Masala Vada is a savory fritter prepared with Chana dal (gram dal) and few spices. They are deep fried and served hot
channa dal crispy dumpling
Masala Vada

Ingredients
200 grams channa dal
3 piece cinnamon sticks
4 leaf curry leaves
1 number gr chilli
1 tsp jeera
1 to fry oil
1 small onion fine chopped
4 number red chilli whole
1 to taste salt

Directions
soak channa dal , blend cinnamon,red chilli and cumin and add channa dal and coarsely blend as shown
add rest of the ingredients ,add besan if the mixture is not bonding
make into flat dumplings and deep fry in medium heat till golden color and crispy

I just made these and they are awesome. Very crispy and delicious. I served them with yoghurt and mint chutney. My son loved them. Thank you Sanjay. :)

Actually when I was doing first time in my life on my own following yr recipe, I asked my mum for her recipe as well as I was doing. Guess what everything was exact same as yours even in the cinnamon stick. The only thing I could not grind coarsely but taste was toooo Good. Thankkkkkk you

h0tchapati, thank u much!! I made this yesterday anyway, but I used multi-purpose flour instead. It worked although it turned out a little hard. Will find besan flour and make this again. It's just so good and easy to make! THanks again!

hi sanjay.. i tried ur masala vada.. it tasted very good.. really awesome, but i tried once with ginger garlic paste really it was tasting too good.. y cant u try that once.. hope u too love it.. and am following ur receipes they taste really good u know especially biryani's.. i learnt many receipes from u.. thank u..

Good recipe, thanks! Hing (Asafoetida) is a good addition for dal, helps digestion. I also use some dhania patta and ground sauf.

Sanjay, good recipe and good delivery of the cooking procedure. I don't like the cinnamon in my recipe. I don't like the fact you are adding "bason" flour (ruins the authentic deep south Indian taste). Just thought of providing some comments...
