I've been trying to do this for ages. Sometimes things are so simple, that you don't see them. But thank you for understanding that complete novices, or people like me that are are coming from a previous DAW (but still a novice, hahaha!) NEED videos like this that explain things in the simplest terms. You Sir, are indeed a legend. Greetings and thanks from The UK!!!!

Finally someone that explains Maschine from the point of view of people who've spent years working in other sequencers (Logic for me) and can't understand why the scene/pattern is so un logical and hard to grasp. I'm assuming that its based on how the Akai MPC works which is where the hip hop guys find it intuitive and all us electronic guys are scratching our heads. I only wanted to get a grasp on it for sketching anyway as the scene arranged is far too basic for my workflow but its great for getting ideas down - fortunately Maschine 2 integrates very well into Logic Pro X and I can set it up and use all of Logics vastly superior arrangement options for actually making a complex highly edited track.

Hey thanks for the comment - I too was confounded by Maschine's layout at first (coming from Ableton for me).
@blackcoffee601810 жыл бұрын
One tip that isn't mentioned here: When you are recording a longer melody (or drum section) you can create a bunch of empty scenes and mark them all (so they play in a loop). If you now hit record, Maschine records the whole sequence you play, creating one 1-Bar-Pattern per scene. That way you don't have to worry about adding a drum-break in the last Bar at some point (since you can change that Pattern without touching the other Patterns).

Dude, if you simply duplicate the scene via hardware or with right click on scene it creates new patterns with the same content. It's easier and faster.

Thanks for the video, this is what I was looking for. However, I am still having a problem. Each time I try this the Maschine not creating a new pattern. Instead, it's simply duplicating and I can't make unique edits to the new patterns/scenes. I went to the hardware (As suggested in other tutorials) I press Scene /Duplicate buttons I do't have a "+ Pattern" Option to click. I only have an option there that says "link". Any suggestions on how to correct this?

Hey mate im trying to work on drum breaks at the moment. i load a break on sound 1 and a break on sound 2 i then slice up the first break and load the midi to pattern1 i then slice up the second break but it deletes the midi data from break 1. I can achieve this by loading breaks to separate groups but it makes it much easier for arranging if they are on the same page

this reminds me of when you learn to drive stick for the first time... one dosen't understand the concept and how easy it is until they get in the drivers seat and take it for a spin. you cant see it because he's using the mouse but the easiest way to do this is to hit the pattern button on the controller (hold it down) and you can go into any pattern as well as create a new pattern with a tap of any pad and create the sequence there (be in step mode for this part).. super easy' you can as everyone wants to copy the entire complete pattern and paste into each pattern as i described removing tracks to create different sequences. you can create many patterns in seconds... yes i hated the interface at first but after using it for a while you figure out the short cuts... just keep asking yourself the right questions 'how do i? and you'll get there... eventually' ;)

Very basic question: How do you make it go from scene to scene when playing, instead of looping the same scene, and vice versa? When I play scene one it just keeps looping instead of continuing on to scene two.
@Adsrsounds10 жыл бұрын
You can click and drag on the area directly below the space that says "SCENE 1, SCENE 2, etc." and draw the points you want to loop. I believe selecting a scene sets the loops points to begin and end with that scene.
@finnh66379 жыл бұрын
+Rick Nuthman From the hardware hold the SCENE button then highlight the scenes you want to play by pressing the pads relating to those scenes. If you press scene 1 pad and scene 4 pad at the same time it will select scene 1+2+3+4 and play them all the way through before starting again, hope this helps

Scott Glasel you can play several scenes in succession by setting the loop area in the interface directly beneath the area where you can add scenes or set the active scene (the numbers beneath the area that says, scene 1, scene 2, etc.).

I understand the complaints everyone has, but you are approaching Maschine from a wrong assumption, Maschine is not a DAW, it was created as competition to the MPC, MPD grooveboxes and controllers, it has a similar workflow to those products, so the comparison is flawed, you can use it as a plugin inside your favorite DAW, but it is not a DAW. I too am learning and getting used to Maschine's workflow, but it I am enjoying it instead of being frustrated, cause I look at it from that perspective, it would be exactly the same working with the awesome MPC. Cheers.

I just bought Maschine and so far I can't stand it. I came from FL Studio. In my opinion FL is a lot easier to work with. I legit had to look up a tutorial just like everyone else here to learn how to add a different pattern in Maschine. To me thats crazy. I was really excited to use Maschine too. Now I just get annoyed any time I try to make something.
