There are no words that can describe it, that's how beautiful it is. It does have it's flaws but not to the point where it ruins the game. :)
@MayaMachina-n8s5 жыл бұрын
@Brythonic My biggest one for me, and this may come as a nitpick: Orochi at the start of the game was painted as the big main bad, you take him down and all is well and good. But when you do kill him, the game says "psyche, there's an even bigger villain out there." For me, that put the pacing off balance.
@Shiny_SSB5 жыл бұрын
@Brythonic There are multiple flaws with the game, such as Issun pointing out blatantly obvious things, and on the other hand, pointing out stuff so that the player can't figure stuff out on their own. The pacing of the game in the beginning is also very slow, but it's an RPG so I understand why. The way the game recognizes brush techniques is also bad sometimes (Tried to do catwalk and it thought I was drawing the infinity sign, like what?). Some would say the game is too easy, but that's not a problem, more about what the focus went into, having a game easy doesn't mean it's bad. I however disagree with Orchestra Gamer up there about the pacing, when you kill Orochi with Susano, you're supposed to think the game is over, but then you learn that there are even bigger journeys ahead, it makes the game feel HUGE and it puts an even bigger emphasis on the word "epic". The only other complaint I have with it is that Yami has little to no backstory whatsoever, it's just kind of... There. At least with Orochi you have a personality. But maybe that's the point, I know it's kind of meant to be good vs evil and nature vs technology in the end, but that main antagonist was so weird to me. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE this game. One of, if not my all time favorite games. The visuals? Stunning. The music? Absolutely breathtaking. But no game is perfect, and this is no exception. I will say this game is a prime example of what games could be, and if they ever made a sequel to Okamiden (Or maybe a prequel where you play as Ammy on the celestial plain as it gets attacked by Orochi) and if they fix the problems that Okami had, that would probably go on to be THE BEST game of all time. I would give the game a 9.9/10. Because even with those problems, they pale in comparison to the absolute mindblowing love and affection this game has put into it. Nearly everything with the game is perfect, and who knows, maybe everything will be perfect with it one day.

@@MayaMachina-n8s For me it was the fight with ninetails being the big bait. Orochi left me feeling hollow but the ninetails fight had almost all of the brush strokes, character deaths, there was a big emphasis on that being the end of the game. The yami fight was annoying to say the least, I despised it. But for me the big issue the game had was the camera, at times it worked fine, other times it aimed you down at the ground, acted sluggish, forced a viewpoint on you that was subpar.

In my opinion, no other game has ever had this much love put into it. Every time I play Okami, I can just feel how much love and dedication Clover Studios put into making this game every moment I play. The pacing, the graphics, the music all just compliment each other throughout the entire game. The celestial brush made you the player feel like YOU were the one restoring balance and beauty to the landscape, not just the game itself. It could be a very long time if not ever that a game will ever be able to pull off this kind of originality and beauty that this game possesses. Okami is currently and probably will always be my favorite game of all time. It pains my heart to know that this game was ignored and under appreciated by people and that it caused Clover Studios to close because of it. But the people that had their hearts touched by this game will keep its spirit alive forever. I know I sure will.

This song is just so amazing. The fight with Yami is pretty darn intense. While not particularly difficult, the fight still has a very bleak, almost hopeless feeling. You start with basically no powers, and have to struggle against him for the majority of the fight, as you slowly gain your abilities back...but at the same time, Yami only continues to grow more powerful as well. Then, he strikes you down. The moment you let your guard down, you are left wounded, powerless, and at the mercy of Yami...but then...the entire world calls out to you. Everyone you've met, everyone you've helped...they all come to your aid, they share their power with you...and with their prayers, wishes, and hopes, you gain all your power back and then some, as THIS music starts. The entire world is on your side, lending you their strength...and with that power, you can now burn away the darkness, and CRUSH the dark lord like the bug he is! That is why this song is so great...while it is an amazing song by itself, the way it is used in the game is just incredible. After the power struggle the boss fight was until this point, this music screams "You have the upper hand(or paw)! Yami is nothing before you now!" It's so empowering, and just makes you feel like you CANNOT lose!

This is in my opinion one of the most beautiful songs ever composed. I mean seriously, it has to be the most triumphant song I've ever heard. It's one of those songs where as soon as it starts you just KNOW you are going to win; that the upcoming fight is merely a formality because you cannot lose. You've got the power of love and righteousness on your side and nothing is going to stop you. You've tried so hard and journeyed far to get to this point and now you're going to save the fucking universe! YEAH!

One of the best games ever. After going through one of the most symbolic boss fights ever (Yami's first form represents how humans like to destroy things, its second form represent how humans use fire to destroy things, its third form represents how humans like taking risks, its fourth form represents how humans use machines to destroy things, its last form represents how humans use their own hands for evil, and lastly, its true form represents how everything, even evil, can begin small.) Your friends basically say that they will have your back and you're not alone (in that awesome cutscene). You can't do everything by yourself and you don't have to shoulder all that burden by yourself (which is the moral of this awesome story.) You have helped everyone in Nippon people in need, and you asked for nothing in return? Un-uh. We are helping you reguardless. We have your back. That lesson is powerful enough, but the way the game take that concept, ices it with some of the best music I've heard, and completes it with unique graphics, great cinematic gameplay (a little repetitive at times) and one hell of a story. This game needs a prequel or we need a sequel after Okamiden that shows how Amaterasu and (possibly) Chibiterasu go about cleansing the Celestial Plains to restore it to its former beauty. Wonder if it could be possible for a 2-player game to be made? I Think us fans would crap our pants if any of these were to happen.

Okami is an amazing game. It really is unforgettable. It has beautiful art, a riveting story, and very smooth but unique gameplay. It's not one of those games that boasts fast-paced, action-filled gameplay. It really lets you slow down for a bit and just focus on what's really important, appreciate nature more. It's such a cultural game, the culture which stems from an appreciation of nature. It really opens your eyes to the beauty of the world and the delicate balance between life and death
