There was still a cadet dynasty of the sassanids in the 800s in tabaristan. The karanid dynasty, one of the great houses of persia, also persisted in gurgan.

It's a good video and it's great that you have dedicated a long video to such an unexplored topic, however there are two issues. 1) Mid 8th century is not the best time for this reconquest. While the apocalyptic interpretation of Zoroastrianism may slow down conversions to Islam, it can't do much to stop the migration of Arabs to Khorasan. Most of the Abbasid army was made of Muslim Iranians or kinda persianized Arabs of Khorasan. The best time for this reconquest is during the first or second fitna, especially the second fitna which was a multi-side civil war. 2) Yazdegerd III was actually offered by the lords of the Caspian region to take refuge there but he refused, an easier way to have a Sassassid restoration is to have him accept that offer while also sending his son and part of his forces to China to seek aid there. Though I must note that there's this idea among some scholars of ancient Iranian history that Yazdegerd III and his family were actually Chrisitans and they lacked support from the lords which is why the fled the capital or generally gave up faster. So maybe one other way could be to replace Yazdegerd with a different king.

I expect that there would be a lot of back and forth wars between the Caliphate and Iran, and at various points they would be more fractured and decentralized, while some other times having a more strong leadership, probably during theese times of more unity is when one of the forces advances heavily into the other, triggering a more unified resistance in the other and so on, I think that it would resemble more the 100 years war or the old Byzantine-Sassanid wars than the Reconquista.

I'm not sure it would change much about daily life, but Neith would be a prime candidate for space missions. If it were to be like our moon, it would be much cooler than Venus, but great for solar power and far enough away from Earth to be a practice route for a Mars mission, while being close enough for a quick rescue. I'd bet it would have a flag on it by the present, probably from the US, Russia, and/or China

The crusades were propogated by the Seljuk after they migrated from centeral asia. In this timeline if persia remained a centeralized entity, could beat the turks back if not, they might only get a foothold in khorasan, far awsy from jerusalem and byzantium where their actions caused the pope to declare hoky war. If a crusade does still happen, persia will still be victorious

A simpler way to make it happen, would be an alliance with the Byznatines and the northern Persian states, wait until a large turkish migration severely weakens the Abassids and the strike when they are at their weakest probably around the 10th century.
