@003mohamud3 жыл бұрын
@@eternalhistory4706 Ethiopians are Semites who originated in the Habash mountains in Yemen (hence the name Habesha or Abyssinian). The West Eurasian Admixture in Somalia happened in the neolithic age, thousands of years ago. At that point migrations out of Africa were still happening, and a back-migration occured from north africa back to the source(the horn). For both peoples it is something at this point that we have always practically had even before the cultures evolved. The African base was probably some sort of proto-Nilotic. While us Somalis have thin noses, curly/straight hair, we lack the semetic noses and lighter skin of semeto-ethiopians. At his point the features have stabilized in both peoples. You won't see the huge discrepancies in looks like you would creole populations in cape verde, and in the Sahel which has mix middle eastern and black groups, because we have loooong ago passed the point of being mixed race and evolved and stabilized into our own race. We are the indigenous black Africans in the area. We deny because it makes no sense to count such an ancient event. Would you say Native Americans have the same looks and culture as Asians due to them migrating away from central Asia? No, because they have since long ago evolved to be compatible to their environment like everyone else on earth. Somalia is a windy place so a thin nose makes sense to prevent sand going in your lungs, just like how west Africans and bantu people evolved wide noses and features in increase air flow due to heat. If we are mixed, then 90% of people on earth are too, due to neolithic events. Are the bantu mixed, due to the bantu expansion mixing bantu pops with native african populations in other areas like, nilotes, khoisan and pygmies who are more pure? Would you say that Japanese are mixed due to the combination of Jomon(siberian group), Kumaso(a polynesian group), and Yayoi(group originating in China) in the neolithic age? You gonna start saying Japanese aint asian?

@@003mohamud Great reply. I thought the Ethiopians were originally "Cushites" who adopted a Semitic language due to contact with Southern Arabians. And as far as I know this is supported by genetic evidence as they are closely related to other horners and cluster with them genetically.

Southern African's (Namibia, South Africa, Lesotho, Swaziland/Eswatini, Botswana) "Bantu" ethnicities, are very different from central and west African's, we are shorter, very different customs and incorporate more clicks in our language, we also have high counts of Hunter Gatherer ancestry (Khoi-San), with the Nama people of Namibia, having 50-60%, Xhosa's/Tswana's/Sotho's 30-40%,. Also about the "Colored" population in South Africa, its very complicated, because its a vague category, only those found in Namaqua Land, have high Khoi ancestry (40-50%). Majority of the Cape "Colored's" are European, Asiatic(Indian/Malay) and Nguni mix, with miniscule Khoi ancestry being obtained through their Nguni (Xhosa/Zulu) ancestry. The reason why they tend to claim to have higher Khoi-san ancestry, is because of the history of Southern Africa, it is looked down upon to have "Bantu" ancestry, and there is politics surrounding who has the rights to land, so they over inflate, native Khoi ancestry. It's the same thing with Black Americans inflating Native American ancestry because being "African"/Descendants of slaves is a sore point for some of them.
@jontheb1233 жыл бұрын
Thing about the coloureds claiming Khoi ancestry is also related to the fact that the Khoi have been given "first nation" status. This has led to movements for Cape Independence - there are at least 4 that I know of - where the Western and Northern Cape are being claimed as Khoi territory.

Finally someone who actually understands Southern Africa and the different ethnicities.

""It's the same thing with Black Americans inflating Native American ancestry....." No, that is not reality - not a "thing". If there is a lighter skin black, then the first assumption is that there is mixture with whites. Yes, blacks and Native Americans "inter-mixed" some, but no inflation talk garbage. I think any concern of blacks having ties to Africa disappeared with the general acceptance of the "out of Africa" migration hypothesis.

@liveinwisdom36103 жыл бұрын
@@reignz6968 False, during the invasion of the Dutch, majority of Khoi san people fled into other African tribes for refuge. Mainly Nambia, Botswana, and Eastern regions of South Africa ( mainly where Xhosa people inhabited). The inter-mixing is evident in the language, names and culture, the Nama people of Namibia, 60-70% of their language has Khoi-san roots, 40% of the Xhosa's language has Khoi-san roots, hell even the distinctive clicks and the tribe name XHOSA comes from the Khoi. Colored people in the Western Cape, do not have the names, the language or the culture of any African group, it is mostly Asiatic and European, because that is their dominant heritage. You also mentioned ancestry from other African groups, which is a ridiculous point because they ranged in the few 100s, I do not know how you can confidently assign that to a population of 6 million coloreds. I am not denying that ancestry but it is moot, you are much more likely to have Zulu or Xhosa bantu ancestry.

You're a true ethnologue. I was surprised to see that you knew about the Greeks in the Northern Balkans, not a lot of people know this but in fact the Greek Revolution of 1821 started in the Wallachian town of Iasi, modern day Romania. In fact a problem that the Greeks always had way that they were scattered across a large area, roughly corresponding to Byzantium by 1040, however they were sandwiches as large minorites in almost all regions by other nations such as the Albanians, Bulgarians, Romanians and Turks. Even though the Greeks were richer, more educated, and often times more numerous than other Balkan nationalities, it was very hard to build a Greek nation state even when the Ottoman empire was unstable, because more compact ethnicities would engulf islets of Greeks. That's why Greece has had numerous population exchange deals and in the end suffered many different genocides.

Somalia, Until recently, many people perceived Somalia as a country with a population of 7,000,0000 people who share one culture, one language and one religion. This was the impression given during previous regimes in order to sustain the illusion of homogeneity. One of the things that were deliberately downplayed was the existence of minority groups. Although the population of minority groups living in Somalia has not as yet been established, estimates indicate that they constitute one third of the total Somalia population; approximately 2,000,000 people. The minority groups include Bantu, Bravenese, Rerhamar, Bajuni, Eyle, Galgala, Tumal, Yibir and Gaboye. These groups continue to live in conditions of great poverty and suffer numerous forms of discrimination and exclusion. Minority Clans Bantu The Bantu are believed to be descendants of Bantu communities in East and Central Africa from regions like Tanzania and Malawi, brought into Somalia by Arab slave traders. However, there are also other Bantu who are believed to be non-Somali, who lived in Somalia before the arrival of the aforementioned Bantu. Most of the Bantu are small-scale farmers who live in the riverine areas along the Juba and Shabelle rivers, the only permanent rivers that run through southern Somalia Rerhamar and Baravnese The Rerhamar and Baravnese are believed to be descendents of Arab immigrant settlers from Yemen and Far East countries. They settled in coastal towns of southern Somalia some ten centuries ago. Most of them are traders. Bajuni The Bajuni are a people related to the coastal people (Waswahili) along the Eastern African Coast. They live in Kismayo and the Islands of Jula, Madoga, Satarani, Raskamboni, Bungabo, Dudey, Koyoma and Jovay (Bajuni Islands). They are a seafaring community. Gaboye, Tumal, Yibir and Galagala The Gaboye, Tumal, Yibir and Galgala are ethnically associated with the Samale, which forms a dominant clan in Somalia. However, cultural stigma and traditions have excluded them as outcastes from the Samale clan. They engage in the activities of blacksmithing and shoemaking, as well as being hunters/gatherers. They live mainly in central and northern Somalia. Most of the minority groups have assimilated into other Somalia clans with whom they live. For example, the Galgala have assimilated into the Abgal in Jowhar and Mogadishu. However, they identify themselves as Nuh Mohamud, a sub clan of the Majerten clan. Some Gaboye, Tumal and Yibir assimilated into the Isak in Somaliland, while others yet have assimilated into the Darod in Puntland and central regions. There are also other Gaboye, Tumal and Yibir who assimilated with Hawadle, Murasade and Marehan clans in Galgadud region. With the exception of the Bantu, Rerhamar, Bravanese, Bajuni and Eyle who have distinct "non-Somali" physical appearance, all other minorities have physical appearances similar to that of the dominant clans, as well as having ethnic and cultural similarities. What distinguish the assimilated minorities are their distinct economic livelihoods. reliefweb.int/report/somalia/study-minorities-somalia

Not according to native Africans. If you're even from a different tribe, you're alien to them. Nothing against people sticking to those similar to them, polls show people often tend to trust those that look like them. But some folks out there need to chill. And that goes for everyone, no double standards. Not everyone is racist, but every race is racist.
