Very satisfying cleaning old mechanical switches like that. I have hade good success repairing some plastic with bicarbonate soda and supper glue. Thanks again for sharing. 👍

I have seen this technique but haven’t actually tried it myself. I do use a two part plastic repair resin for this purpose but it is very expensive as it’s a motor trade product. I am interested to try the super glue and bicarbonate trick .

If you mix the soda with the ground up lead from a carpenters pencil 50 50 before adding the glue it is stronger and black in colour.

Yes really nice piece of design! I really should have explained more about just how well thought out it is. The only reason that the base gets broken is that people try to use the edge to pry against. But now you know how to take them apart properly.
