Mask Defog Spray || DIY Gear

Hey fellow divers! Today I'm gonna teach you guys how to make a Defog spray for your diving mask!
This cheap and easy concoction is what I personally use to deter fogginess and it works great for me. I hope it does for you as well!

The key is really ONLY rinsing it out, not washing it out with your fingers like you showed in the last shot. If you use your fingers, you remove that thin film that is responsible for lowering the surface tension. One(!) quick(!) rinse to get the bubbles out, and you're good to go.

Hi @Freediver john,i use baby shampo and it is very effective,i also never "burn" the lense to eliminate the greasy silicon for the new mask,i just put the baby shampoo to the new mask,and it work very well with me.I always carry a baby shsmpoo every trip even the dive cntre provide a detergrn for defog which it seem likre a dish detergent

That's awesome mate. Great stuff. But I have a question... How long does your special formula last for, roughly? Ten mins? Half hour? My mask fogs up almost immediately even if I'm using spit. It's glass and a good mask. But I didn't do the toothpaste or burning techniques when I bought it a year ago. Can I do those steps now? Or is it too late? Appreciate all the knowledge you bring.

Thanks for watching man! you can still do the burn now although it may be a little less effective. For me the spray works about half an hour and then I spray more.. I just keep clipped to my bcd or in a dive raft. If I pair it with a little toothpaste before a dive it can last me the whole session easy :)

The point is to leave a thin film on the mask, rinsing it accomplishes that! you just don’t wanna touch it with your fingers :) Water alone won’t get it all off. It’s the same premise as how you can’t get the brown brake dust off you car rims with just a hose
