Like any other company they are trying to lower costs. They are doing this with their rotisserie chickens by their own chicken plant in Nebraska. They make their own hot dogs and having a machine that can put the right amount of tomato sauce on pizzas. Yes they are loss leaders (items that sell that lose money for the company to get you in the door), but they are popular and it works.

I was born and lived in Vancouver Canada for 23 years and Costco Downtown Vancouver was built differently like non-membership customers can order from the food court, now some customers r doing a take-out. Try to Google search Vancouver Costco Canada.🇨🇦

UPDATE: Membership is now required to purchase items at their food court. No more freeloaders. Costco now has self-service kiosks to avoid the lines.

They discontinued the giant slices of the works pizza. They also got rid of most of the very yummy stuff they used to have. However you can order a whole fully baked specialty pizza for the ssme cost as the pepperoni. ❤

Here's a hack you should try: Buy a hot dog and Chili. Pour chili over your hot dog, topped the chili with raw onions and cheese. You got yourself a chili cheese dog right there. 😊

At about 7:00, The discussion is about buns on the hot dogs. Well it is very true if you eat a hotdog at the food court even after putting on all the condiments, the bun will be stable, The same is not the case if you take it home to eat it. If you put all the condiments on it and then take it home, the bun is Quite soggy. It’s not completely soggy, which is good, but it is not as fresh as if you get it from the counter and eat it there at Costco. At least that’s been my experience.

The best deal in Costco is hotdog and soda for $1.50. And the chicken baked is good but the price went up for $1.00. When I go to Costco shopping I don’t always eat there. If I do just hotdog or chicken baked not pizza. They don’t have chopped onion 🤷‍♀️ we bring our own chop onion for the hotdogs or chicken baked.

As a employee of Costco, this channel is miss leading the public. You must have a Costco card to get in to eat at the food court. You can not pay at the registers anymore for food court items. They do have a kiosk payment system a member can use.

In fact I could count those times on half of my hand, but that's interesting that it could be added to the check out order to pre pay. Its so seldom I've ever used that food court, I would probably pay the cashier with my regular Costco stuff and walk right past the food court and proceed to leave the premises never thinking twice about the fact I bought a food court order:) Seriously LOL

Im a fairly skinny person, and very active but im not worried too much about calories. Most likely the bad part of the costco food court are the ingredients. Highly processed, using high refined oil, lots of preservatives along with artificial flavoring and high sugar.

The hot dogs! I never used to eat hot dogs, thought they tasted too much like cheap balogna. Someone got me a Costco hot dog. I was hungry and ate it, more like ate three quarters of it as they are huge and damned good tasting. The only other Costco goody I've tried was the plain pizza. I like cheese pizzas, pepperoni and sausage gives me acid reflux, the pizza at Costcos was truly a great tasting pie. Now if they only had a 24 hour drive thru!

I bought one of their rotisserie chickens, such a strong poultry smell and taste, I couldn't eat it. They were rated the best on one site. They are supposed to raise their own chickens in Nebraska. What causes the strong poultry odor in chickens? The hot wax they dip the chickens into remove the feathers? Oh! the food court, hot dog buns are soggy from the steaming.
