It's a great car. Far better than any of the 3 main rivals. I live in a relative poor country and in a small town, and I can easely state that there are more 5 series than golfs here. No park assist systems manages all parking configurations yet..etc. If you drink, smoke, work hard, call and send messages while driving, you'd better test the airbags of a Kia or Toyota..that's a lot cheaper...Finally one who cannot park such 5 m long car should not be driving it either. +MrSmashMovies ANY 911 991-2, 488 GTO, Z06, California T or larger 4WD Panamera or Ghibli are no luxury basic transports loaded with useless gadgets to impress others but real WELL BALANCED driver's cars bought for the selfish fun and enjoyment of the driver. Of course for resale value to Huppies you want to load a new car with heated steering wheels and massage seal of an Opel Astra and garage auto parking of a new 5 series, but adding weight removes fun, so you stick to essential GPS cruise control bluetooth etc and that is enough and plenty to DRIVE A good car, both sober and awake. Paying Tesla 2500$ for a stupid highway only autopilot adding no hardware to the heavy lorry is a lot cheaper, impressive but does not put a real smile on the driver's face since supersonic fighters have no autopilot to start with... philgood.

I don´t get comfortable gadgets for impressing? I do it for comfort. Driving to work each day with out cruise control would be a pain. come 2018-19, this car's actually come a long way, much more improved than the model here, electric power steering, more powerful engine with the SQ4 model, improved the looks too with the facelift i think, and touched on a few bits and bobs like the centre console to iron out the creases. when this was first released, probs would have thought twice about going for this against say an audi or a BMW but now, i would seriously consider taking this over the others. one thing i found they really still need to look into is this cars awful turning circle, i mean come on, every fricking time i try to make a u turn i have to reverse before i can head on!!!

If it had a much bigger and more flush screen it could work, maybe they intended to have one, set the design and then decided it would cost too much. Hence the acres of plastic border, that really looks quite cheap. Also, there seems to be buttons on the backside of the wheel? Wonder what they do. Also wonder if Italian manufacturers actually test cars before building them, that automatic gearbox would never pass in a German car.

Italian cars are generally non perfect like german cars, but the italian style and design is recognized around the world. Reminds me of a firework rocket. Goes quick, makes noise but then blows up. Italian engineering ranks below the chinese these days. Ferrari cars blow up and catch on fire all the time, maserati never make efficient cars and the steering has always been worse than a smart car.
@DavidBoy33310 жыл бұрын
your right man. to be honest. European products apart from German, Swedish and some British ones, the rest are quite shitty nowadays. Actually som Japanese products are starting to loose their reliable heritage too.
@anythingyouwant2910 жыл бұрын
Aaah thats what I thought about Japanese products, but i found out that Audi is trying to buy some kea engine parts! The average public just sees the car badge but little do they know that its made from parts all over the world now including Korea.
@DavidBoy33310 жыл бұрын
anythingyouwant29 The thing is that Koreans are very very smart on marketing their products. I mean I personally do not own any Samsung Products. My laptops and computers are all Taiwanese Asus or Acer. Phones, Ive been using HTC all my life love them never break and the HTC One I currently use is made of metal and is indeed hard as shit. Can kill someone if I dropped it on their head. But despite that, people still tend to buy Samsung products just because they make everything from fridges to TV and phones. I do admit that the Korean products like Hyundai and KIA has some nice design features, thats why they attract a lot of costumers buying them plus that their price are very competitive too. But car enthusiasts should know that the qualities are really the main issue of their products. And regarding the Japanese cars, the cost of making anything in Japan is just too high compared to Korea and China nowadays. Its almost impossible for them to keep up with the quality they had back then and then sell it for the same price as the Korean and Chinese products.
@kristiaan110 жыл бұрын
***** Actually, the newest Korean models' quality isn't that much of an issue as it was 5 or 10 years ago. And they're still some of the cheapest. If Skoda or VW used to be the reasonable taxi driver's choice in past 10-15 years, Kia and Hyundai will be the same in next 10-15 years.
@DavidBoy33310 жыл бұрын
***** Oh Yeah I agree. If we take China for example. Its taken over USA as the worlds biggest automotive market. Most Taxis there are Hyundai, VW and Kia. I am personally very interested in the new Kia Genesis. I believe Kia might start a lineup with luxury cars (Genesis) like what Toyota did by creating Lexus in maybe 3-5 years time. However, at this moment, Japanese cars are still a little bit more reliable than say Korean and German cars. Dont even need to mention American cars. But the world is changing, Japan is falling behind now because the cost of producing anything in their country is just too high. China and Korea will be the ones leading the world in making consumer products like smart phones, cars, clothes etc. I mean China already does make basically everything, its just that they need to focus on making their own brands and design just like the Koreans with Samsung, Hyundai, Kia

If you want to display your driving prowess or the car's handling on a public road it might be a good idea to not cross over to the wrong side of the road so much in order to negotiate a mild bend in the road. My advice to Carbuyer is to get someone who knows how to drive.
@hawkesworth171210 жыл бұрын
rallus I know. I'm in Australia and so do we. I'm talking about when they cross the centre line to go round a bend. If they can't drive on a public road without crossing the centre line it doesn't say much for the handling of the car.

And german cars are really boring if you live in Europe. If 1/2 cars are bmw,audi and merc then they really don't look that special. If you have the oppertunity to fly an airplane or fly in space. What would you choose most people would choose space cause its something "dangerous" , "exiting" and not that common.

I saw one of these in my area on 14 plates in black. It really is an absolutely beautiful car in person and I just wanted to be in it, flooring the throttle. Its a shame, then, that the back-seats are so small and the boot so shallow. Yes its a Maserati, yes its a Ferrari engine - but a car is only as good as the sum of its parts and, for an executive car, those are pretty large downsides to have. As much as I roll my eyes at German cars and would love for someone to really give them a run for their money (I'm looking at you, Cadillac Europe), I will have to begrudgingly admit that my Dad's old A6 was a better car overall. It WILL have a market though, and it will be a successful product because lets face facts, it is a beautiful car, it goes like stink, its got a god-like italian badge.

However the design looks beautiful, has an italian flair to it, better than the Alfa Giulia imo and definitely more unique than the german cars, but any car of that class is better than the Ghbili, reduce the price Maseratti! or start from scratch and improve the quality by 90%!

Calum Crowther Yeah, Hyundais have pretty standard rears... If you want an ugly rear end then look no further than a mk2 Megane

Philgood: One point you're completely right: the german ZF gearbox and gearbox selector is the weakest system of the beast. This german bit restricts also the Ferrari (Penstar block) V6 wild horse to ONLY 7000 RPM and torques it down at the high end. Too bad: a dual clutch Ferrari gearbox does not fit well a mass produced affordable Ghibli and we can't wait such a version MC or so. Then the Q4 is darn competitive: basically slightly better and a lot nicer than a double priced Panamera 4S 2014 and costing LESS than a Cayman S or little Macan. How do you say frameless doors and 5 seats in stuttgarter words? For the rest, the paddle shifters are cool, perfect and cost nothing, for stiff steering, just put the sport mode, not I.C.E. dummy! Thanks Good, the 4wd Q4 is NOT for bias right hand drivers like you, unable to choose the Grigio Maratea and Marone Poltrona Frau full leather. Stick to red, as you should be. PS: My new Q4 arrives end of May and pls, stop comparing Armani shoes with your Birkenstock tongs.

>"no german car sounds this good" Has he heard of the E60 M5 or the C63 AMG?
@Fishfingers23210 жыл бұрын
Those are top of the line performance versions of their classes, you can't compare this 'regular' saloon to one of those, especially since they cost way more. It's only fair to compare it to regular C- Classes and 5 series' because those are its competitors.
@budrobadre10 жыл бұрын
Fishfingers232 Well that's not what he said. He said "no german car sounds this good". If it's unfair to compare those he simply shouldn't have said it.

Fishfingers232 Yes, and this isn't one of them. You're just being a smartass fucking piece of shit.
@Fishfingers23210 жыл бұрын
Drawnsbyme wow, look who's taking things too far....he made a sweeping and vague statement about German cars that he, and we all know (except for you and your small head) wasn't exactly true. You seriously believe that a car reviewer thought that all German cars were sedate saloons? I'm not being a smartass, you're just being an overly defensive and short fused prick.

In Sweden this car is 160,000$+ with the diesel V6..... When EVO testdrove this they said it was going to be 80,000$ with the petrol V6. I was really hopeful but no ofcourse our taxes fuck up everything.

I think people are too critical about the styling. Ok i admit, i dont like the lights, same with new Quattroporte, front lights just kind of dont match the rest of the car style. Its like they come from a different model or smth. However, its not a bad looking car, bit sporty, and most of all importantly different. I mean we all hear comments every day how all the BMWs and Audis look the same, so now when Maserati is doing something different (come on the car looks different compared to Audis and BMWs/more sporty, more coupe-esque a bit) again people criticize. The reason why u might find similarities with i dont kia or hyundai or smth is because those companies also have up-d their game and have taken european car manufacture former stylists. For example Kia current designer is German! Peter Schreyer (google him if you dont believe), used to work for Audi!!!!!!!!!!

Never had an issue with gears you press the button and move and down simple. The drive is great and the steering wheel is designed that way on purpose so maybe you need to get your homework done before slagging that and everything else off. Simply put; you just do not like this car and or Mazerati because if you had real knowledge of the brand you would just have a different take as you do not get what or who this car is for. Frankly I am getting fed up of your reviews and have been watching you for some years and unless its Audi or BMW you could never give a non bias review. Shame but I think I am going to call it a day here with you on KZbin.

At first I thought the front was ugly, but the whole car is really starting to grow on me! Although the red in the interior is wayyy too much and as the reviewer mentioned... There are cheaper, better cars. Try again Maserati.

Who's gonna cross shop an Maserati vs E-class, 5-series or A6? It would go more vs something a bit more classy like the XF or 6 Grand Coupé. The main problem with the Ghibli is however the exterior styling. It's good, but not great as the XF or 6 Grand Coupé. The other Maserati's are all stunningly beautiful.

I owned a Jaguar XF and recently changed to the Maserati Ghibli and I can tell you the interior us much more up-class and luxurious than the other two.

how has your maserati been ? do you have the petrol or diesel ?
@josephnicholson8 жыл бұрын
sim rai My Maserati has been wonderful! I got the Ghibli S which is petrol, the handling, comfort and interior are just amazing. I would highly recommend the Ghibli (petrol) or Ghibli S. But the diesel is absolutely fine too, it just doesn't sound as good.

False. The AMGs sound nice, but you can't compare the sound to a Maserati. It's completely different, and Maseratis are just so much better...
