do Beyondering Campaign after I got one of the two yellows I needed once again, without paying. Doesn't matter whether they dropped 10,000 thousand dollars or more, it wouldn't change how they play, in which is why I know how to take my time instead of paying to get things, people just decide to pay instead of waiting.

If someone got to the same level as you, but had heroes that had been leveled up twice as high by farming materials and shards, that you'd be able to beat them? that's what pay to win means- yes, they're doing it faster, but they're paying money to win NOW, and stomping all over players who are taking their time and playing slowly. Without paying, you will *literally never* catch up to the guy that's in first, in the arena, because he's simply paid more money than anyone else and he's unstoppable.

I got those characters: 2 Yellows (Adler, Monkey), 3 Blues (Ax, Ageha, Rolf), 1 Green (Amy Rose), 2 Reds (Blaze, Kunoichi) without paying. We should play the game, but shouldn't pay too much. The newest update is really a pain in the ***. Hope Sega will do sth better in the next one.

Sega Heroes is my favourite Mobile App I've ever played. Or.. was.. 😭😭 I didn't spend a single penny on this game. I was very close once, but I decided against it. Ended up getting Silver anyway, so it worked out. And I honestly never cared about the rankings. I played it for FUN. Seems like every game nowadays has you focus on the leaderboards. That's why I prefer games like Mario or Sonic, because most don't have that. Again, I said MOST. Some of them have rankings. I'm aware that everyone has a different opinion, and none of us are TRULY correct. None of us can confirm what the worst or best games in a franchise are, because we don't all think the same. That being said, in MY OPINION, this is one of the best Mobile games ever. It's my personal fave, too. I feel like I went on too long.. OH WELL. 😂😂

I agree with the paid part and the power doesn't matter that is true I enjoy this game but it does take a lot of grinding to get by in it like 200 gems for 5 character shards is ridiculous when u can just loot or use arena and the so called deals are not deals like why pay 2,000+ gems for 10 legendary character shards which is about 20 dollars also the rewards are almost for nothing like 100 coins for fighting a battle I almost lost is ridiculous that's almost an insult and for arena I got down 1000 numbers when I dont play for like an hour so this game needs to be tweaked

The f2p vs p2p thing isn’t an issue anymore since the game has been discontinued and it is extremely easy to gain characters now, there is an exclusive mode where everyone has access to it and it allows you to get characters really easily, I managed to get over 30 characters in a day and each of them are 4 stars or more, yes it is still very difficult to level up but the game is made easier with this update

From someone who only plays on mobile I'm thinking of deleting this game, it's fun and i enjoy it but it's so hard and not in the good way, the way as in you'll just be looting levels multiple times a day just so you can upgrade heroes and progress through the game, they have fixed some of the difficulty spikes I think but this game still gives me some bad vibes because I'm so fucking sick of hitting those times walls and it feels purposely built like this but I do enjoy the concept of the game and the game itself but the mechanics and shit need to fuck right off but they won't, who knows, in a few months my stance could completely changed when I've unlocked all the characters and beaten all the zones but I don't know.

It's more about using those characters in a *respectful* way. Sonic gets a lot of love, but series like Phantasy Star don't get any attention in the west normally. Having Alis and Lassic in the game feels cool, but it really diminishes the impact of having them in the game when they're either locked behind a 100+ hour grind or they cost $20 to unlock, you know? in 2020 we're finally getting PSO2 in the west, which is a HUGE improvement over what we've been given in the past. But not all of Sega's franchises are so lucky. Monkey Ball, Golden Axe, Jet Set Radio and Streets of Rage (until recently) weren't given ANY love past their original releases, and to see Sega say "HEY YOU LIKE THESE CHARACTERS? PAY MONEY, NERD!" seems disrespectful.

I don't have any issues with them using their characters whatsoever, but I do have issue with them being exploitative about their usage, pandering to nostalgia while not *actually* giving the fans what they really want. Thankfully since publishing this video (almost 8 months ago, wow) Sega has seemed to wisen up to what gamers really want, with a new Streets of Rage, rumors of a new Monkey Ball game, PSO2 to the west, and their Sega Genesis Mini console actually being done well. @@QuestionBlockGaming So some of the values you stated such as Shards required for Unit Upgrading as one level above required. IE: Unit unlocks for 1 Star are not 15 shards but 10, 2 Star are not 25 but 15, etc. Also, yes, it does seem like there is a pay wall but if you save your gems, and pvp those 3 times a day, you can amass quite a few gems. Exploiting the fact that you can focus solely on a specific unit also helps dampen the feeling of not getting far, as Blaze is one of the first characters you get and can pretty much decimate enemies using her specials. So, in conclusion, video was very harsh on those who choose to play the app in a free to play style, simply because like most things, everyone wants everything instantly. I feel, maybe a revision on some of the information stated would be in order. Than again, your call. Just my 2 cents.

@@lazarozamora3032 Ah, I guess I did make a small mistake on those values- upgrading a one-star hero takes 15, but unlocking it takes 10, I must have gotten my wires crossed while writing my review. The paywall does come in quite quickly, and you CAN amass gems, but it's way slower to play like that than it would to play the game while amassing gems through achievements. You simply don't get enough gems through chests to supplement your progression. Blaze's special IS quite good but her HP pool is ludicrously low compared to 3, 4 and 5 star heroes that you can get just by dropping money on the game. And, three days after I made this video, Sega actually lowered the amount of shards you could get for free by removing their drop chances from early areas, increased the energy requirements for some missions that drop shards, and introduced a second campaign that you can only play through if you've gotten four relatively rare heroes. The net result for this, is that you'll get less shards overall (as you can only loot a space 8 times a day without resetting them with gems), and you'll spend more energy (which recharges way, WAY too slowly) to get those same shards, and there's an entire campaign with its own separate energy bar that you can also charge with gems... And it's the truth that the game is very harsh on players who try to play for free. Take a look at other games like Dragalia Lost, I'm able to participate in literally every event and literally every mission in the game, without paying a single cent. I can't say the same about Sega Heroes, as there are daily events that I can't complete because I don't have the requisite heroes. Sure, you'll be able to complete it eventually, but the game is VERY focused on finding new avenues to have people pay money. The fact that they removed areas that dropped shards is the biggest indicator that all they see this game as, is a cash cow.

What with all the people here defending this bad game? Well, sure they gave more easily its contents few months before, you know, it was going to be SHUT DOWN, but what about before that? Well the vid is from a year ago....and I've played SH for around 3 months last year (late may '19~august '19), before my old phone died on me, and I got a new one....so your frustations do resonate with mine to a degree. I really hate the shard system btw...I'd rather have a insanely small drop rate for super rare characters, but once I get them, I can ACTUALLY use them for the get go, than having to, say, have to play Survivor mode for 2827272 times just so I can unlock Wren. And the campaign had the worst difficulty Ive ever seen in these sort of games. Ive been playing KOF All Star constantly for 2 weeks, played up to almost all the way to KOF 98 on story, and only now I've hit a hard wall requiring lots of grinding. On SH, in the other hand, it took me 3 FUCKING DAYS to hit that hard wall. And the grinding wasnt fun or interesting at all, unlike in KOF. So, goodbye Sega Heroes, not sad to see you go 🤣🤣

I really wanted to like this because I love Sega's IPs but it's such a scummy zero-effort cash grab and the update just made things much worse, already uninstalled, generic uninspired backgrounds and music, collecting resources to upgrade characters, abilities or unlock them takes a really long time and you run out of energy pretty fast (yes, this game uses the classic mobile game energy system to make things slow and boring so you have to pay to do things quicker) but the newest update made things even worse, they removed most of the rewards from the campaign and added a new alternate campaign, one that you can only play with certain characters, I couldn't even play it because I needed Phantasy Star and/or Jet Set Radio characters in order to even play it, problem is you can only get those characters by purchasing them.... so yeah, it's just pure monetization and no game, I feel sorry for the suckers that will stick to it because of nostalgia, I love Sega's IPs, their worlds and their characters but I'm not stupid enough to keep ''playing'' this.

It's fun, at least it let's you grind without playing the levels again as long as you get 3 stars. The encouragement to buy stuff is pretty bad but it's a free to play mobile game so what do you expect?

I wouldn't count on much changing, aside from maybe damage scaling in missions. Sega's in a difficult position here. Increasing drop rates for shards means that it'd devalue things that people have paid for, and making things TOO easy would mean that people wouldn't be incentivized to pay for anything in the first place. They swung too hard towards making people pay for stuff in the beginning, and changing it now would be an incredibly difficult thing to do.

After making this video, they released another campaign that required a different set of heroes (The Beyondering), and about 2 weeks after that came out, they released an update that changed what heroes you could use in campaign levels, and also gave everyone the heroes you needed to start playing The Beyondering for free, including a second free 3-star hero. Obviously a video made before these updates won't have information about them, but I will say, the update messed me up because one of my strongest heroes, which I had gotten from free chests and grinding, was suddenly no longer usable in the standard campaign.

You know before yesterday's update I might've contested some things in this video and say that some aspects are F2P friendly. But the developers quickly showed that they just want your cash and don't care about how the game plays. In yesterday's update they slashed half of the lootable campaign spots, effectively reducing how many shards you can get for a single hero by over half. Some characters (like Shadow) lost all of their loot spots so you can't farm them anymore. Some newer characters got new loot spots but before when there were 6 loot spots per zone there's only 3. Gold, XP and materials drop in fewer numbers across the board, slowing progress. They took away hero shard rewards in the arena store and replaced them with "mega" arena tokens. Before Legendary Characters took regular arena tokens, so even if you were struggling in arena you could eventually get some legendary shards. But now they can only be bought with the new mega tokens, so if you can't stay within the top 200 spots in your arena, no legendary shards for you. But the biggest offense was splitting the roster between two different main campaigns. Before you could use whoever you wanted wherever you wanted. Now only certain sets of characters can be used in the "main" campaign, and others can only be used in the new "beyondering" campaign. So if you were using a team that had a character that mixed these 2 different groups together, your strategy was effectively thrown in the garbage for NO reason. Wanted to use Sonic the Hedgehog alongside Beat from Jet Set Radio? Well you can in the daily events and the arena. BUT NOT IN THE MAIN MODE OF THE GAME? So yeah. In my opinion the game had redeeming qualities, and I was willing to look past its flaws because this was probably the closest I'd ever get to a large SEGA crossover fighter. But Demiurge and SEGA obviously don't care. They should've tried to pull this back during the soft launch beta, rather than less than a week after its global launch. Supposedly they are releasing a "fix" for this patch but have not mentioned reworking the two separate campaigns whatsoever. What a joke. TL;DR - Don't waste your time on this money-hungry game and don't support the developers of it.

I didn't mind the artstyle tbh but the game itself is just a quick cash grab, I figured I'd keep playing it just to unlock my fav characters but ended up uninstalling it as soon as I updated and saw how they made things even scummier just to get suckers to pay, and no Sega, giving away a free 2* character didn't make things better.

If you're gonna attack someone for their view on a game you worship the ever-loving fuck out of, I think you're the one who needs to chill. Considering this video is basically a view and experience somebody has for the game, they really shouldn't be pelted and punished for pointing out flaws (in this case, the flaws are difficulty and a pay to win system) and giving their overall view. Let's go back to, I don't know, 2012? Sonic and All-Stars Racing Transformed has just released, you're excited as could be when you get the game. You're enjoying your time on it when suddenly you have to pay to continue the World Tour mode, or even worse, the whole game. Not only would that stunt your learning ability, it would completely destroy your love and hope for the game, so you'd eventually stop playing since you can't do much with it due to a 5 plays per day limit. Now, I haven't played SH, but I mainly watch people's views to get a grasp on the overall game. From what I've seen, you'd have to have Vyse-level optimism to believe this game won't fall farther into money hell. (Also this video is from November of 2018. It's March of 2019. Why are people getting pissed at an old video?)

**10 months later** now try and say this is the worst sega mobile game and it’s “awful” Sega Heroes is actually one of the BEST mobile games in general, i’ve played it for a while and the in-game content gets updated regularly with new updates and balance patches, it still has it’s problems but nowhere near “awful”.

First off,their are some things wrong with this review. 1-The art is not bad,it's litterally the same artwork but remade into a new style. 2-SEGA did make the game fun,because it's satisfying to kick ass in the game and yet you feel relieved after defeating them. 3-Half of the Sonic games were either too easy,or to hard. Why bother complaining? 4- The whole "villain takes over the world" cliche does not sound familiar to you at all?Hell,I know Eggman spiced things up a bit,but we never heard anybody else complaining about him taking over the world 20 times,over 20 years. 5- The game also makes it fun for you by adding in a puzzle mechanic,along with strategies for you to follow, and they explain them quite well. 6- The plot isn't poorly made, half of it is easy to catch on, and is truly just simpler to understand, compared to the other Sonic games that make you go "What the fuck". 7- Another reason why the art is good because of it's style,It puts a more cartoonish feel into and doesn't go all out like "Sonic chronicles:and the Dark Brotherhood" did,but yet it was enjoyable.. And besides from that the animation is smoother,but yet some of them come out good. 8- (For the other youtuber who said it's about "farming money".)I disagree with what they said because, half of the quest give you gems,and other tokens to level up your character. [I agree with half of the things you said,like "the game is punishing",and "your power level doesn't matter".]

As of March: The only missions that require certain star levels are the "legendary" events. Arena now has 4 keys per day. Grinding is still stupid, but you can reliably loot 4 rare campaign missions and 2 epic beyondering missions per day b/c of the energy drops. Stages were rebalanced, but the guy in the video doesn't seem to know how to target and refuses to properly deal with Lemanaya's "counter" team buff. And finally: it's a match-three game for two types of people: people who are already decent at match-three games before coming in, and whales. All in all: current form lots better than release form, but this guy still needs to git gud
