@cornucopia8591 I've been aware of Don Airey for decades. I used have both Genn Hughes Phenomenon albums that Don played on. Also the Alaska album. I saw Jethro Tull live twice, during the Crest of a Wave and Catfish Rising tours. A tight band; Doane Perry, Dave Pegg, Don Airey, Martin Barre, and Ian Anderson!! His body of work with so many bands is stellar, Ozzy, Sabbath, Brian May, Wishbone Ash, and Rainbow, to name a few.

And I may be wrong but don’t think that John would not have a problem with knowing that the also incredible Dan Airey is filling that all important keyboards role in this band. And Steve does fine as well. Richie is never coming back as he has before. I’ve seen him many times and even hav half of one of his Strats from a show at the International Amphitheater many years ago. But Steve has been with them for so many years now that the last tim I saw them many years ago he was already with them. I’m sure a lot of people will argue with me but I still believe that after listening to the complete double album set of Made In Japan with headphones that I had listened to the greatest live album made in my lifetime for the type of music that k like. 🐢7-29-2023

Definitely. Something I think people recognize subconsciously but don't much talk about is that Blackmore's playing had this sort of aggressive undercurrent, almost like he's attacking the listener with his playing a little bit. Steve Morse is a great player and has the chops, but he didn't have that aggressive streak. Simon does, and these new clips with him just hit that little bit harder because of it.

Yes, it wasn't so good anymore, but even with that kind of playing he was able to record amazing melodies. He is very talented. This new guitarist is absolute TOP! But if he feets with the old guys? I don't know. Sounds absolutely great, but feels like something wrong. I have all DP albums and of course if they record another one, i'll buy it.

Ritchie Blacmore recorded ones of the best guitar records in whole world. You can be well technical guitar player, but can't create and record your own song.

Starting with min 5:03 reminds me of one of the most tasty licks signed Steve Lukather ! Simon is a great guitar player anyway!

I'm sorry to probably rain on most people's parade here but this does sound like a good performance of a cover band. Deep Purple have been my favorite band all of my life. Really blew me away first time hearing them and becoming a fan for life. This gives me the right to be a bit cynical and realistic, so I think it's time to call it quits.

Yes, it's time for you to stop listening to them, go see them on stage and watch/comment videos on KZbin. After all, it's your life and nobody cares. About what they should be doing, it's their life, not yours.

I was there, visited the Kunstmuseum and could hear the massive soundcheck, felt sorry for the audiencee of the Jazz Open as we were home and it started to rain. But the worst thing was, that we didn‘t know, that Deep Purple was going to play there!!! F...!!!
