I just realized that since Baba’s training focuses on gathering external energy, that Chi-Chi is going to be quite the natural at forming the Spirit Bomb. It’s much the same concept , and I imagine it may even be capable of being more potent than Goku’s in the original, if that’s the direction you decide to go in. Regardless, loving the story! Cannot wait for the next installment, your storytelling is great as always.

@@Niall_Sene It wouldn’t even be that hard to fit it in. Since Chi Chi effectively knows the Genki Dama anyway, she’ll be able to spend more time perfecting Kaio Ken. And if you think about the idea of using external ki to amplify your own, that’s more or less just combining the two techniques into something very like Vegeta’s post-Yardrat power set. And it would make sense why it’s an extension of both powers that Goku never considered in the main timeline since he’s reluctant to use any power that isn’t his (he doesn’t ever seem to particularly *like* using the Spirit Bomb, saving it for Hail Mary situations when things look their absolute worst). So of course he’d never consider this potential application. Doing things this way would honestly go a huge way towards nerfing Freeza’s transformation bonuses and even Super Saiyan itself. It might finally be the one in-universe means by which the humans could actually stand tall with the big guns of Universe 7

@topher nolastname I'm not saying she's necessarily going to use it on Namek, but the Spirit Bomb *was* used in the Saiyan Saga. And even if it doesn't end up being the case, she's going to Kai's place to train either way. She will likely end up learning it, and, knowing Masako, he will find some place for her to use it at some point seeing as she's more involved in fights. At the end of the day though I'm just being a nerd and speculating. We shall see how the story progresses!

# 001 I doubt it would impact Goku anymore in this story than in the original (assuming that Goku knew about it in the original). Sure he'd be mortified at first but would come to terms with it over time. You'd think Grandpa Gohan would share this revelation at some point when Goku and Chi Chi went to deal the fire mountain incident, with that Goddess whose name escapes me at the time of this writing.

This one seems to be getting more and more interesting as it goes, and it was already a fun idea to start with. And even if Chi-Chi retires, there's still a lot of room for a follow-up with the aftereffects of her mixed martial and magical training, for sure. In the vein of other what-ifs, I can't help but feel that "What if Goku Kept His Tail?" would be fun, and could have a surprising amount of impact despite being a relatively small change... with the potential for a bad end if he couldn't rein in the oozaru's power or overcome the glaring weakpoint the tail paralysis presents, and if it didn't go south, it'd also have the potential to more or less even out with the main story by the time super saiyan enters the picture, so it could be a slightly shorter one too.

Goku had already eliminated the weakness of his tail prior to the King Piccolo arc, as Krillin unfortunately learned at the World Tournament match he had with Goku after trying to exploit that weakness.

Something just occurred to me. I can see Gohan taking a Namekian frog as a familiar. How neat would it be to have an alien familiar? And a Namekian one at that, since that planet has its own magical history that would be interesting to explore. Or better yet, having his avatar form eventually evolving away from a copy of his mom into being an Oozaru-like monkey….form. It has me thinking that, if Gohan develops the same relationship with Piccolo here, I can see him taking a path of learning Namekian (rather than Earth) magic for his own path since they have a more established history as battle mages for him to emulate AND would give him a path of his own that would honor both his Saiyan, human, and Namekian heritage/upbringing. Could Gohan eventually learn the secret of the Dragonballs and make them for himself? Could he become the eventual Guardian of Earth? Probably not, but it’s a neat idea.

Hmm I like how subtley shifted this one is time wise, its not a massive amount, but it feels worth noting. I wonder if we will get the events doubling up on Namek or even if Namek will happen at all. After all if a certain set of ears has that news this early on, its entirely possible they go now as well as Vegeta and Nappa, alternatively it may be dismissed due to a lack of evidence.

I love this angle. Of course Goku is still gonna spare Radditz, it's just in his nature. Also, my suggestion for the roundtable of what ifs, what if Zenkai boosts were also a human feature? Think about the story potential! It would be a version of the story where EVERY human fighter we know and love gets a chance to shine. Would love to see this idea tossed around. Great work Masako! 👍

I almost wondered if it wouldn't have been possible for Goku to take Raditz as a prisoner and let Chi-Chi decide his fate. I suppose that can come later, but since I like raditz so much I wondered how he would take to being held captive by the earthlings and eventually finding out that Vegeta only came for the dragon balls and not him. So Raditz is still alive so there's still a possibility of Raditz turning good maybe. Any reason why Gohan's bull aura is red instead of a different color like Green or Orange, because of him been a Half-Saiyan? It took a bit longer because of getting Gohan back, but still everybody got a year to train before Nappa and Vegeta shows up. Gohan going to get really strong training with Piccolo and Goku during the year. Anyways another really good part, and looking forward to the next part soon.

So far been Loving this series very much and it makes more sense as well as keeping faithful to Chi Chi's personality and how she would actually approach these kind of situations. I think this would be my 3rd favorite Dragon ball what if story out of your collection: 1. Reprogrammed Cell 2. Z-Fighter Bulma 4. Gine / Raditz (Both Stories being with Kakarot) 5. Female Goku ( Lotus will be a good alternate name) 6. Z-fighter Videl 7. Heroic Z-Fighter Ginyu Force / Mark Hercule/ Goku Briefs / Goku x Bulma

Remember, even in the original, Gohan’s rage power was nearly that when he burst out of the pod and gut punched Raditz. And that was with him having had zero training or awareness of his own power. He has more knowledge of these things here, so probably has a more stable base since he understood what powering up was here. Now I’m not saying Gohan was normally 2000, but the rage boost of his mom being murdered probably goosed him up to 2k, at least for a moment or two, which matched Raditz’ after his Zenkai. From there, magic took over and provided Gohan the extra power to curbstomp Raditz. So Vegeta and Nappa just think Gohan is *really* good at punching above his weight, not that the scouters can necessarily sense magic? I imagine, like the Iron Bulma WI, there’s going to be a lot of situations where enemies lowball Chi Chi’s power because they can only sense her ki only to get hit by a magical freight train the scouter didn’t see coming.

On the way to Namek Chi Chi trains with Goku in extreme gravity, and teaches him the Kaioken. Goku reaches Namek as or stronger than he is in the original timeline. Chi Chi mostly backs off from training but she still stays in shape and keeps herself ready. While she wants to focus on being a wife and mother, she’s the only person who knows the Spirit Bomb. This keeps Chi Chi necessary but it also turns into a glow up for Goku, instead of backing off to charge the Spirit bomb he’s out fighting still.

Gravity training couldn’t be an option. I don’t think the Namekian ship had that function and Capsule Corp didn’t have time to do much retrofitting since they left in such a hurry. Hopefully they have some time before Nappa and Vegeta get to Earth in order to catch up before the big showdown happens.
